At Eltham Hill School we value every student as an individual and are totally committed to enabling them all to experience Excellence, Happiness and Success.

We are a diverse and vibrant community and visitors say they can feel the creativity and warmth in our school simply from stepping inside the building. We provide many varied opportunities for our students to discover and develop their talents.

We are proud to be an IB International School and take every opportunity to increase students understanding of the wider world through our curriculum offer, trips abroad and by hosting regular groups of visitors from other countries.

We aim to support our students to become confident, articulate and thoughtful young people. We nurture their leadership skills, resilience and independent thinking through a wide variety of learning experiences and our strong pastoral team ensure that emotional and mental well-being are as important as academic success.

Our Post 16 centre is co-educational. We offer a range of A Levels and are the only school in Greenwich authorised to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme.

My priority as the Principal of this wonderful school is to ensure that every student loves their time at school and achieves to their full potential. We have amazing facilities, a committed and caring staff and I hope you choose our school for the next stage of your educational journey.

On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to welcome you to Eltham Hill School. Our Governing Body is made up of parents, local authority, coopted staff and student governors who successfully work together to help lead the work of our outstanding school.

We actively encourage all parents and carers to feel part of the school and to get involved in our community. We understand that parents and carers lead busy lives and therefore offer flexible opportunities for you to keep in touch with teaching staff and to attend parents’ evenings, so you can follow your sixth-formers's progress throughout their schooling experience.

Annual events such as Make a Difference Day, Black History Month and our Inter Generational Projects put equality and diversity at the centre of our school.

Our students have sponsored many charities during these events through their ingenious fundraising activities.

Our students support and regularly fundraise for the charity “Commonwealth Girls Education Fund".

As part of our community links, we work closely with our local primary schools and with other schools locally and nationally.

Teaching and Learning Eltham Hill Post 16 teachers have excellent subject knowledge and passion for their subject, woven into the fabric of their lives, both inside and outside school, which they model and share with students.

Eltham Hill teachers use an explicit pedagogy based on a cycle of (PIP): • Pre-class prescribed research, preparation and reading using state of the art technology • In-class teaching and learning which combines and applies students’ and teachers’ knowledge, understanding, skills and language • Post-class consolidation activities and tasks to allow the learning gained in class to be practised, demonstrated, tracked and assessed

Our teachers create distinctive, active and challenging learning environments in which classes are conducted in styles that replicate their subjects at university and in the world of work.

iPads At Eltham Hill Post 16 all students are encouraged to buy iPads to support them with PIP learning. The use of iPads add to our students in-class learning experience and develops them as expert and independent learners.

Pastoral support Each Post 16 student is allocated to a tutor group and a tailored tutorial programme which links to their chosen specialism.

This includes support with UCAS preparation.

Students also have regular oneto-one tutorial sessions

to support their academic success.

Students have access to student support managers and independent study times in specialised rooms.

Eltham Hill gives students unique opportunities to pursue STEM opportunities and to experience Science and Maths in real life scenarios

Post 16 Curriculum Eltham Hill School offers a wide range of A levels and the IB Career Related Programme (BTEC option). Students at Post 16 benefit from the outstanding facilities offered by the state of the art buildings at the school.

Facilities Our school embraces advanced, cutting edge technology and communications systems, connecting us with local, regional and global communities. Our sporting facilities, social spaces, gardens and buildings have been designed to support creative thinking and independent learning.

Entry requirements for: A Levels For entry to an A Level programme if study all students are required to have at least five 5+ grades to be considered. To apply for a specific course, students must have a 6/7 grade in that subject or a related subject area.

IB Career Related Programme (BTEC Option) For entry to an IBCP programmes of study students must have five or more GCSE qualifications at grade 4+ to be considered.

A Level options We offer the following subjects at A Level taught by our qualified, experienced and committed teaching staff.

Courses offered are subject to change if numbers are not sufficient to run a course.

Art, Design and Photography | Biology | Business Studies | Chemistry | Drama | Economics | English Language | English Literature | French | German | Geography | History | Maths | Media Studies | Music | Physics | Product Design | Psychology | Religious Studies | Sociology | Spanish | Textiles Students are encouraged to take 3 A Levels for their programme of study. However, the possiblity of studying 4 subjects is available to students who have outstanding GCSE results.

Eltham Hill has a vibrant Music department offering opportunities to become Music leaders and to take part in musical events

IB Career-related Programme (BTEC Option) The IB Career-related Programme (CP) is designed for students interested in pursuing a career-related education in the final two years of secondary school.

The course develops students’ skills by engaging them in career-related education that still has a strong academic focus. The programme can lead to further and higher education, apprenticeships or employment.

IBCP students study a BTEC Diploma subject, two IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses and a core consisting of four components .

Who is the IBCP for?

The IBCP was specifically developed for students who wish to engage in careerrelated learning while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement.

How do IB programmes support university and career readiness?

University and career readiness refers not only to content knowledge but skills and habits that students must have to succeed in postsecondary education or training that leads directly to the workforce.

In addition to providing academic rigour, IB programmes develop skills such as time management and critical thinking that have been identified as necessary to successfully navigate, persist in and complete university.

Enrichment, Partnerships and Progression We offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities to support our students into higher education and the world of work.

Enrichment is an important part of what wer offer our students and is personalised for each individual. We offer a range of opportunities which enhance learning and life skills both inside ad outside the classroom.

Our enrichment programme incorporates guest speakers, visits, mentoring and opportunities to visit businesses and organisations and take part in real life career opportunities. Every student also has the opportunity to take informal qualifications such as first aid and sports coaching.

Our CEIAG support incorporates opportunities to explore a wide range of careers, take part in real life careers in action and personalised support with applications to Universities, apprenticeship organisations and Gap year projects.

Our Post 16 enrichment programme aims to broaden the range of students’ interests, provide useful skills and knowledge for university life and beyond and give opportunities for earning some extra qualifications.

"As part of my enrichment, through the Mark Evison Foundation, I was able to plan and co-ordinate my own adventure - trekking up up Ben Nevis, the Highest Mountain in British Isles. It was an amazing experience and a great addition to my personal statement!"
