Election 2015: Key Races in Area Communities

There may not be a presidential election this year, but that doesn’t mean voting in the Nov. 3 election isn’t important. In small communities in particular, elections often come down to a single vote. So yours might be the most meaningful vote

cast all day. Here is a rundown of your ballot selections in all of the Ellicottville Times’ official towns. To view sample ballots for any town in Cattaraugus County, visit www.cattco. org/news and click on “View Sample Ballots for the 2015 General Election.”

State Supreme Court Justice All voters may vote for two State Supreme Court justices. Both candidates, Frank A. Sedita, III and Emilio L. Colaiacovo, are listed with the Democratic, Republican and Conservative parties. Colaiacovo is also listed with the Reform party. See Area Elections page 5

for snowsports school directors: the “Ron Kubicki Staff Appreciation Award.” The award will recognize snowsports school directors of smaller and perhaps lessknown resorts that have demonstrated support and advocacy for their staff and earned tremendous respect, admiration and loyalty from their school staff members. The award is named for Holiday Valley’s Ron Kubicki, who retires November 1 after decades of service at the resort (the last 15 years as snowsports school director). “Ron served as our PSIA Eastern Division president from 2012-2014, and throughout that time working with him I enjoyed one of the most genuine and down-to-earth people of my career. The Win-Sum Ski Corp. application to convert the former Burger King site at the corner of Holiday Valley Rd and Rt. 219 to the new offices of Holiday Valley Rental Management and HV Realty was approved by the Town of Ellicottville Planning Board

on Monday, Oct. 26. The approval was made following a public hearing on the matter; no one attended the hearing. The plan calls for removal of existing dumpster, freezer and storage space on one side of the building and replacing it with a 20-foot addition that will have
