Cattaraugus County Fair, Aug. 3–9 This annual tradition and family favorite with midway rides, along with crowd favorites like the Monster Truck Rally, Truck and Tractor Pull, Demolition Derbies and Barnyard Olympics is great for the whole family. The “grand finale” of the International Bowhunting Organization’s (IBO) outdoor season will double as both a championship event and a time for shooters and their families to enjoy their summer. Set at Holiday Valley,

Aug. 4-9, the IBO World Championship is the last event for the shooting season in an ideal vacation setting. “This is our last event, where everyone comes together for a good time,” said IBO President Brian Marcum. “It’s a good time for the families to get together, take a vacation and really just enjoy the event.” Marcum said the organization tries to make its final event different from the other tournaments throughout the year, making sure it’s “special.” Because families usually use vacation time to attend the world championship, the organization typically looks at resort settings like Holiday Valley, which is “one of our shooters’ favorite locations,” Marcum said. “The shooters look forward to coming to the

A special use permit was approved by the Town of Ellicottville’s Planning Board for a farm stand to be located on the grounds of a new gym, Groove Fitness, on Rt. 219. The two-year permit may be extended with planning board approval. The owner, Dionne Kress, expects to operate the farm stand on Saturdays only from August

Preparing for the Cattaraugus County Fair a wealth of interactive, educational exhibits about agriculture in the region. Two of those exhibits, Mager Mountains Alpacas and the “AG Discovery Tent,” sponsored by the Farm Bureau, will be returning to the fair for 2015 from Aug. 3-9. For the fifth year in a row, Mager Mountain Alpacas of Little Valley will be a part of the fair. Owners Paul and Sue Mager participate in just a few off-farm events each year, including the Ellicottville Fall Festival, and are looking forward to sharing their alpacas again this year.
