Taste of Ellicottville Aug. 12-13 By Alicia Dziak

Ellicottville is known for many things, and at the heart of it all is the food. From awesome appetizers to hearty entrees to delectable desserts, you can find it all, and this weekend, you can sample it all at the annual Taste of Ellicottville Aug. 12 and 13. The Taste of Ellicottville, presented by Sysco and produced by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, takes to the streets for the 32nd year. Samples are served on Saturday, Aug. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. Get your tickets and menu and plan your course of attack. Tickets are a dollar apiece. You won’t find a menu item for more than five tickets! There will be gluten-free and other healthy choices available at most restaurants represented. Eighteen Ellicottville eateries will be serving up their signature dishes this weekend from noon to 4 p.m. each day. Restaurants include Balloons, Bike and Bean, Cadillac Jacks, Centerplate at Holiday Valley, Dina’s Restaurant, Dina’s at the Mont, Ellicottville Brewing Company, Finnerty’s

Tap Room, Katy’s Café, Katy’s Catering, Madigan’s, Monroe Street Brick and Brew, The Silver Fox, The Tee Bar, Tim and Bonnie’s, Villaggio, Watson’s and, as special guests, the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino, one of the largest event sponsors for many years, has been invited to attend. Deep fried mac and cheese? Chicken and waffle cone? Southern peach cake with salted caramel mousse? Yes, it can all be yours this weekend! Tickets can be purchased at the centrally-located booth for $1, and can be exchanged at the restaurants, which will be set up café-style in the streets; items are 1-5 tickets each. And just who’s the best? Find out at the Winery of Ellicottville Main Stage as the restaurants bring their special dish to the celebrity judges from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday. This year’s judges are all onair personalities from Buffalo/ Niagara television and radio, and include Channel 4’s Nalina Shapiro, Channel 2’s Jonah Javad, Bentley from the Edge and Greg from Kiss 98.5.. Throughout the day on

Sunday, Ellicottville chefs will demonstrate they are able to create some of those dishes that leave patrons full and satisfied. Some of those chefs will even be competing with one another in a contest similar to the hit show Chopped at the Winery Main Stage. On both Saturday and Sunday, street musicians will be strolling the village. Balloons will be hosting national recording artist, and one incredible cook in his own right, The Sauce Boss, at 2 p.m. Sunday. Singer and songwriter Will Lowry will be performing in the lawn of St. John’s Episcopal Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday in conjunction with their quilt sale. Stay the night and take in some great live music as the restaurants trade in their tents and get ready for the evening entertainment. Bring your appetite (and perhaps a doggy bag!) to this weekend’s Taste of Ellicottville and enjoy all the fabulous food available right here in Ellicottville! See the map and menu below:
