Motion : Dyson Airblade Proposer – Kishor Krishnamoorthi Seconder – Tom Corner The SU Notes – 1) The SU Bar already has Dyson Airblade hand dryers installed in the male and female toilets.

2) It is uses up to 80% less energy than traditional warm air hand dryers.

3) Compared to using toilet paper or paper towels, it is 37 times more cost efficient and 4 times more carbon efficient.

4) It is fitted with a HEPA filter which eliminates 99.9% of the bacteria from the air used to dry hands as opposed to traditional hand dryers which do not have any filters or primitive filters installed.

5) SubZero is an award winning venue.

The SU Believes – 1) With standardization of dryers, it will lead to reduction of maintenance costs.

2) There will be a dramatic reduction of operating costs since the SU has a high number of users a day, each Dyson Airblade can save up to £167.79 per annum.

3) The Airblade will contribute towards helping the environment as the CO2 emissions of the Airblade are approximately 1000kg lesser than traditional warm air hand dryers.

4) It will improve the image of the University and SU to prospective students.

The SU Resolves – 1) To install Dyson Airblades in all venues on the Colchester Campus operated by the Students Union.

2) To encourage the University to take similar measures in its facilities.
