Elgin Symphony Orchestra Adopt-a-School Application

About the Program
The ESO is proud to partner with the schools that make up the greater Elgin area to help students learn about the instruments that make up a symphony orchestra. Over the course of 4 different sessions, musicians of the ESO representing each ‘instrument family’ will give demonstrations of their instruments through interactive activities and performances. Each session will run roughly 45-minutes. This will include:
• Percussion – Timpani, Drums and Xylophone/Marimba
• Woodwinds – Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon
• Brass – Horn, Trumpet, Trombone and Tuba
• Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass
These presentations will be delivered in a manner that correlates directly to the Ainsworth Concerts for Youth in March at The Hemmens Cultural Center and we hope that all the students can attend one of these concerts. At this performance, students will be able to recognize each instrument family, and hear a performance with the full orchestra and conductor Matthew Sheppard who is also Music Director of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
