orn and raised in Rincón, Puerto Rico, Karina Romieu Moul is a Caribbean based jeweler specializing in pearls, shells, and other treasures.
acida y criada en Rincón, Puerto Rico, Karina Romieu Moul es una joyera del Caribe que se especializa en perlas, conchas y otros tesoros.
Her work is a collection of baroque pearls and vintage shells strung on hand rolled leather. Her passion for working with pearls and leather was born when she apprenticed as a jeweler for six years on the island of St Barths. During this time she was lucky enough to work with Katja Bentzen of KB St Barths. Katja taught her everything she knows and was much more than a teacher but also and still remains her dear friend/sister/mother.
Su trabajo es una colección de perlas barrocas y conchas antiguas ensartadas en cuero enrollado a mano. Su pasión por trabajar con perlas y cuero nació cuando fue aprendiz de joyería durante seis años en la isla de St Barths. Durante este tiempo tuvo la suerte de trabajar con Katja Bentzen de KB St Barths. Katja le enseñó todo lo que sabe y fue mucho más que una maestra, pero también sigue siendo su querida amiga/hermana/madre. Bueno, aquí hay un poco sobre mí.
Well, heres a little about me. I owe my inspiration to my childhood. Growing up above a marine reserve in Puerto Rico was a dream for any child. Some of my earliest memories are of playing in tide pools and making coconut boats for the hermit crabs to bravely sail to shore in. Us kids from the neighborhood would spend every spare moment pretending to be castaways opening coconuts on rocks and eating mangos until we itched with sticky sap and ran into the ocean. As we grew, so did our respect and love for the incredible nature we had as a front yard. When I create jewelry, I think of this place. Le debo mi inspiración a mi infancia. Crecer sobre una reserva marina en Puerto Rico era un sueño para cualquier niño. Algunos de mis primeros recuerdos son de jugar en las pozas de marea y hacer botes de coco para que los cangrejos ermitaños navegaran valientemente por la costa. Los niños del vecindario pasábamos cada momento libre fingiendo ser náufragos, abriendo cocos en las rocas y comiendo mangos hasta que nos picaba la savia pegajosa y corríamos hacia el océano. A medida que crecimos, también lo hizo nuestro respeto y amor por la increíble naturaleza que teníamos como jardín delantero. Cuando creo joyas, pienso en este lugar. Well, honestly, a guitar string led me here......through my first company, Restrung Jewelry. Restrung is an accessories brand that I started about 12 years ago in my hometown of New Orleans, LA. Growing up as a creative kid in a family of musicians and artists, music always influenced my art. One day, I got the idea to create jewelry out of used guitar strings. Instead of throwing them out, I asked musicians to save their old strings so I could use them for jewelry - and I started selling my work at the historic French Market. It didn’t take long before I realized that ReStrung was more than a hobby, and I began hiring women to help turn our donated strings into jewelry. By 2017, that hobby turned into a thriving small business, with hundreds of ReStrung retailers worldwide, and a team of over a dozen women who made the jewelry and managed the business. Page 16
Bueno, sinceramente, una cuerda de guitarra me llevó hasta aquí... a través de mi primera empresa, ReStrung Jewelry. ReStrung es una marca de accesorios que comencé hace unos 12 años en mi ciudad natal de Nueva Orleans, LA. Al crecer como un niño creativo en una familia de músicos y artistas, la música siempre influyó en mi arte. Un día se me ocurrió la idea de crear joyas con cuerdas de guitarra usadas. En lugar de tirarlas, pedí a los músicos que guardaran sus cuerdas viejas para poder usarlas en joyería, y comencé a vender mi trabajo en el histórico Mercado Francés. No pasó mucho tiempo antes de que me diera cuenta de que ReStrung era más que un pasatiempo, y comencé a contratar mujeres para ayudar a convertir nuestras cuerdas donadas en joyas. Para 2017, ese pasatiempo se convirtió en una pequeña empresa próspera, con cientos de minoristas ReStrung en todo el mundo y uequipo de más de una docena de mujeres que fabricaban joyas y administraban el negocio.
That year, I started scouting locations to set up another production team outside of New Orleans. A friend of mine told me I should visit Rincón, Puerto Rico, because they had a thriving arts community. I came to Rincon and experienced my first Artwalk - and was just blown away by the creativity here. I met so many amazing people during that first trip, and just fell in love with the community. I rented an apartment and started training our initial team of artisans...and then Hurricane Maria hit. But, being from New Orleans, I knew all too well how hard it would be to recover from the storm. It strengthened my commitment to continue working here, and not long after the storm, my daughter Amiel and I came back to volunteer with restoration efforts. She fell in love with Rincon, and promptly moved here full time - and I followed shortly after.
Ese año, comencé a buscar locaciones para establecer otro equipo de producción fuera de Nueva Orleans. Un amigo mío me dijo que debería visitar Rincón, Puerto Rico, porque tenían una comunidad artística próspera. Vine a Rincón y experimenté mi primer Artwalk, y quedé impresionado por la creatividad aquí. Conocí a tanta gente increíble durante ese primer viaje y me enamoré de la comunidad. Alquilé un apartamento y comencé a capacitar a nuestro equipo inicial de artesanos... y luego llegó el huracán María. Pero, siendo de Nueva Orleans, sabía muy bien lo difícil que sería recuperarse de la tormenta. Reforzó mi compromiso de seguir trabajando aquí, y no mucho después de la tormenta, mi hija Amiel y yo volvimos como voluntarios en los esfuerzos de restauración. Se enamoró de Rincón y rápidamente se mudó aquí a tiempo completo, y yo la seguí poco después.
As our Restrung family grew, Amiel and I settled into life on the island. One day, we were out in the water and we started to talk about opening a shop here - a place where you could find things for your home, a place that could feature talented artisans from Puerto Rico - and a place that could showcase quality artisan products from across the globe. And that is how Trove got started. During the pandemic, we secured and renovated the space, and had plenty of time to handpick products that we loved. Amiel has really taken the reins with curating the space - and I am so proud of the creative energy she has put into developing the space - including her beautiful dried floral installations! She has a keen eye for design, and finds the coolest housewares, clothing, and accessories from the island and all over the world. I seek out skilled artisans during my travels, so we have a beautiful collection of handmade products that come straight from the artist’s hands. We make a really good team! To us, Trove is really a dream come true - and it’s one we want to share with you. Our goal is for everyone who comes through our doors to feel welcome and find something they truly love. And we are just so grateful to everyone in Rincón who has supported this dream and helped make it happen. We look forward to serving our community as we grow!
A medida que nuestra familia ReStrung crecía, Amiel y yo nos instalamos en la isla. Un día, estábamos en el agua y comenzamos a hablar sobre abrir una tienda aquí, un lugar donde pudieras encontrar cosas para tu hogar, un lugar que pudiera presentar talentosos artesanos de Puerto Rico y un lugar que pudiera exhibir artesanos de calidad y productos de todo el mundo. Y así fue como empezó Trove. Durante la pandemia, aseguramos y renovamos el espacio, y tuvimos mucho tiempo para elegir los productos que nos encantaban. Amiel realmente ha tomado las riendas de la curaduría del espacio, y estoy muy orgullosa de la energía creativa que ha puesto en el desarrollo del espacio, ¡incluidas sus hermosas instalaciones de flores secas! Tiene buen ojo para el diseño y encuentra los mejores artículos para el hogar, ropa y accesorios de la isla y de todo el mundo. Busco artesanos expertos durante mis viajes, por lo que tenemos una hermosa colección de productos hechos a mano que vienen directamente de las manos del artista. ¡Hacemos muy buen equipo! Para nosotros, Trove es realmente un sueño hecho realidad, y queremos compartirlo contigo. Isla Made is a new and unique business that just opened it’s doors in Rincón! Isla Made’s owner, Melissa Sarmiento Guyot, was born in New York and her parents are Puerto Rican from Bo. Espinal in Aguada. After living in Puerto Rico for three years, Melissa had the idea of opening her business in the town of Rincón, which consists of two spaces. The first space is a completely unique coffee shop, which only serves local quality coffee (Cafe Papamin) grown in the town of San Sebastián. It also offers a variety of tasty baked goods. They have a selection of coffee with different flavors and the syrups are made with local products in Puerto Rico. They are currently working on a new menu that offers local products according to the season. Isla Made is open Thursday through Monday from 8am - 4pm. Page Page1818
¡Isla Made es un nuevo y único negocio que acaba de abrir sus puertas en Rincón! Su propietaria, Melissa Sarmiento Guyot, nacida en New York de padres puertorriqueños del Bo. Espinal en Aguada. Melissa lleva tres años viviendo en Puerto Rico y tuvo la idea de abrir su negocio en el Pueblo de Rincón, el cual consiste de dos espacios. El primer espacio es un “coffee shop” completamente único, el cual solo sirven café de calidad local (Cafe Papamin) cultivado en el pueblo de San Sebastián. También ofrece una variedad de productos horneados en la tienda. Tienen una variedad de café con diferentes sabores y los siropes son con productos locales en Puerto Rico. The second floor of the building is where the shop is located, it offers a variety of household items, clothing, soaps, jewelry, pet supplies, candles, and art pieces. Every product is made by local artisans on the Island. Next week they will be opening a garden to sell plants, preserved flowers from different local farms, and a plant propagation area where people can take plants for a donation or exchange plants for the organization Salva Tres Palmas.
En la parte superior del establecimiento se encuentra la tienda, donde ofrece una variedad de artículos para la casa, ropa, jabones, joyería, artículos para mascotas, velas y piezas de arte. Todos estos productos son de artistas locales de la Isla. Durante la próxima semana estará abriendo un jardín para vender plantas, flores preservadas de diferentes fincas locales, y tendrá un área de propagación de plantas el cual las personas podrán llevarse por una donación o intercambio de plantas para la organización de Salva Tres Palmas.
Isla Made will be a place where people can discover different artists, designers, and farmers from the Island of Puerto RIco. They will continue to collaborate with new local brands in an effort to show people all the beautiful and quality products that exist on our Island.

Melissa’s greatest inspiration to open this business was her aunt Yilda, who will be helping in the plant propagation area. The most important thing is to support local artisan, farmers, the cultivation of plants, and coffee while also making people feel as if they were at home! Soon, Isla Made will be offering different workshops using local products from the Island.
La mayor inspiración de Melissa para abrir este negocio fue su tía Yilda, la cual estará ayudando en el área del jardín. Lo más importante es apoyar lo local, el cultivo de plantas, el café y hacer sentir a las personas como si estuvieran en su casa! But before we continue, we must state the obvious: Never eat mushrooms that you find unless you are 100% certain and/or are with someone who is 100% sure they can identify the mushroom, or a trained professional. Ok, let’s get to it!
Pero antes de continuar, debemos decir lo obvio: nunca coma hongos que encuentre a menos que esté 100 % seguro y/o esté con alguien que esté 100 % seguro de que puede identificar el hongo o un profesional capacitado. Bien, ¡vamos a ello!
The ‘shroom boom’ is a real thing. From companies making clothing out of mushroom mycelium to incredible documentaries like Fantastic Fungi, it’s safe to say that mushrooms are having a moment. As they should!
El ‘boom de hongos’ es algo real. Desde compañías que fabrican ropa con micelio de hongos hasta documentales increíbles como Fantastic Fungi, es seguro decir que los hongos están teniendo su momento. ¡Como deberían!
Here in Puerto Rico we’re lucky to have many different microclimates that are home to about 3,500 known species. If that sounds like a lot, well...it’s not! It is estimated that between 15-20% of the fungi collected in a single forage trip will be new, unrecorded species.
Aquí en Puerto Rico tenemos la suerte de tener muchos microclimas diferentes que albergan alrededor de 3,500 especies conocidas. Si eso suena como mucho, bueno... ¡no lo es! Se estima que entre el 15-20% de los hongos recolectados en un solo viaje de forraje serán especies nuevas, no registradas.
There’s a whole lot of mushrooms to forage out there people! Get to it! One of our favorite mushroom species is Hericium Erinaceus, which is the more cultivated species of what is commonly known as ‘Lion’s Mane’. Fortunately for us living here in Puerto Rico, we can find its closely related cousin, Hericium Coralloides, growing beautiful in the wild! Hericicum Coralloides, commonly known as Comb Tooth or Coral Tooth Mushroom, is a delicious mushroom that has a slight umami taste with a hint of crab meat. It has a special texture. Legend has it that some people have been able to make ‘Ropa Vieja’ with it since it’s perfect for shredding. At least that’s what we’ve heard. If you try it, then definitely let us know.

¡Hay un montón de hongos para buscar gente! ¡Hazlo! Una de nuestras especies de hongos favoritas es Hericium Erinaceus, que es la especie más cultivada de lo que comúnmente se conoce como ‘Lion’s Mane’. Afortunadamente para nosotros que vivimos aquí en Puerto Rico, podemos encontrar a su primo estrechamente relacionado, Hericium Coralloides, creciendo hermoso en la naturaleza. Hericicum Coralloides, comúnmente conocido como Comb Tooth o Coral Tooth Mushroom, es un delicioso hongo que tiene un ligero sabor a umami con un toque de carne de cangrejo. Tiene una textura especial. Cuenta la leyenda que algunas personas han podido hacer ‘Ropa Vieja’ con él ya que es perfecto para triturar. Al menos eso es lo que hemos oído. Si lo intentas, definitivamente háznoslo saber.
Ok, ok. So they’re delicious. There’s plenty of deliciousness here in Puerto Rico. Tell me something I don’t know. Ok. You’re right. Are you sitting down? Because this is going to blow your mind. There is a special compound in the Hericium specie, called Erinacin, that has been shown to be a potent stimulator of nerve growth factor synthesis in your brain. That’s right. Brain food. Hold on! We know you’re putting on your hiking boots and are ready to go out there to forage some Comb Tooth, but there’s more you need to know. Not too many have been found here in Puerto Rico, but then again, not too many people have been foraging for them. So if you venture out, just know that they like to grow on dead wood or on a tree that’s been injured. They love high humidity and temperatures ranging from 65 degrees Fahrenheit all the way into the 80s. When you see one, you’ll notice how the branches make it look like a coral. If you harvest it, make sure to cut close to the base, that way you can remove it in one piece. It might have insects on it so make sure to brush them off. The Comb Tooth should be all white. Any yellowish means it’s a bit old and its taste will be sour or unpleasant. There’s ‘mush’ more learn my friends! Happy foraging!

Hay un compuesto especial en la especie Hericium, llamado Erinacin, que ha demostrado ser un potente estimulador de la síntesis del factor de crecimiento nervioso en el cerebro. Así es, comida para el cerebro. ¡Espera! Sabemos que se está poniendo sus botas de montaña y está listo para salir a buscar un poco de Comb Tooth, pero hay más que necesita saber. No se han encontrado muchos aquí en Puerto Rico, pero de nuevo, no mucha gente los ha estado buscando. Entonces, si te aventuras, solo debes saber que les gusta crecer en madera muerta o en un árbol que ha sido dañado. Les encanta la alta humedad y las temperaturas que van desde los 65 a 80 grados Fahrenheit. Cuando veas uno, notarás cómo las ramas lo hacen parecer un coral. Si lo cosecha, asegúrese de cortar cerca de la base, de esa manera puede quitarlo en una sola pieza. Es posible que tenga insectos, así que asegúrate de cepillarlos. El diente del peine debe ser todo blanco. Cualquier color amarillento significa que está un poco viejo y su sabor será agrio o desagradable. Hay ‘mush’ más por aprender mis amigos! ¡Feliz forrajeo!

Giovanni Guzman first caught my attention with his videos diving with
sharks, showing that these important animals are not inherently violent or aggressive. But he kept my attention because he’s constantly sharing educational content concerned with the overall health of the ocean. He’s a marine biologist who advocates for all marine life, and who teaches about the important role of sharks to the ocean ecosystem. (It is important to note that he does NOT promote approaching sharks. Being in the water and building relationships with marine creatures is his everyday work.) iovanni Guzmán me atrapo la atención por primera vez con sus videos buceando con tiburones, enseñándonos que estos animales importantes no son injertamente violentos o agresivos. Siguió captivando mi atención porque constantemente comparte contenido educacional en relación a la salud del océano. El es un biólogo marino que defende toda la vida marina y quien educa sobre el rol importante de los tiburones en el ecosistema. (Es importante notar que el NO promueve acercarse a tiburones. Estar en el mar y fortalecer una relación con criaturas marinas es su trabajo diario). When did you know/decide that you wanted to be a marine biologist? Since I was little I always went with my dad to the ocean, he practiced fishing with a harpoon. There, I definitely gained a lot of love for the marine environment. Over time, I began to see that the places I frequented were deteriorating and the marine life was disappearing. It was in that moment that I decided to study Marine Biology, I wanted to know what was happening and I wanted to help the ocean in some way. I knew something was wrong, but I had no idea what. You have traveled a lot around the world. What is one of your favorite places and why? For me, Galapagos is probably my favorite place. Its geographical position, underwater currents, and many other biological factors give The Galapagos a unique biodiversity in the world. But one of the things that surprised me the most is how well they protect and control tourism on the islands. The way in which they maintain control of the boats and the number of people who visit different areas is admirable. Galapagos is one of those places that never stops surprising you and to which you will always want to return. What is the most common type of shark seen in Puerto Rico? Personally, due to the areas and depths that I frequent, the most common shark that I have seen in Puerto Rico is the Caribbean Reef Shark. These sharks are found mostly on reefs not only in Puerto Rico, but throughout the Caribbean and can grow to around 10 feet. After sharks, what are your 3 favorite sea animals? This is definitely a difficult question to answer, but it could be whales, manta rays and dolphins. When did you start specializing in sharks? Although I am aware that in Puerto Rico I am perhaps the person who is around sharks most often (because I am in the water almost every day), even so, I do not consider myself a shark specialist. I still have a lot to learn and share with many other species of sharks in the ocean. Nor in the future would I like to be known as a shark specialist, but rather as a person who is doing his bit to help protect them. Do you have a more memorable shark experience? Although I have many, I would say the most memorable was in the Galapagos, seeing a school of over 30 Hammerhead Sharks at Gordon’s Rock. And it was the most memorable because when I was little I always watched the documentaries of those schools in that place, so to be able to see it with my own eyes was a dream come true. ¿Cuándo supiste/decidiste que querías ser biólogo marino? De pequeño siempre iba con mi papá al mar, quien practicaba pesca con arpón. Ahí, definitivamente le cogí mucho amor al ambiente marino. Con el tiempo, comencé a ver que los lugares que frecuentaba se estaban deteriorando y que la vida marina estaba desapareciendo. No fue hasta ese momento que decidí estudiar Biología Marina, quería saber que estaba pasando y quería ayudar de alguna forma al océano. Sabía que algo malo estaba pasando, pero no tenía idea de lo que era. Has viajado mucho por el mundo. ¿Cuál es uno de tus lugares favoritos y por qué? Para mí, Galápagos es probablemente mi lugar favorito. Su posición geográfica, corrientes submarinas y muchos otros factores biológicos, hacen que Galápagos tenga una biodiversidad única en el mundo. Pero una de las cosas que más me sorprendió, es lo bien que protegen y controlan el turismo en las islas. Es admirable la forma en la que mantienen control de las embarcaciones y número de personas que visitan distintas áreas. En fin, Galápagos es uno de esos lugares que no para de sorprenderte y al cual siempre querrás volver. ¿Cuál es el tipo de tiburón más común visto en Puerto Rico? Personalmente, por las áreas y profundidades que frecuento, el tiburón más común que he visto en Puerto Rico es el Caribbean Reef Shark. Estos tiburones se encuentran mayormente en los arrecifes no sólo de Puerto Rico, sino de todo el Caribe y pueden llegar a medir hasta alrededor de 10 pies. Después de los tiburones, ¿cuáles son tus 3 animales marinos favoritos? Definitivamente es una pregunta difícil de contestar, pero pudieran ser las ballenas, mantarrayas y delfines. ¿Cuándo empezaste a especializarte en tiburones? Aunque estoy consciente que en Puerto Rico quizás soy la persona que está alrededor de tiburones con más frecuencia (pues estoy en el agua casi todos los días), aun así, no me considero especialista de tiburones. Me falta mucho aún por conocer, y compartir junto a muchas más especies de tiburones en el océano. Tampoco en un futuro quisiera ser conocido como un especialista en tiburones, si no como una persona que está poniendo su granito de arena para ayudar a protegerlos. ¿Tienes una experiencia con tiburones más memorable? Aunque tengo muchas, diría que la más memorable fue en Galápagos, viendo una escuela de más de 30 Tiburones Martillos en Gordon’s Rock. Y fue la más memorable porque cuando era pequeño siempre veía los documentales de esas escuelas en ese lugar, así que poder verlo con mis propios ojos fue un sueño hecho realidad. Creating new leaders and caregivers for our community! This initiative began in September of the year 2019 when the Hon. Mayor Carlos D. Lopez Bonilla was in dialogue with residents in the different communities of the area so that they had the capacity to work in different types of emergencies based on needs that have been faced later by Hurricane Maria. As a result of these talks, the initiative was taken to promote that our young people, from the Manuel Garcia Perez High School, be trained in a professional manner and under all the regulations that allow them to be first responders at all times. Whether inside or outside the school campus. After several months in coordination and establishment, this academy had to be put on pause due to all the limitations that occurred with the passage of the pandemic and other public health limitations at the time. Thanks to all existing efforts, it resumed its course in September 2021. Cadets must go through a series of training sessions, modules and/or drills within the school campus that they must pass. After that, they have to go through a camp (final exam) where they have to implement all the modules learned during the year. The camp consists of 24 active hours of instruction.
¡Creando nuevos líderes y cuidadores de nuestra comunidad! Esta iniciativa comienza en septiembre del año 2019 donde el Hon. Alcalde Carlos D. Lopez Bonilla estuvo dialogando con residentes en las diferentes comunidades del área para que se tuviera la capacidad de trabajar en diferentes tipos de emergencias en base a necesidades que se han enfrentado luego del Huracán María. A raíz de estas pláticas se toma la iniciativa de promover a que nuestros jóvenes de la Escuela Superior Manuel Garcia Perez fueran entrenados de una forma profesional y bajo todas las regulaciones que les permita ser primeros respondedores en todo momento. Ya sea dentro o fuera del plantel escolar. Luego de varios meses en coordinación y establecimiento se tuvo que poner en pausa esta academia por todas las limitaciones que ocurrieron con el paso de la pandemia y demás sucesos ocurridos dentro de la salud pública al momento. Gracias a todos los esfuerzos existentes, la misma retomó su curso en septiembre del año 2021. Los cadetes deben pasar por una serie de adiestramientos, módulos y/o simulacros dentro del plantel escolar que deben aprobar. Posteriormente a eso, tienen que pasar por un campamento (examen final) donde tienen que implementar todos los módulos aprendidos durante el año. El campamento se comprende de 24 horas activas.

. The grades that make up the academy are from ninth to twelfth. The dynamic begins with the twelfth grade students because those in the higher grade are leaving the legacy to those in the lower grade. As they advance in grade, they qualify as instructors and can teach what they have learned to the other cadets who are about to complete the following modules in the system.
Los grados que componen la academia son desde noveno hasta duodécimo. La dinámica comienza con los estudiantes de duodécimo porque los del grado mayor van dejando el legado a los del grado menor. Mientras avanzan de grado, ellos se cualifican como instructores y pueden ir enseñando lo aprendido a los demás cadetes que están próximos a cumplir con los siguientes módulos en sistema.
Students who have already graduated from the academy continue a re-training process by completing different exercises and modules that are assigned to them. To the point that they must assist other groups of cadets to fulfill assigned missions within the modules to be completed before each class. It gives them a habit of study and constant learning where they also accumulate points that later bring rewards.
Estudiantes ya graduados de la academia, continúan un proceso de re-adiestramiento cumpliendo con diferentes ejercicios y módulos que se les asignan. Al punto que deben asistir a otros grupos de cadetes a cumplir misiones asignadas dentro de los módulos a completar antes de cada clase. Les brinda un hábito de estudio y aprendizaje constante donde además acumulan puntos que más adelante traen recompensas.
This system has helped create community leaders and first responders at the municipal and state levels. Each cadet has to fulfill a leadership role and the ability to manage groups under any incident command. A large part of these cadets have remained as part of Volunteer Corps for Emergencies in Rincón
Este sistema ha ayudado a crear líderes comunitarios y primeros respondedores a nivel municipal y estatal. Cada cadete tiene que cumplir con un rol de líder y con la capacidad de poder manejar grupos bajo cualquier comando de incidencias. Gran parte de estos cadetes se han quedado como parte del Cuerpo Voluntario Para Emergencias de Rincón.
On March 16, 2022, around 17-20 new cadets began, after completing 70% of what the academy established. New ninth graders are now expected to be recruited. The impact of this initiative has been so great that students from other adjacent schools are requesting talks and transfer information to be able to be part of this project.
El pasado 16 de marzo de 2022 se iniciaron alrededor de 17-20 cadetes luego de haber completado un 70% de lo que establece la academia. Ahora se espera reclutar nuevos estudiantes de noveno grado. Ha sido tanto el impacto de esta iniciativa que estudiantes de otras escuelas adyacentes se encuentran solicitando charlas e información de traslado para poder ser parte de este proyecto.
