Description: Frustrated by complaints from parents and colleagues? Explore the best way to receive and effectively respond to complaints in your classroom. Strategies to become an effective listener and complainer will also be given to increase your communication skills with others. Increase your professionalism and lower your stress level with a plan.

Learners will examine the CLASS Tool, observation process and threshold scores in relation to the evaluation requirements of the school readiness program assessment. Learners will discuss how they can interpret and plan professional development using CLASS scores. Using a Summary Score Sheet from a CLASS Observation, learners will demonstrate an understanding of how to interpret the data to identify strengths, challenges and areas of practice requiring change in order to increase scores during observations.

Description: This training is appropriate for preschool educators and directors, and is open to all. Participants will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities supporting developmentally appropriate instruction in phonological awareness as well as explore the phonological awareness stages of development. The training is designed to complement the initial training, Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten and the Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors online course. This course consists of three learning components: the online or instructorled component, a lesson planning and practice component, and a virtual reflection session. This course meets 5 hours of the emergent literacy course requirement for VPK educators. Upon completion of all three learning components participants will receive 5 hours/.5 CEU credits.
Special Note: Participants must register on the DCF Child Care Training website at https://training01-dcf.myflorida.com/ studentsite/admin/signin. Use Course Reference #9508. This course meets twice. March 12, 2022 will be 3 hours completing Component 1 of the course. April 16, 2022 will be one hour completing Component 3. Participants will complete Component 2 on their own between sessions. All components must be completed for credit. No one will be admitted after 15 minutes.
OUTCOMES:
Recognize the key elements for early language and literacy development. Describe the stages of PA development and understand the connections of emergent reading and writing. Identify the phonological awareness standard and benchmarks for 4-year-olds. Plan and implement phonological awareness instruction using developmentally appropriate activities.

Description: Come learn more about how you can incorporate the Toddler CLASS tool in your own classroom! This highly interactive course is designed to introduce learners to strategies they can use in the classroom to facilitate toddlers’ competency in navigating their world. Toddlers need many meaningful opportunities to make decisions, develop responsibility, practice self-care skills and engage with other toddlers. Learners will explore how to adapt their current classroom practices and increase the intentionality of their interactions with children to effectively promote toddlers’ autonomy and independence. This learning event will be conducted on Zoom format.
Special Note: CEU credits will be awarded upon successful completion of 2.5 hours of instructor led instruction and a 30 minute field assignment. Field assignment will be scored using a rubric related to learner outcomes. Note: providers taking this course as a QIP strategy must complete the 3-hour CLASS Orientation and Understanding your Scores before taking this course.

Identify effective strategies from the Toddler CLASS tool for supporting toddler independence in the classroom
Apply and evaluate implementation of one CLASS strategy introduced in the course

Description: CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI) helps early childhood professionals engage with the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) as they identify and understand the interactions that increase children’s learning and development. Participants will learn how to use the CLASS observation tool for considering teaching practices and guiding observations of classroom videos and real-life interactions.
Special Note: There will be a 30 minute break between Saturday sessions. You must attend each session and complete an instructional survey (last session) in order to receive full credit, complete assigned ‘homework’ between sessions, including reflective planning and practice, viewing on line resources, and participation in the on line discussion forum. Participants for this training MUST have access to high-speed Internet in order to access/view online resources and discussion forum. CEUs/certificate of completion is provided by Teachstone.
