Description: Please join us to learn how to incorporate social studies concepts in your classroom with regard to the CLASS dimensions. Specific topics will be related to diversity, inclusivity, geography, and communities. Special Note: CEU credits will be awarded upon successful completion of 2.5 hours of instructor led instruction with 30 minutes of field assignment. Field assignment will be scored using a rubric related to learner outcomes.

Description: CLASS group Coaching (MMCI) helps early childhood professionals engage with the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) as they identify and understand the interactions that increase children’s learning and development. Participants will learn how to use the CLASS observation tool for considering teaching practices and guiding observations of classroom videos and real-life interactions.

OUTCOMES: Formulate ideas that promote inclusivity, individuality, and representation during lessons both and within the classroom environment. Plan ways to incorporate familiar places within the community into learning. Relate social studies concepts to children’s real life experiences Discuss concepts related to social studies. Use strategies discussed to engage children in play based learning Reflect as needed.

TO EARN AN ACHIEVEMENT BONUS • Must be teaching in Hillsborough County to qualify for the Achievement Bonus

Special Note: Be on time and attend all 12 sessions. Complete assigned ‘homework’ between sessions, including reflective planning and practice, viewing online resources, and participation in the online discussion forum. Maintain a 75% attention and participation rate during discussions and activities. Participants for this training MUST have access to high-speed Internet in order to access/view online resources and discussion forum.
