Description: This training is appropriate for preschool educators and directors, and is open to all. Participants will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities supporting developmentally appropriate instruction in phonological awareness as well as explore the phonological awareness stages of development. The training is designed to complement the initial training, Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten and the Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors online course. This course consists of three learning components: the instructor-led component, a lesson planning and practice component, and a virtual reflection session. This course meets 5 hours of the emergent literacy course requirement for VPK educators. Upon completion of all three learning components participants will receive 5 hours/.5 CEU credits
Special Note: Participants must register on the DCF Child Care Training website at https://training01-dcf.myflorida.com/ studentsite/admin/signin. Use Course Reference #10053. This course meets twice. November 5, 2022 will be 3 hours face-to-face, completing Component 1 of the course. December 5, 2022 will be one hour online completing Component 3. Participants will complete Component 2 on their own between sessions. All components must be completed for credit. Online platform information will be given during Component 1 presentation. No one will be admitted after 15 minutes.
OUTCOMES:
Recognize the key elements of early language and literacy development. Describe the stages of PA development and understand the connections of emergent reading and writing. Identify the phonological awareness standard and benchmarks for 4-year-olds. Plan and implement phonological awareness instruction using developmentally appropriate activities.

• Must be teaching in Hillsborough County to qualify for the Achievement Bonus • All requirements of the course must be met (Pre/post, homework assignments, reflection, and LMS instructor evaluation, if applicable). • Each individual is limited to 3 training achievement bonuses from July to

Description: This training is based on the newly revised Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and provides an overview of the standards used in preschool classrooms serving children ages three years old to Kindergarten. This training meets the lead VPK instructor training requirements and incorporates the standards approved for use in VPK programs. Examples of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies for preschool age children are provided throughout the training along with information about purposeful planning, reflective practice and qualities of an effective educator. Through an interactive presentation, video clips, and hands-on activities, participants will become familiar with the Standards and understand the elements of quality instruction in preschool classrooms.

OUTCOMES:
Be knowledgeable of the 2017 Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. Utilize the Educator’s Guide to Understanding the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards when planning developmentally appropriate experiences in VPK and multi-aged classrooms. Understand the characteristics of an effective educator, elements of quality instruction and the importance of reflective practice to support children’s continued growth and development.

Description: Join us for a closer look at the CLASS tool to learn how to incorporate language and literacy concepts in your infant and toddler classrooms with regard to the CLASS dimensions. Specific topics will be related to Infant and Toddler Language, Literacy and Communication strategies as well as Planning and Exploration designed to help you improve your CLASS score.
OUTCOMES:
Compare effective strategies to use in the classroom as it relates to the CLASS tool, with current classroom strategies regarding typical classroom interactions with children.
Implement strategies introduced during the course within their classroom and complete a course strategy reflection form.
