Award given to HILLDING, a 66,000-square-foot, mixed-use, 34-unit apartment building with integrated parking and retail located in an area rich in history and in need of both market-rate and low-income housing. HILLDING’s massing relationships, gracefully aging materials, and lush landscaping bring nature into an urban environment. The four-story, light-frame wood structure is set over a concrete podium with above-grade parking, and 13,200 square feet of commercial space is anchored by a food co-op, event space, and childcare center. This net-zero building has a EUI of +3.
