The Design Middle East Awards, KSA were held on February 9, 2023, at the Fairmont Riyadh to celebrate and recognize the talent, projects, and companies that are game changers in the region.

Alia is an urban designer and sustainability advocate with a background in architecture. She’s Passionate about sustainability, and works alongside AECOM’s purpose, to deliver a better world, and uses transformative ideas and methods to design responsibly.

The 48HR Film Challenge was part of a collaboration between the Alliance Française of Saudi Arabia. The challenge encourages Saudi and Saudi-resident filmmakers aged from 18-25 to produce new works.

Tala Al Harbi and her team : Natalie Alsarraj, Madawi Alyahya, Lujain Salaam and Raghda Baharetha from Cinematic Arts Department have won 2nd place in this challenge.

Won the golden palm for best animated film in short film competition awards.

This competition focuses on developing sustainable and practical solutions for Arab countries, in line with the United Nations' 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). The SDGs address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, education, climate change, water availability, innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cities, energy efficiency, food security, environmental degradation, collaboration and partnerships, life underwater, peace, and justice.

Our Student Dur Jamjoom

has received an Honorable Mention award for her short film Freedom (as a part of the Advanced Cinematography course) at the 2022 Student World Impact Film Festival (US). Her work was recognized amongst more than 5,400 entries from 120 countries. This is an outstanding achievement!

The annual Winter Enrichment Program is a two-week-long signature event for KAUST that brings together the world's greatest thinkers and leaders at the intersection of academia, research, culture, and innovation.

Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Effat College of Engineering

Dr. Nema Salem received a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from a joint program between Alexandria University in Egypt and Calgary University in Canada, with over 25 years of teaching experience. she received several awards and recognitions for her achievements in teaching and organizing events and workshops related to science and engineering. These include the Fellow (FHEA) Fellowship, best student satisfaction rate award, and awards for organizing various events and workshops. she has also been awarded for being a jury member in the first Lego competition of the seventh robotic national Olympiad in Jeddah.

Ms. Marina is a film editor and filmmaker with over 9 years of experience in various content, including commercials, documentaries, feature films, and music videos. Her noteworthy accomplishment is receiving the "Best United Kingdom Documentary Short Film" award - 2019 London International Motion Pictures Awards for her poetic documentary OREGU.

Dr. Abdulaziz T. Almaktoom

Associate Professor & Chair of Operations & Supply Chain Management Department, Effat College of Business

Dr. Abdulaziz Almaktoom holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Wichita State University and is a certified supply chain analyst and LEAN Six Sigma trainer. He is also a Certified Fellow (FHEA) from Advance HE, United Kingdom, and has published numerous journal and conference papers.

Dr. Almaktoom's research interests include Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Optimization under Uncertainty, Failure Diagnostics and Prognostics, Lean Supply Chain Management, Facilities Planning, Energy, Sustainability, and Industrial Ergonomics and Safety.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mousa. a full professor of computational sciences at Effat University, Saudi Arabia, with over 25 years of research experience in computational sciences, applied mathematics, and various fields of engineering. He has held research positions in several universities around the world and has published over 180 research works including journal papers, conference papers, and book chapters.

Dr. Khalid has contributed to several international conferences and published works on various themes relevant to Islamic Studies. Dr. Mady Mohammed

Professor, Architecture Department, Effat College of Architecture And Design

Prof. Dr. Mady Mohamed, Associate Professor of Architecture. He received his PhD degree at Dundee School of Architecture, UK on July/2009. with more than 20 years of academic and practice experience. Through his private firm, Mady participated in the design and construction for several projects and he was the sole architect and the main architectural/LEED consultant for different residential, office, medical and educational buildings.

Prof. Mady became an authorized architectural consultant by the Egyptian Syndicate for Engineering in 2013 and a LEED Green Associate by the USGBC in 2014 and. He is an authorized trainer for Education for Sustainable development ESD by the European Union/Egyptian Ministry of Education since 2014.

Dr. Mohamed Khalil holds a PhD. in Comparative Civilizations from the University of Athens - Greece. with 18 years of teaching experience. He had worked at the University of Asiut – Egypt 2004-2013, and has been an Assistant Professor in the General Education Department

s. Huda Al-Harbi holds a Master Degree in SF (previously XIFM) and aBachelor degree in Accounting with over 10 years of experience.

Ms. Huda is an accomplished and dedicated professional in the field of accounting and information systems. She has obtained various certifications in the IT field, such as the A+ Certification from Microsoft and the Microsoft Certified System Engineering certification.
