Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Our TK program is thoughtfully designed as a true bridge between preschool and kindergarten, honoring this specific developmental moment. Learning is joyful, multi-sensory, and rooted in play. Curiosity is sparked through movement, sensory exploration, and imaginative experiences laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Join Mrs. Haley and Ms. Guttormsen in the classroom for sensory bin exploration, a fine motor noodle activity, and free play in the classroom and our TK yard.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten anchors our primary K–2 arc, where students learn at their own pace through a balance of teacher-guided and independent centers. Hands-on exploration, outdoor play, and sensory experiences foster curiosity while building confidence and excitement for learning. Meet Mrs. Albrecht and Ms. Brooks and explore the two sensory tables, kindergarten yard, and winter themed coloring exercises.

1st Grade

First grade marks an exciting “step up,” where learning becomes more conceptual and students begin asking why as imagination meets academic rigor. Reading, math, and problem-solving come alive through varied modalities, while gentle responsibility building helps students develop ownership of their learning. Join Ms. Moran in Lego construction, geometric puzzles, storytime read-alouds and word activities.

2nd Grade

Second grade highlights the importance of socialemotional learning alongside academics, using the RULER framework to build emotional awareness and growth mindset. Students are developing relational intelligence, resilience, and life skills that strengthen both learning and relationships. Join Mrs. Grazer and Mrs. Antti in creating calming jars and a create your own “mood meter” station.

3rd Grade

Third grade, the beginning of elementary school is a key transition year where students deepen reading comprehension, written expression, and critical thinking. Growth mindset and project-based learning take center stage, supported by strong teacherstudent relationships that help students stretch academically and personally. Explore the concept of a growth mindset through a “growth vs. fixed mindset” matching game with Mrs. Yazzolino.

4th Grade

Fourth grade emphasizes the “Power of Place,” as students shift from learning to read toward reading to learn. Through California history, local field trips, and their first overnight experience, students build independence, curiosity, and communication skills. Meet Ms. Caselli who will share models of the human hand and the human eye and the mechanics of the human body.

5th Grade

Fifth graders step into leadership as they build strong study skills, organization, and independence. Through backward planning and hands-on STEM challenges, students begin seeing themselves as capable leaders and role models within the lower school community. Mrs. Studebaker will guide visitors in STEM challenges in a Valentine’s theme!

6th Grade

Sixth grade introduces the middle school experience in a supportive, closely guided environment where students feel seen and heard. The emphasis on communication and practical mastery of math and language concepts are used to navigate the world into iyoung adulthood. These skills helps students develop a healthy sense of self during a pivotal stage of growth. Mr. Durgin will highlight the middle school difference with an introduction to student video showcase projects while touching on experiential learning through electives.

7th Grade

Seventh grade deepens the middle school experience with a focus on executive functioning, real-world application, and 21st-century skills. Project-based learning, leadership opportunities, and socialemotional development prepare students for high school and beyond. Mr. Berka will guide visitors in math challenges and an introduction to Mayan hieroglyphs.

8th Grade

Eighth grade brings Love, Learn, Lead into action through service, leadership, and student voice. Capstone service projects allow students to apply their learning meaningfully while reflecting on their growth and impact within the wider community. Meet Mrs. Irvine and a panel of current students and alumni to highlight their experience with service learning and leadership at TPS.

Science

Science at Presentation is hands-on, driven by curiosity, and rooted in real inquiry. Students design experiments, analyze data, and present findings, mirroring the work of real scientists while building critical thinking and collaboration skills that endure. Meet Dr. Greg Garrison, “Doc. G” and his team of scientists who will lead visitors in a variety of experiments. Who’s ready to make elephant toothpaste?

Art

Art is integrated across all grade levels, connecting creative expression to history, culture, and classroom learning. Students explore a wide range of materials and techniques, producing meaningful work that reflects both artistic skill and academic connections. Meet Mrs. Boles in the art studio who will lead a paint bubble marbling activity and air dry clay play work.

Spanish

Spanish instruction focuses on culture, communication, and engagement through interactive games and real-world language use. Students connect playfully while building foundational skills that grow year to year. Visit Maestro De La Cruz and play a game of Lotería (Bingo) with students in his classroom!

Music

Music is an active, interactive experience where students explore rhythm, melody, and collaboration through instrument play, chorale, and meaningful connections to music history. From exploration to performance, students build confidence, creativity, and a shared sense of community. Meet Mr. Zachary and make some music through hands-on instrument exploration for curious learners of all ages.

Physical Education

PE emphasizes teamwork, coordination, and confidence through engaging physical challenges like climbing and movement exploration. Students build resilience, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for physical well-being. Join Coach Freitas in the gymnasium for rock wall climbing and a gymnastics circuit for our youngest visitors!
