our funds for rapid response opportunities. If there is a brilliant student from abroad who needs a scholarship to come to our School, we are ready to move immediately. If we need architectural drawings of a redesigned Reading Room to show a donor what might be possible to achieve, the Dean’s Circle fund is there. We are recruiting top students across Saskatchewan, but sometimes there is a gap in scholarships available for students whose averages are between 78% and 85%. These students can be exceptional in their communities and Dean’s Circle will provide the funding to attract these excellent students. Dean’s Circle lets us be fleet-footed. And the students at the Edwards School are worth the investment. They are hard-working, ethical, and loyal. I created a small fund a few years ago called The Next Big Thing that would give students microloans of $7,000 to $10,000 if they had good proposals for student clubs, competitions, and events. There has never been a single default. That is the Saskatchewan advantage. Integrity. We have many students involved in co-operative education placements, and 100% of them are employed upon graduation. The more I know these students, the more confident I am that there is a special ingredient that makes them good people. That’s why I started Dean’s Circle, and that’s why I joined Dean’s Circle myself. I hope you enjoy reading our first report. Two Dean’s Circle members sit on our expenditure approvals committee. Thank you to Shelley Brown and Scott McCreath for their careful scrutiny of our uses of funds. We always will account for every penny we raise, in an open and transparent manner. While we are funding Dean’s Circle, we are also creating our own network in which we can continue to meet with each other, have fun, and stay connected to the Edwards School. Dean’s Circle members are paying it forward and the Edwards School is grateful for the support.
