Letter from The Managing Director

Dear Parents and Students,

In the International School of Elite Education, excellence is our end in mind. This is achieved by adopting a holistic approach to education following a rigorous set of curricula. We aim to develop our students’ wide array of skills through experiential learning in an enjoyable and inviting school life.

Faith in our mission along with a team of dedicated and highly qualified teachers, and a rich learning environment are the components to excellence that will inspire our students to do their best and excel in their lives. May God help us fulfill our mission for the welfare of our students.

Letter from The American School Principal

Dearest Parents,

The American School Team works around the clock on a daily basis to drive the purpose, instill the vision and imbue the core values of ISEE. For us here at ISEE, the focal points are always the students, their education, their well-being and their transformation.

A myriad of research confirms a strong correlation between parental involvement and student achievement. This is precisely why the ISEE family firmly believes in the pivotal role the parents have to play to achieve that.

To drive our purpose on these focal points of ISEE, the school calls for the continuous assistance from all its stakeholders. This is to enforce the belief that it takes a whole village to educate a child.

This guiding handbook outlines and collates our school-wide expectations, policies and procedures, and all stakeholders are requested to honor its content. In our attempt to support our students’ well-being, academic excellence and growth, a number of intra and extra-curricular activities will be incorporated in the school’s calendar starting this year. This initiative will foster positive relations between students and staff members, promote inclusion and cultivate the students’ mental and spiritual growth.

It's my pleasure and pride to be in the ISEE team and I look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders.

Introduction

Transparency and clarity are at the core of ISEE educational engine; therefore, ISEE believes that well-informed parents and students promote a positive school environment. This handbook serves as the parameter within which ISEE community strives to achieve its goals.

Vision

We, the community of The International School of Elite Education, aim at providing quality education where students get the chance to thrive as competent and proactive global citizens with strong ethical and cultural beliefs and a profound sense of identity.

Mission

Our mission at The International School of Elite Education is to empower each student with quality education by providing an enabling, challenging, and inclusive environment where diversity is embraced and appreciated. We inspire our students to identify and develop their educational and personal potentials and guide them through the process of achieving their future aspirations in a global world.

Core Values

ISEE Educational Environment

To fulfill our vision, ISEE carefully designs its ethos and environment, reinforcing how the school views itself and its student body. The ethos of a school is a network of interconnecting elements, including school policies and procedures, cultural values, and social and physical environments. We believe that the school experience goes beyond its walls because it creates a climate which impacts students’ learning. We believe that discipline is one of the cornerstones of a well-designed educational system. To ensure good discipline, a close, cooperative relationship must exist between home and school. ISEE policies and procedures provide close communication with parents to ensure the quality of the routine and systemic educational process. Firm but Fair is the basis for our communication code. The school provides guidelines to foster mutual respect and cooperation within the school setting. ISEE seriously takes its responsibility to educate students in a safe environment where students are free from fear of harm, bullying, intimidation, foul language, aggression, or any act against our values or culture. All students at ISEE have the right to feel physically and emotionally safe.

The Goethe Institute commits to the professional supervision of the projects for three years during which training is provided to the teachers in Germany. Classrooms and teachers’ references are provided according to the needs defined in cooperation with the school. Internationally recognized exams (FIT) are implemented. Additional learning material is provided for students as well as an interactive website for both teachers and students, where they can exchange ideas with partners from other schools and/or countries and have access to specific information and online language courses.

Academics

Standardized Tests

PSAT

This is a standardized aptitude test measuring college readiness. PSATs are administered to grade 9 and 10 students every year. The results are analyzed vertically and horizontally to inform instruction.

MAP Tests

MAP assessments are computer-adaptive achievement tests in Mathematics, Language and Reading. MAP tests are based on a continuum of skills in Mathematics, Language and Reading from low skill levels to high skill levels. MAP assessments are done twice a year for grades 2-10; once in Winter and another in Spring. These assessments help teachers identify the instructional needs of the students and provide context for determining where each student is performing in relation to local or state standards and national norms. MAP tests MUST be taken seriously, and the results will be reflected in the gradebook.

Second Language External Standard Examination

ISEE prepares the students to sit for proficiency certification exams for nonnative speakers in the following languages:

a. French: DELF (Diplôme d'etudes en langue Française)

b. German: Fit (Goethe-Zertifikat)

c. Spanish: DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera)

All certifications are awarded by the Ministry of Education of France, Germany, and Spain, respectively.

IXL Diagnostic Tests

IXL is personalized learning in grades 2 to 12 in English. IXL Math applies to grades 2 - 10 and only for some students in grade 11. It is used by millions of students worldwide. IXL is proven to accelerate students’ achievement with its comprehensive curriculum, actionable analytics, Real-Time Diagnostic, and personalized guidance.

Failing any of the core subjects will result in a makeup exam in Summer. However, failing more than two subjects will lead to the repetition of the same academic year.

Homework

Homework teaches children to be independent, to take initiative and responsibility for completing a task, and it helps children to develop a sense of self-discipline. Doing schoolwork at home helps the children to practice working alone without asking for help from their classmates and teachers. Homework gives an opportunity for parents to monitor their children’s academic progress. Throughout the years, research studies have consistently shown that parental involvement in a child’s learning is a key factor in determining a child’s achievement in school. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that ISEE students understand and commit to the importance of homework assignments and their due dates for submission.

Homework Policy

• Some HW assignments will be assessed for the accuracy of the content while others will be granted a full mark if submitted by the announced deadline

• Students who submit their work neat, complete, on time, and according to the given rubric receive full credit for the assignment.

• Students who submit their work one day later than the due date lose 25% of the credit for the assignment.

• Students who submit their work two days later than the due date receive NO credit for the assignment.

• The subject teachers usually use the general assignment rubrics. Otherwise, they may choose to use a different specific rubric depending on the nature of the subject and the stage level.

Student Leadership Programs

Student Council

Its purpose is to help students develop leadership qualities to thrive as proactive global citizens and apply democratic decision-making strategies, provide service to the school student body, and foster cooperation among students and between staff and students.

It also assists students in participating in active services and in developing a sense of belonging to their school, to their community, and to their country.

Elections

Each class elects:

• A President.

• A Vice President.

The student’s choice should not depend on personal feelings (friends); students should be elected according to good conduct and leadership qualities. The elected president and vice president are chosen to really help and act as mediators between the student body and the administration. Both the president and the vice president are expected to be exemplary students.

Trips/ Field Trips

Our school offers a wide range of excursions for all age groups (overnight and day trips). The excursion programs are designed across curricula. The variety inspires ISEE students and empowers them to take their classroom knowledge and their school culture beyond the regular setting of a school day. It helps them understand their culture and communities and helps them understand different ones as well.

Field Trips

The purpose of field trips is to enhance classroom instruction by providing a meaningful, well-organized out-of-class experience for students. Field trips acquire hands-on knowledge of the subject matter that is being studied and offer new challenges.

ISEE students will have the opportunity to go on field trips at various times throughout the academic year. Any student who has demonstrated the inability to follow rules may be prohibited from participating. This decision will be made by the administration.

For all field trips, parents and guardians are requested to fill out an online trip form. Students will be expected to follow these rules:

• A “Field Trip Permission Slip” is sometimes requested. No phone calls will be accepted as permission.

• The student must follow the Uniform Code unless otherwise instructed.

• The student must abide by the ISEE Code of Student Conduct while on the field trip.
