Our story:

1965

EF is founded in Sweden by Bertil Hult. He brought a group of Swedish students to Brighton, England. The idea was simple – they would learn English while traveling on holiday.

1978

EF becomes truly global, establishing itself not only in Europe and North America, but also in Mexico and Japan.

1988

EF is the official Language School of the Seoul Summer Olympics, EF's first of many Olympic appointments.

2003

Hult International Business School is founded by EF and today is proudly recognized as the first triple-accredited business school in the U.S.

2005

Our unique blended learning method is launched, going on to win various prestigious academic awards over the years.

2008

EF is the official supplier of language training services for the Beijing Summer Olympics.

2009

EF Volunteer Description

This program combines volunteer experience of 50 hours or more with a minimum 8-week EF Language Course. In addition to making progress toward fluency in your language course with interactive lessons inside and outside of the classroom, you’ll enrich your understanding of the language by volunteering part-time at a local organization.

EF Internship Description

This program combines an internship of 50 hours or more with a minimum 4-week EF Intensive Course. During classroom time you’ll improve your language skills as well as learn resume writing and interviewing techniques. After class, you’ll perfect your new language ability by working in a part-time, unpaid position at a professional company.

EF College Credit

Study abroad and earn academic credit from the University of Montana.

Study abroad with EF and earn credits that can be transfered to your current or future college or university at home. Gain superior language skills, the cornerstone of an international education. Achieve intercultural competence which will provide you with the tools to succeed in our increasingly interconnected world.

How to earn academic credit while abroad: Earn transferable college credit issued by our partner University of Montana for courses 2 weeks or longer. Our EF University Foundation Program prepares you thoroughly for the challenges of higher education. This 6-, 9- or 11-month program bridges the gap between your previous education and what is expected at your chosen international university. A six-month fasttrack option is available in destinations worldwide for eligible students.

Perfect your language skills

You’ll also benefit from free language testing to help determine your language proficiency. For students whose language abilities are not yet strong enough, we offer an additional study program, the EF Language Preparation Program. This will help you establish a strong foundation of fluency and meet the enrolment requirements of the EF University Foundation Program.

Specialized coursework

You’ll learn essential study skills such as essay writing, critical thinking and group work as well as prepare for and take the necessary proficiency exams required for admission including IELTS and TOEFL.

It will also provide you with an overview of local customs and educational systems. You can also specialize your studies with academic coursework in subjects from International Communications to Art, Science, Engineering and more.

The EF Pre-Master’s and PreMBA Programs are ideal for students who lack the language skills to enter a postgraduate degree at an international university. These programs will provide you with all the linguistic, academic study and specific skills necessary for postgraduate studies.

Personalized program

The EF Pre-Master’s and PreMBA Programs are flexible in length so that you can study for either 6, 9 or 11 months. You’ll be able to take specialized module classes in an academic area of your choice, such as International Business, Marketing, Law and Social Sciences, to help prepare you for your postgraduate degree. Each specialized class is designed to engage you with a topic that interests you, as well as helping you to build the necessary language, research and study skills you will need to succeed in a demanding academic environment. We will also help prepare you for the necessary tests required for admission, such as IELTS, TOEFL, GMAT and GRE.

Specialist staff support to help you succeed

As part of your program, a University Pathway Advisor will be assigned to provide support in researching, selecting and applying for postgraduate programs. Throughout the duration of your EF program, this specialist staff member will be available to offer continuing support and counseling.
