Games and activities to support children’s development

• THE MINI BLOCKS are workbooks designed for boys and girls AGED 3 TO 6 YEARS.

• They offer activities and EDUCATIONAL GAMES designed by educational professionals that aim to accompany and support the development of boys and girls.

• Thanks to its practical FORMAT, the block is the ideal companion both at home and when travelling.

• All activities present simple and immediate instructions, and are accompanied with playful and entertaining IMAGES.

This volume is aimed at girls and boys ages 4 and up.

The 48 activities are organized into 4 sections of increasing complexity and are designed to facilitate the development of 4 fundamental skills (visual-spatial skills, sorting and classification skills, logical-deductive skills, and spatial orientation), each identified by an icon. The essential layout of the page and the simple, straightforward assignments make explicit to boys and girls (with the mediation of the reading adult) how to perform them, which each time involves linking, circling, cutting out and pasting.

In this adventure, Mrs. Tiger and her friends will have to solve puzzles and logic games. The girls and boys will help them by performing the activities. At the beginning of each section they will have to connect the dots in the picture to discover the leading character.

At the end of the sections they will find 4 puzzles that, when combined, will create a large scenario to play with.

The activities

VISUO-SPATIAL SKILLS

Training visual skills from the early preschool years is an excellent tool for the development of future collateral skills. In this volume we will find activities of completing with missing parts, filling in logical blocks according to a geometric pattern, and identifying incorrect components in a visual pattern to reassemble.

SORTING AND CLASSIFYING

The ability to classify and sort as early as childhood is a good prerequisite for future logical-mathematical skills. The proposed exercises involve classifying elements according to logical features, size or color. We also find early ensemble activities, which require choosing elements to bring together or identifying intruding elements.

LOGICAL-DEDUCTIVE SKILLS

Logic-deductive skills are directly related to future, very important, problem solving skills. Through the exercises in this volume, girls and boys will go on to perform activities such as completing logical sequences, inserting items within deductive matrices or rearranging items broken down according to a logical sequence.

SPACE ORIENTATION

Through early spatial orientation activities, early topological concepts are introduced, which are fundamental to future skills in visual-spatial skills. With the activities in this mini-block, challenges involving the concepts of inside/outside, above/below, near/far will be addressed. Boys and girls will be asked to identify or place elements according to these criteria.

MAKE UP THE PUZZLE

At the end of each section is a puzzle to cut out. Placing all 4 puzzles side by side makes one scenario to play with.
