El sistema de puntuación
Al igual que en la mayoría de las regatas de crucero, la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE utiliza un sistema de puntuación a la baja, de manera que quien cruza primero la línea de llegada obtendrá un punto; el segundo se llevará dos puntos; el tercero, tres puntos,… y así sucesivamente.

Desde la edición de 2019, con el fin de aumentar la expectación de cara a las últimas pruebas, la regata se divide en dos fases: una Serie Previa y una Serie Final.
La novedad de este sistema radica en que la posición obtenida al final de la Serie Previa -a disputarse en cinco pruebas no descartables (ocho para J70 y J80) hasta el miércoles, 3 de agosto- indicará el número de puntos con que cada barco comience la Serie Final: es decir, que el primer clasificado tendrá un punto, el segundo dos puntos, el tercero tres puntos, el cuarto cuatro puntos, etc.
De esta forma se busca que la disputa final del podio se decida en los dos últimos días de regatas con una gran igualdad de los primeros clasificados.
El barco que haya acumulado en su casillero la puntuación más baja el último día de regatas, se convertirá en campeón de la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE de su clase. The scoring system
As in most cruising regattas, the 40th Copa del Rey MAPFRE uses a low-scoring system, so that whoever crosses the finish line first will get one point; the second will get two points; the third, three points... and soon.
Since the 2019 edition, to increase the excitement for the last races, the regatta is divided into two phases: a Preliminary Series and a Final Series.
The novelty of this system lies in the fact that the position obtained at the end of the Preliminary Series –to be disputed in five races (eight for J70 and J80) until Wednesday, August 3– will indicate the number of points with which each boat will start the Final Series: that is, the first classified will have one point, the second two points, the third three points, the fourth four points, etc.
This intends the final dispute for the podium to be decided in the last two days of racing with evenly matched first classified boats.
The boat that has accumulated the lowest score on the last day of racing will become the champion of the 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE in its class.
