El sistema de puntuación de la regata consiste en una Serie Previa de seis pruebas entre los días 1 y 3 de agosto de 2022 (2 y 3 de agosto de 2022 para J70 y Women’s Cup) y una Serie Final de cinco pruebas (ocho para J70 y WCC). A criterio del Comité Organizador, se podrán usar otros formatos de competición. Si hasta el 3 de agosto se han completado un mínimo de cuatro pruebas, se celebrará la Serie Final; en caso contrario, se seguirá en Serie Previa hasta el final.

The scoring system for the regatta consists of a Preliminary Series of six races between 1 and 3 August 2022 (2 and 3 August 2022 for J70 and Women’s Cup) and a Final Series of five races (eight for J70 and WCC). At the discretion of the Organizing Committee, other competition formats may be used. If a minimum of four races have been completed by August 3, the Final Series will be held; otherwise, the Preliminary Series will continue to the end.

EN TIERRA

El intenso programa deportivo se completa en tierra con una agenda social que supone una referencia imprescindible del verano de Palma desde hace 40 años. Personalidades e invitados se entremezclan con los cerca de mil regatistas de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE para disfrutar de un atractivo cóctel de gastronomía, música, fiestas y entretenimiento.

En el calendario de actos sociales programados para la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE destacan especialmente el Cóctel bienvenida Hotel Castillo Son Vida, el lunes 1 de agosto a las 21.00 la Cena de Armadores by MAPFRE, el jueves 4 de agosto en las terrazas del Real Club Náutico de Palma a las 21:00, y la ceremonia de entrega de trofeos presidida por S.M. el Rey Don Felipe, el sábado 6 de agosto en el recinto de Ses Voltes a las 21:00 h, a los pies de la catedral de Mallorca.

La 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE está organizada por el Real Club Náutico de Palma y la Real Federación Española de Vela, con el patrocinio de MAPFRE y la colaboración institucional del Govern de les Illes Balears, el Ayuntamiento de Palma, la Autoritat Portuaria de Balears y la Federación Balear de Vela.

The intense sporting program is completed on shore with a social agenda that has been an essential reference of Palma’s summer for 40 years. Personalities and guests mingle with the nearly one thousand sailors of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE to enjoy an attractive cocktail of gastronomy, music, parties, and entertainment.

The calendar of social events scheduled for the 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE includes the Welcome Cocktail Hotel Castillo Son Vida on Monday 1 August at 21h, the Owners Dinner by Mapfre on Thursday August 4th at the terraces of the Real Club Náutico de Palma at 21h, and the Trophy Award Ceremony presided by H.M. King Felipe, on Saturday August 6th at 21h at Ses Voltes, at the foot of the Cathedral of Mallorca.

The 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma and the Real Federación Española de Vela, with the sponsorship of MAPFRE and the institutional collaboration of the Govern de les Illes Balears, the Ayuntamiento de Palma, the Autoritat Portuaria de Balears and the Federación Balear de Vela.

PARTICIPATING CLASSES

La flota de la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE está dividida en nueve categorías: Cinco compiten en tiempo real y cuatro en tiempo compensado.

TIEMPO COMPENSADO

Modalidad que permite competir juntos a barcos de diferentes características, garantizando la máxima igualdad mediante la aplicación de fórmulas de compensación de tiempos. En la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE navegan en compensado las clases BMW ORC 1, BMW ORC 2, BMW ORC 3 y BMW ORC 4.

TIEMPO REAL

Modalidad que reúne a barcos de iguales características, y en la que gana el primero en cruzar la línea de llegada. En la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE compiten cinco clases en tiempo real: ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 42, ClubSwan 36, Herbalife J70 y Mallorca Sotheby´s Women’s Cup (a bordo de monotipos J80).

The 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE fleet is divided into nine categories: five compete in real-time and four in corrected time.

CORRECTED TIME

The modality allows boats of different characteristics to compete together, guaranteeing full equality through the application of time corrected formulas. In the 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the BMW ORC 1, BMW ORC 2, BMW ORC 3 and BMW ORC 4 classes sail in corrected time.

REAL-TIME

This modality brings together boats of equal characteristics and the first one to cross the finish line wins. Five classes compete in the 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE in real-time: ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 42, ClubSwan 36, Herbalife J70, and Mallorca Sotheby's Women's Cup (aboard J80 monotypes).

BMW ORC

La fórmula ORC es un sistema de compensación basado en la predicción de velocidad de los barcos. Es una evolución del IMS. La flota con certificado ORC vuelve a ser la más numerosa y heterogénea en la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, con más de 60 barcos y esloras comprendidas entre diez y más de 18 metros. Se dividirá en BMW ORC 1, BMW ORC 2, BMW ORC 3 y, por primera vez en la historia del evento, BMW ORC 4.

BMW ORC

The ORC formula is a compensation system based on boat speed prediction. It is an evolution of the IMS. The ORC-certified fleet will once again be the largest and most heterogeneous in the 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, with more than 60 boats and lengths ranging from 10 to more than 18 meters. It will be divided into BMW ORC 1, BMW ORC 2, BMW ORC 3, and, for the first time in the history of the event, BMW ORC 4.

BMW ORC 1

Incluye a una veintena de barcos de nueve nacionalidades con esloras comprendidas entre los 42 pies (12,8 metros) y los 60 pies (18,3 metros), el tope superior de la flota de la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE. Entre el listado de inscritos destacan el DK46 Immens-Hydra (barco ganador de las tres últimas ediciones con diferentes equipos), el Estrella Damm (de Nacho Montes y Luis Martínez Doreste, equipo vencedor en 2018 y 2019), y el TP52 Aifos500 de la Armada Española, patroneado por S.M. El Rey Felipe VI.

BMW ORC 1

Includes some twenty boats of nine nationalities with lengths between 42 feet (12.8 meters) and 60 feet (18.3 meters), the top limit of the fleet of the 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE. The list of entries includes the DK46 Immens-Hydra (winning boat of the last three editions with different teams), the Estrella Damm (of Nacho Montes and Luis Martínez Doreste, winning team in 2018 and 2019), and the TP52 Aifos500 of the Spanish Navy, skippered by H.M. King Felipe VI.

BMW ORC 2

Atrae a equipos de nueve nacionalidades, incluyendo al defensor del título, el Swan 42 Teatro Soho Caixabank armado por Javier Banderas y patroneado por Daniel Cuevas. Tampoco faltará el segundo clasificado de la última edición, el GS43 M8 de los hermanos Francés.

BMW ORC 2

Attracts teams of nine nationalities, including the defending champion, the Swan 42 Teatro Soho Caixabank armed by Javier Banderas and skippered by Daniel Cuevas. Also attending will be the runner-up of the last edition, the Francés brothers’ GS43 M8.

BMW ORC 3

Es tradicionalmente la clase más multitudinaria de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE, y en esta edición tan especial agrupa a 20 equipos de nueve nacionalidades. Se trata una flota muy competitiva formada por barcos con rango de esloras de 3240 pies (alrededor de 10-12 metros).

BMW ORC 3

Is traditionally the most crowded class of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, and this special edition brings together 20 teams of nine nationalities. It is a very competitive fleet made up of boats with a length range of 32-40 feet (around 10-12 meters).

Las cuatro clases BMW ORC disputarán un máximo de 11 pruebas con un programa de competición entre el lunes, 1 de agosto, y el sábado día 6. El formato de competición consta de una Serie Previa de hasta seis mangas a disputar entre el 1 y el 3 de agosto, y una Serie Final de hasta cinco pruebas los días 4 a 6 de agosto.

The four BMW ORC classes will compete in a maximum of 11 races with a competition program between Monday, August 1st, and Saturday, August 6th. CLUBSWAN 50

El ClubSwan 50 es el primer diseño del argentino Juan Kouyoumdjian para el astillero Nautor’s Swan, un agresivo monocasco de 50 pies de eslora (15,24 metros) que fue presentado oficialmente durante la 35 Copa del Rey MAPFRE y compite con clase propia desde 2017. En su quinta participación cuenta con 15 equipos de nueve nacionalidades. Ante la ausencia del Earlybird del alemán Hendrik Brandis, ganador en 2017, 2018 y 2021, la batalla por el título está más abierta que nunca entre los 15 equipos de nueve nacionalidades que se han inscrito para la quinta participación de la clase en la Copa del Rey MAPFRE. No faltarán el ganador 2019 (el italiano Cuordileone de Leonardo Ferragamo) ni el actual campeón del mundo de ClubSwan 50 (el alemán Hatari de Markus Brenneke), y debuta en la clase el campeón de las dos últimas ediciones de ClubSwan 42 (el rumano Natalia de Natalia Brailoiu).

Los ClubSwan 50 disputarán un máximo de 11 pruebas puntuables.

The ClubSwan 50 is the first design by Argentine Juan Kouyoumdjian for Nautor's Swan shipyard, an aggressive 50-foot monohull (15.24 meters) that was officially presented during the 35th Copa del Rey MAPFRE and has been competing in a class of its own since 2017. In its fifth participation it has 15 teams of nine nationalities. In the absence of German Hendrik Brandis' Earlybird, winner in 2017, 2018, and 2021, the battle for the title is more open than ever among the 15 teams of nine nationalities that have signed up for the class fifth participation in the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. The 2019 winner (Leonardo Ferragamo's Italian Cuordileone) and the reigning ClubSwan 50 world champion (Markus Brenneke's German Hatari) will not be missing, and the champion of the last two editions of ClubSwan 42 (Natalia Brailoiu's Romanian Natalia) makes its debut in the class.

The ClubSwan 50s will compete in a maximum of 11 scoring races.

El ClubSwan 42 es un barco monotipo de 42,6 pies de eslora (13 metros) diseñado por Germán Frers para el astillero Nautor’s Swan por encargo del New York Yacht Club. Su vocación es la competición de tripulaciones eminentemente no profesionales, tanto en regatas costeras como de altura. La flota de la 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE cuenta con una decena de equipos de seis nacionalidades, incluyendo al español Pez de Abril de José María Meseguer (campeón 2017 y 2018) y al estadounidense Raving Swan de Jerome Stubler (actual campeón del mundo de la clase).

Los ClubSwan 42 disputarán un máximo de 11 mangas puntuables.

CLUBSWAN 42

The ClubSwan 42 is a 42.6-foot (13-meter) one-design yacht designed by German Frers for Nautor’s Swan shipyard on behalf of the New York Yacht Club. Its vocation is the competition of eminently non-professional crews, both in coastal and offshore regattas. The 40 Copa del Rey MAPFRE fleet features a dozen teams of six nationalities, including José María Meseguer’s Spanish Pez de Abril (2017 and 2018 champion) and Jerome Stubler’s American Raving Swan (current world champion in the class).

The ClubSwan 42s will race a maximum of 11 scoring races.

Debutó como clase en la 39 Copa del Rey MAPFRE y regresa este año con ocho equipos de cinco nacionalidades, incluyendo al defensor del título y actual campeón del mundo de ClubSwan 36, el italiano G Spot de Giangiacomo Serena. También repite participación el subcampeón 2021, el Farstar de Lorenzo Mondo, mientras que el tercer clasificado ha cambiado de nombre y participa en esta edición como Cuordileone.

CLUBSWAN 36

The ClubSwan 36 is the latest design by Argentine Juan Kouyoumdjian for Nautor’s Swan shipyard. It debuted as a class in the 39th Copa del Rey MAPFRE and returns this year with eight teams of five nationalities, including the defending champion and reigning ClubSwan 36 world champion, Italy’s G Spot by Giangiacomo Serena. Also repeating participation is the 2021 runner-up, Lorenzo Mondo’s Farstar, while the thirdplaced team has changed its name and is participating in this edition as Cuordileone.

The ClubSwan 36 will compete in a maximum of 11 scoring races.

HERBALIFE J70

Con siete metros de eslora, el J70 es probablemente el monotipo más numeroso del mundo y regresa a la Copa del Rey MAPFRE después de su debut en 2021. Rápido, ágil y estable, el monotipo ha ganado adeptos rápidamente desde su llegada a España en 2015. No en vano, algunos de los regatistas más destacados de nuestro país compiten habitualmente en los circuitos nacionales. Defiende título el Let it Be de Marcelo Baltzer y Juan Calvo.

Los Herbalife J70 disputarán un máximo de 14 pruebas puntuables.

At seven meters in length, the J70 is probably the most numerous monotype in the world and returns to the Copa del Rey MAPFRE after its debut in 2021. Fast, agile, and stable, the monotype has quickly gained followers since its arrival in Spain in 2015. Not in vain, some of the most outstanding seamen in our country regularly compete in the national circuits. Defending the title is Marcelo Baltzer and Juan Calvo's Let it Be.

The Herbalife J70s will compete in a maximum of 14 qualifying races.
