FLAG DAY SERVICE
We Encourage Community Involvement!
JUNE 14th, 2025 at 6:00 PM
At this time Flags of our Country will be inspected and condemned as unserviceable. They have reached their present state in a proper service of tribute, memory and love.
A flag may be a flimsy bit of printed gauze, or a beautiful banner of finest silk. Its intrinsic value may be trifling or great; but it’s real value is beyond price, for it is a precious symbol of all that we and our comrades have worked for and lived for, and died for-a free nation of free men and women, true to the faith of the past, devoted to the ideas and practice of Justice, Freedom and Democracy.
Let these faded Flags of our Country be retired and destroyed with respect and honorable rites and their place be taken by bright new Flags of the same size and kind, and let no grave of our soldier, sailor, or airman dead be unhonored and unmarked.
Unserviceable Flags can be placed in the retirement box at the Legion.

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE
Most holy Apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases, of things despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use I implore you of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help, where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and help of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings and that I may prasie God with you and all the elect forever. I promise. O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen. P.S.

75 YEARS OF SERVICE…
“Stillness is vital to the world of the soul. If as you age you become more still, you will discover that stillness can be a great companion... Many people miss out on themselves completely as they journey through life. They know others, they know places, they know skills, they know their work, but tragically, they do not know themselves at all. Aging can be a lovely time of ripening when you actually meet yourself, indeed maybe for the first time.”
~John O’Donohue
Sit down, take a deep breath and just spend some time with your thoughts. We rush through life at a pace that often seems insane; a phone is constantly at the ready to take a call, provide entertainment, or be a source of information. There is no “down” time while we wait for a response to a mailed letter; we get upset if a call is not answered immediately. There is so little stillness in the world today.
Old or young-- that quietness can be a balm for our souls. Enjoy getting to know yourself. Enjoy stillness.
