In recent years Memorial Day has become the unofficial kick-off of the summer season. It has become a day of picnics and parties. But Memorial Day should be a reverent day, a day of gratitude and prayer in memory of all those who have died to preserve freedom and honor for our country. Those who have died in this nation’s wars did so in the hope that their sacrifice would bring enduring peace.
The members of our armed forces deserve our unquestioned support for their dedication… for their willingness to put their personal lives on hold while serving our nation… for their professional skills and for their belief in what they are doing.
This Memorial Day we remember them and re-dedicate ourselves to peaceful purposes in our world-wide relationships. With God’s help and guidance it can be done. Strength, wisdom and courage can be ours to meet every challenge and reach solutions for the betterment of our country and mankind everywhere. We need only ask.
