Kearns Brings One-Stop Passport Service To Southtowns
Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns announced that his office will be conducting a “Passports on the Move” outreach on Tuesday, September 19th from 5pm to 7pm at the AAA Travel and Insurance Center located at 3475 Amelia Drive in Orchard Park.
This community event is for first-time passport applicants only. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting the Erie County Clerk’s Outreach Center at (716) 8588864.
“I am pleased to bring this popular service to residents of Orchard Park and the surrounding areas, along with our community partners at AAA of Western and Central New York,” said County Clerk Kearns. “Our main objective is to make County government more customercentered, including offering easily accessible locations for travelers to apply for their passport.”
Applicants will be able to apply for a passport card, passport book or both. Payment must be in the form of check or money order. No cash or credit cards will be accepted. “I encourage anyone planning an upcoming winter vacation or college students preparing for a semester abroad to schedule an appointment for our ‘Passports on the Move’ event as the current wait time for to receive a passport can be as along as 13 weeks,” Kearns stated.
A certified copy of birth certificate and proof of identity such as a current New York State driver’s license or non-driver identification card is required in order for any application to be accepted. Passport photos can be taken on-site and are available for $8.95 for AAA members and $12.95 for non-members.
Current passport holders with less than 6 months validity remaining are encouraged to follow the instructions on how to renew their passport by mail at travel.state.gov/ passports. Passport applications, a list of all required documents and a schedule of fees are available by visiting erie.gov/passports or by contacting the Erie County Clerk’s Office Outreach Center at (716) 858-8864.

The Eden Community Foundation Fall Grant Application Deadline Approaches
Since its establishment in 1999, the Eden Community Foundation has awarded more than $250,000 to help fund 120 local projects by Eden organizations. With the aspirational goal of “private giving for the public good,” The Foundation supports projects that strengthen and improve the quality of life of Eden residents. The Foundation gives preference to projects that improve the hamlet of Eden Center, develop spaces for community activities, or provide new programs or activities for Eden residents.
Most recent grant recipients include the Eden Farmers Market, the Eden United Methodist Church, the Eden Historic Preservation Alliance and the Eden All Sports Booster Club. The Foundation awarded the Eden Farmers Market $1000 towards advertising and promotional items to enhance visitor and vendor participation for its 2023 market days. Twenty five hundred dollars was awarded to the Eden Historic Preservation Alliance for the creation of a trifold map of Eden’s historical sites in addition to helping fund the Alliance’s Historical Treasure Hunt that took place in May 2023. The Eden United Methodist Church received $1779 from the Foundation for the purchase of an automated external defibrillator to be placed in the church’s community spaces used by various Eden groups. The Eden All Sports Booster Club was awarded $3925 towards supplies for the school’s Robotics Team.
The Eden Community Foundation is currently accepting grant applications for its October 1st deadline.
Any entity whose programs or activities directly benefit the Eden community are invited to apply. Entities physically located outside the Town of Eden may apply for a grant if the contribution is specifically earmarked for programs or activities in Eden.

Richie’s passions were family, friends, baseball, hunting, fishing, gardening, music, dancing and socializing.
