Preparedness Training

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C, Elma) is sponsoring an American Red Cross disaster preparedness training session and hands-only CPR class on Wednesday, September 25 at Union Pleasant Elementary School, 150 Pleasant Ave. in Hamburg. The presentation, which will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., coincides with National Preparedness Month.

“We all know that bad weather, fires and other emergencies can strike at any time, and we need to be ready to protect our families and our community,” Senator Gallivan said. “The Red Cross can help us prepare for and respond to the types of disasters most likely to occur in Western New York. I encourage interested residents to sign-up for these free sessions.”

The “Be Red Cross Ready” preparedness program will begin at 5 p.m. Participants can also sign-up for a “Hands-Only CPR” class.

"Disasters can happen any time, often without warning, changing lives forever in just minutes," said Nick Bond, Regional CEO, American Red Cross of WNY. "In those times, the American Red Cross of Western New York is there to help families prepare for, respond to and recover from life's emergencies. Whether it's preparing your homes and loved ones for a home fire, weather-related emergency, or taking a lifesaving course like Hands-Only CPR, we are grateful to partners like Senator Gallivan who support our mission-driven work. This National Preparedness Month and year-round, we encourage families to join our mission by becoming Red Cross Ready and training for the moments that matter."

ank You

We want to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible support and kindness we have been shown in the wake of the July 10th tornado that struck our property at 9106 Sission Highway. is disaster has been an overwhelming experience for us, but the way our community has rallied around us has been nothing short of extraordinary.

From the moment the tornado struck, we were met with an outpouring of help that we will never forget from family, friends, friends of friends, businesses, churches, neighbors, co-workers, the town, and people we don't even know.

e truly amazing thing is we did not call or ask anyone. ey just showed up, donated, dropped o essentials, dropped o and donated equipment to use without hesitation. Whether it was through donating essentials, o ering a comforting word or simply being there for us, each act of kindness made a world of di erence. Your generosity has not only helped us rebuild our lives but has also given us hope and strength to move forward.

ere is a lot of good le in the world and the July 10th tornado shook it loose. We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a compassionate and caring community. e support we have received has shown us that even in the face of adversity, we are never alone. It is in moments like these that the true spirit of community shines brightest and we are so grateful to have experienced it rsthand.

Please know that your kindness will never be forgotten. ank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for standing with us during this time.

anks to all, Jim, Colleen, Jess, Corey, Jenn, Zach, Olivia and Lyndy “ e Blasz Family”

A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER…

“Accustomed as we are to change, or unaccustomed, we think of a change of heart, of clothes, of life, with some uncertainty.” --Josephine Miles

There’s comfort in being used to a situation — even if it’s painful or bad for us. People stay in jobs that are wrong for them or even in relationships that no longer work just because they are used to those situations. They are afraid to make a change for fear it will be worse or just because they don’t know what to expect.

However, once you make a change, you might be amazed at how easy it was and find yourself wondering what took you so long. You find that the change is something that you can handle, and that you’re ready for the new opportunities that it brings.

There’s a saying that God doesn’t close one door without opening another for us. Having trust in ourselves and our faith can lead us to new experiences in life.
