Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) says the New York State Police are accepting applications for the Trooper Entrance Examination, with testing to begin on August 15, 2024.
Gallivan, a former Trooper and Sheriff of Erie County, says the state is investing $66 million to fund additional State Police academy classes, in an effort to find the most qualified and diverse pool of candidates to serve and protect state residents.
“The New York State Police is one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the country and serving as a Trooper is a challenging and rewarding career,” Senator Gallivan said. I encourage eligible individuals who are interested to sign up and take the entrance exam.”
Candidates must be a citizen of the United States and be at least 20 years old and a maximum of 34 years old at the time of application. The maximum age may also be extended one year for each year of full-time active military duty, up to a maximum of 7 years. Applicants must also have a high school diploma or equivalent.
The starting salary for Academy appointees is $59,612. After one year of service, the minimum compensation rises to $98,300 with full health benefits and a retirement plan.

A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER…
All of us witness things every day. We see varying circumstances, situations, and attitudes all around us — both good and bad.
As we witness these things in other people, wouldn’t it be a good idea for us to ponder what other people see or witness in us? Each of us, individually, sets a standard of behavior, thought and expression that is linked to us. In doing anything, we naturally provide a scene or knowledge for others to witness. The things we do and the things we say cause people to talk about us favorably or to gossip about us unfavorably.
We each create our own image — good or bad. We control the destiny of our image in the minds and thoughts of others. When we can be rightfully proud of what others witness in us, we gain an inner gladness that automatically portrays a better, more likeable image. It’s a
