I recently had the opportunity to look at Miss Saunders Photo Album from the 1930’s. She along with Miss Wilson, Miss Boardman, and Mrs Morgester were my lower grade teachers, in the old school house located where the Eden Town Hall is today. With the Alumni coming up July 26th, I thought I would show my class from 1938, boys and girls.I am standing in the back left corner with hair in my face next to Bob Miller. The girl with the braids in the middle front head turned is Doris Hickling.

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” --Author Unknown
When the tornado struck last week, we learned what kind of community we live in. Our highway workers and volunteer firemen may have been first on the scene, but soon many others turned up to help those whose lives were impacted in mere minutes. They may have known some of those affected, or they may have just come because they knew there was a need and they knew they could help.
As clean-up continues, many more are helping with donations of cash and services. Despite sometimes having differences, we are reminded every day that this is a Town that cares and is doing its best to help some of its own who find their lives suddenly uprooted. Please continue to help in whatever way you can.
