One of our members graciously allowed us to borrow and scan this photo postcard for our archives. The photo is captioned “Going through Farnham at 60mi per hour” and also has the comment “Walters photo”, which tells us it was most likely taken by Lynn Walters of Brant, N.Y. In the background we know that the street is Railroad Avenue and we can faintly see a white sign that seems to be advertising “Berns House” or “Berns Hotel”.

Barbara Stickney

Barbara Stickney (Nee: Congdon), age 80, of Eden, New York, formerly of North Collins, New York, passed away in Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 after a lengthy illness. She was born of September 19, 1942. She was a daughter of the late Ivan and Ruth Congdon. Barbara married her loving husband Robert W. Stickney of 56 years on June 24, 1967. She was a former member of the Eden Up to Date Club and had a love for animals both great and small. She was the devoted wife of Robert W. Stickney, the beloved mother of William (Kelly) Stickney and David (Abbey) Stickney. The loving grandmother of Thomas “TJ” Stickney and sister of Ellen (late George) Bartoo and the late Jane (Richard) Smurthwaite. Visitation will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 from 6-9PM at the Laing Funeral Home Inc. 2724 W. Church St. Eden followed by a funeral service on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 2PM at the funeral home. *Bus Driver applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age have a good driving record , already have or be willing to obtain a CDL class “B” license with a P & S endorsement, pass a background check, physical and drug screen. (Options available for CDL class “C”- call for more information). Free Paid Training to get your CDL provided to the right candidates. Eden Family Dental has invested in two new pieces of equipment that we are excited to utilize for our patients.

Our doctors and assistant have been trained to use a digital scanner to view our patient's teeth in 3D. This is a no-radiation scanner and, in many cases, can eliminate the need to take goopy impressions of the mouth. This makes our appointments quicker and less risk of gagging during impressions.

These scans transmit within seconds to our in-house dental mill, which employs CAD-CAM (computer aided design and manufacturing) to fabricate ceramic crowns within 40 minutes. This allows our patients to be fitted with their permanent dental crown at one visit, rather than returning in 1-2 weeks or wearing a temporary crown.

All enmity trickles down to the smallest unit. When nations fight against other nations, the true battles are fought by individuals and theirs are the losses. When big businesses wage economic battles against other businesses, it is the individual consumer who loses dollars and buying power. When members of a family feud against others in their family, everyone suffers from the lack of family support.

Those who start battles rarely think of the ultimate consequences. If elephants stopped to think that their battles killed the grasses that they need to survive, they might not stomp on those life-giving blades. If battling nations stopped to think of the toll all those individual losses adds up to, would they think twice before beginning a conflict? Probably not.... but why not dream of a perfect world where that could happen.
