Eden Community Foundation. The event involved registering at the Eden Chamber Pavilion on the Eden Legion grounds to get a map of the 16 participating historic sites and visiting at least 5 of the sites between 10am and 1pm. At each site participants were greeted by volunteers who provided information about the site and stamped the participants’ map. Participants who completed their map received an Eden Kazoo and Dairy Queen treat. With the encouragement of the Eden Central School District, it is estimated that about 135 school age children and parents participated. The participating sites were: Asa Warren House, Hills Corners, Evergreen Cemetery, St. Mary’s Church and Cemetery, Old Eden Post Offices, Tubbs Hollow, Croop’s Mill, Roeller’s Hotel, Welch Farm Museum, Randall Building, Clarksburg One-Room Schoolhouse, The Cutting Block, Eden Fire Hall, Eden Town Hall, East Eden Fire Hall, Eden Train Depot and Eden Kazoo Factory.

I remember pitching pennies in a bowl floating in a tub of water, and winning a prize if you pitched into the bowl. Jay W. Brumbaugh of Eden passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Beloved husband of Rosalie (née Enger) Brumbaugh; loving father of John, Martin (Shawn), Stephen (Dina), and Bonnie (Robert); Brother of the late John Brumbaugh; also survived by seven grandchildren. Jay was born August 28, 1944, in Buffalo, the son of Claude & Elsie Brumbaugh. He graduated from Hamburg High School then attended Cedarville University. Jay served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He returned home to begin a career at Bethlehem Steel. After 20 years, began his own business, All Seasons Yard Maintenance, serving Eden and surrounding Southtowns for 34 years. Jay also drove school bus driver for both Eden and North Collins. His final bus job was driving scenic tours for the Campaign for Greater Buffalo for nine years. Throughout his adult life, one of Jay’s great joys was serving with the Eden Emergency Squad which he did for 35 years. Jay trusted Jesus as his Savior at a young age. His strong, steady faith in Christ served as the foundation from which he loved and served his family. His family and friends also remember Jay as a man of prayer. He belonged to Gideons International which is an organization that distributes Bibles wherever possible. The family received friends and family on Thursday June 1st, 4-7 PM at Loomis, Offers & Loomis, Inc. Hamburg Chapel 207 Main Street. Funeral services held from Faith Bible Baptist Church 8688 S. Main Street Eden NY on Friday at 1:00 pm (Church visitation 12:00 - 1:00PM). Memorial contributions can be made to Gideons International C/O Rick Fichter, 82 Griffen Lane, Elma, NY 14059.
