Kearns Reminds Motorists of REAL ID Deadline
REAL ID-Compliant Identification Will be Required Beginning May 7, 2025 for All Domestic Flights Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns is reminding motorists of the May 7, 2025 deadline to obtain an enhanced or REAL ID, for which you will need to board a flight within the U.S., or enter certain federal buildings including military bases, unless you have a valid U.S. passport or another federally-accepted form of identification. Kearns said, “The REAL ID process must be completed, in person, at any Erie County Auto Bureau. Our Motor Vehicle Representatives will verify the authenticity and scan original or certified documents. We want the public to be ready. Do not delay the inevitable, review what original documents are required well before the May 7, 2025 deadline, which is exactly one year away. In our effort to make our customers visit quick and efficient, appointments are strongly encouraged.”
To apply for a REAL ID driver’s license or non-driver identification card, you must provide original or certified documentation that includes your date of birth and full name, such as a valid U.S. passport or passport card, a certified copy of a birth certificate with a raised/embossed seal, or an unexpired permanent resident card. No photo copies can be accepted.
VILLAGE OF NORTH COLLINS RESIDENTS
All residents are invited to attend our monthly Village Board meeting. The May meeting will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 6:30pm in the Village Hall located at 10543 Main Street, North Collins. Department Heads will attend.
You must also provide a document that displays your current legal name and full nine digits of the Social Security number. If your name has changed in any way and different from your proof of identity document, you must provide proof of a legal name change such as a certified marriage certificate, court order, or adoption decree issued by your county’s family court. Finally, you must provide two printed documents that show that you are a current resident of New York State, such as a current, unexpired NY license or ID, rental or lease agreement, a credit card or bank statement, or a home utility bill, each with name and address.
“We also want the public to select the document is right for them as they do have a choice between an Enhanced Driver License (EDL), a REAL ID version, or simply maintain a Standard ID or Driver ‘s License,” stated Kearns. “The EDL is the ‘super-sized’ REAL ID that also allows for cross boarder travel between Canada, Mexico and some Caribbean countries by land or sea.”
Only U.S. Citizens who are residents of New York can obtain an Enhanced New York State license. The additional fee for an enhanced driver licensed (EDL) or enhanced nondriver ID card (ENDID) is $30.00. The fee is added to the other fees for the driver license or non-driver ID transaction. There is no additional cost to get a REAL ID driver license or non-driver ID. All normal transaction fees still apply. Neither the REAL ID nor the Enhanced versions can be used to fly internationally. All overseas flights to foreign countries do require a valid U.S. Passport book.
Find out more about the REAL ID Act and review the list of acceptable documents required in order to meet the new compliance standard or book an on-line appointment by visiting www.erie.gov/clerk. Those without internet access needing to make a reservation or require reasonable accommodations may call the Clerk’s Outreach center at 716-8588864.

News from North Collins Fire Company
Donations from North Collins Fire, North Collins EMS, Langford Fire, North Collins fire company members, and Mustache March enabled us to purchase and deliver over $2,000 in smoke detectors to the North Collins Elementary School so that children without a working smoke detector in their home will be able to have one.
I Remember When
by R. Ferris Randall
Post Office on the move. Did you know that when Eden was first formed it took in the Town’s of Boston and Evans? Later in the early 1800’s when it was just Eden, there were Post Office’s in Eden Center (might of been in Zittel Brothers Harness Shop) Eden Valley, East Eden and Clarksburg (these were mostly in Stores). I remember when in my pre and early teen’s going into the Post Office (now Carl’s Barber shop),Evelyn Metz was the Clerk .Later in 1943, it moved around the corner on N. Main St., next to Miller’s Store. In 1956 Lawrence Miller remodeled Vellams grocery store into a Post Office which is directly across from Carl’s Barber Shop, and now a Dentist Office. Today 8230 N. Main St. Pictured above is the Post Office where Carl’s Barber Sop is today. Pictured is a Rural Carrier and his Horse and Wagon.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.”
- Proverbs 31:10-12
There is nothing wrong with women being domestically inclined. It is okay to want to marry a good guy and have children. That can lead to a life of joy and leave a living legacy you will rejoice in.

The Eden Conservation Board recently hosted a free presentation, “How to Respond to Injured Wildlife” given by the SPCA serving Erie County. Barb Haney, Wildlife Director at the SPCA serving Erie County, reminds us to leave wildlife alone. If you encounter a sick, injured, or orphaned animal, call the SPCA Wildlife Hotline for advice at 716- 875-7360 ext. 247. Also, a special reminder to NOT use pesticides on your lawn, glue traps or rodenticide. These products are very harmful to animals… especially birds.

The North Collins Veterans Tribute held it's third Annual Plant Sale at the site on Saturday, May 9. The plants, whether hanging baskets, vegetable plants, potted plants from a home garden, raspberry bushes or outdoor flowers were outstanding. The local florists, businesses and individuals donated as they have for the past years. And this year those who donated were even more generous than before! The Board of the Tribute worked very hard pulling this event together and the community showed up in force to support the effort to continually enhance the site and pay veterans from across the country the recognition and respect they deserve. It was an awesome day and the rain held off until we were finished selling every last plant!

In fields of battle, they have stood With courage and strong hearts so good. They faced the enemy without fear. Protecting freedoms we hold dear. Their sacrifices are often unseen. But their bravery forever gleams. Through wars and conflicts far and wide. They fought with honor by their side. We thank you Veterans for your service. For all you've done, for all you do. Your dedication will never fade. Your legacy in our hearts is made. On this day we salute you all. Standing proud and standing tall. You are our heroes, brave and kind. Forever grateful, in our minds.

Our doctors and assistant have been trained to use a digital scanner to view our patient's teeth in 3D. This is a no-radiation scanner and, in many cases, can eliminate the need to take goopy impressions of the mouth. This makes our appointments quicker and less risk of gagging during impressions. Eden Family Dental is continuously looking for ways to improve the dental experience for our patients and to accommodate everyone's busy schedule. We are currently accepting new patients, so please call 992-9511 to get scheduled for your comprehensive exam and cleaning! These scans transmit within seconds to our in-house dental mill, which employs CAD-CAM (computer aided design and manufacturing) to fabricate ceramic crowns within 40 minutes. This allows our patients to be fitted with their permanent dental crown at one visit, rather than returning in 1-2 weeks or wearing a temporary crown.

A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER…
Take the positive route. Instead of moaning and complaining about what you don’t have, be thankful for all you do possess. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself for things that seem to be bad luck, thank God for all the good days you’ve had. Instead of envying someone else’s good fortune, offer your congratulations.
How you respond to what happens to you, makes all the difference in the world. There is a lesson in every day and every event — and it doesn’t have to be negative. No matter how bad things seem, if you think hard enough you can find the good side.
Start to think of the cup as half full, instead of half empty. You’ll be amazed at how the world looks when you start to see it from a positive viewpoint. And you’ll start offering your thanks for even the
to you.
