March 20, 2024 found respite volunteers and guests enjoying Spring on the inside, as snow and blizzard conditions swirled in the streets of Eden. Gathering at the Eden Methodist Church, guests enjoyed lively Irish music by guitarist Jim Coupe, watercolor painting, bingo and a spring lunch of sweet pea and new potato soup and sandwiches. Shall the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District (the “District”) is hereby authorized to purchase the following replacement vehicles for use by the District in the transportation of students and general use by the District: one (1) 30-passenger battery electric school bus at an estimated cost of $149,553.32; two (2) 9-passenger gasoline mobility vehicles at an estimated cost of $77,500 each; and one (1) pick-up truck with snow plow and lift gate at an estimated cost of $75,000; for a total aggregate maximum cost of $379,553.32; with such aggregate cost to be raised by a tax upon the taxable property of the District to be levied and collected in annual installments as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefore, and, in anticipation of such tax, by the issuance of debt obligations of the District as may be necessary, not to exceed such maximum aggregate cost. No tax levy increase is anticipated for Proposition No. 2.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee ballots and applications for early mail ballot may be obtained Monday through Friday, except holidays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the District Clerk’s Office located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York. Candidates must enter through the main entrance of the High School. Warner C. Anderson, a beloved husband, father, and educator passed away on March 27th, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born on October 16th, 1940 in Detroit MI and most recently resided in Cheektowaga, NY. Warner will be remembered for his infectious love of life and his unwavering commitment to his family. Warner's dedication to education led him to become an assistant Superintendent where he made a profound impact on countless students’ lives throughout his career. His commitment to his profession earned him admiration and respect from colleagues and students alike. Warner was a loving husband to his wife with whom he raised three children: Lauren Lennon (Phil Lennon) Corbin Anderson and Hilary Anderson. Warner adored his role as a father and reveled in every milestone and accomplishment of his children and was deeply proud of his four grandchildren Cheyenne Fouts, Haley Fouts, Isabelle Anderson, and Simon Anderson. In addition to his immediate family Warner is survived by his sisters Judy Britt and Maris Avery; their bond was strong and they shared many memorable moments. Warner was predeceased by his wife Marion M Anderson, his sister Val Loucks, and his granddaughter Haley Fouts. A private service will be held in Warner's honor where family and friends will come together to celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him. On April 8th we will all have the opportunity to watch one of nature’s most interesting events-- a total solar eclipse. And we are hoping for clear skies! In ancient times, the blockingout of the sun was considered magic. It was not understood and people were often terrified by the event. Even today, there’s an element of the unknown to a total eclipse. Scientists will be watching animals and birds to see how they behave. And all of us will experience twilight during the afternoon. Don’t wait until the next eclipse to start looking for secrets in the world around you. There are amazing things to enjoy, amazing people to meet, and magic in every day that we exist.
