Charles J. “Chuck” Cole

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Charles (Chuck) Cole on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born on December 27, 1941 and raised in Eden, NY, Chuck was a graduate of Eden High School, Class of 1960. He continued his education at Erie County Technical Institute before embarking on a successful career as a Project Estimator, and was a member of the Engineering Society of WNY. Chuck dedicated 23 years to Stimm Associates before continuing in the same role for many years at a branch of Ciminelli Construction, where he worked until his retirement 18 years ago. A devoted community member, Chuck served as a volunteer firefighter with the Eden Fire Department for an incredible 41 years. His commitment to service was a source of great pride throughout his life. He was also a lifelong member and usher at St. James United Church of Christ, Hamburg, NY. Chuck enjoyed bowling and was a passionate race car enthusiast, traveling the east coast to watch NASCAR races. He also found great joy in spending time at Bear Lake, where he camped yearly, making countless memories with family and friends. He is survived by his loving daughters, Carolee (Rob Fraass) and Christine (TJ Hooper), and his cherished grandchildren: Sarah, Julia, Laney, Rachel, and Cole. He was also a devoted companion to Ellen Preischel for 33 years, and he embraced her daughter, Carissa Schrubb, as his own. Carissa’s children, Sydney, Madelyn, and Jacob, brought him great happiness. Chuck prioritized his family and made every effort to attend all his grandchildren’s events. Chuck is also survived by his brother, David (Tina) Cole and his nephew, Aaron (Shana) Cole. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Arline and Millard Cole. Chuck will be deeply missed. His dedication to his family, his community, and his many passions left an enduring mark on those around him. To respect Chuck’s wishes, a private service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Eden Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home, 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg, NY. Please share online condolences at www.demmerleyfuneralhome.com
