Uniforms

Coach’s Bags

● Your coach’s bags contains

○ Balls in the correct size for your age group

● As the coach, you will need to bring this bag each week to practice and games

○ A whistle

○ Uniforms for your team

● If you lose something or need a replacement for something, please let us know as soon as you can

○ 1 jersey for the goalie to wear if they want

● Some bags do not have enough balls for each player at this time, but we will have more to give you on the first day

PICTURE DAY!

• Thursday July 6th, 2023

• Pictures will be taken before your scheduled game for the night

• Please remind families multiple times leading up to this date

• If parents have any questions about their order, have them contact Sharp directly

Other Important Dates

First week of practice- Tuesday June 20th and Thursday June 23rd

○ Players will arrive at different times based on age, there will be check in and then players will meet their coaches

○ Coaches are asked to be 20 minutes early to their players arrival time

Age Group Arrival Time 6-7 year olds 4:30 pm 8-9 year olds 5:30 pm 10-11 year olds 6:30 pm 12-14 and high school 7:30 pm

What to expect

● Games will start promptly at the scheduled time. Plan ahead to give yourself and your team the time you need.

● Players are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to game time to allow for warmups

● What players will need

○ Cleats (optional but not necessary)

○ Shin guards

○ Water bottle (it does get hot)

● Frequently remind players and parents to bring the above gear, especially the first few weeks

Schedule

• First 2 days are practice to meet the players and parents

• Shirts are handed out on the first day

Here is an example of what the schedule will look like

• Game schedules will be posted on the website and a schedule will be given to you

Teams

● We will send out an email once teams are finalized and we ask that you reach out to all the parents and/or players to introduce yourself

● Then they can let you know directly if you they will be gone for a game

● You can communicate if you will be gone and need a parent to coach a game

Age- Specifics Game Play

6-7 year olds

• 7v7 including goalies

• 4 x 10 minute with 2 minute quarter breaks

12-14 year olds

• 8v8 including goalie

• 2 x 25 minutes with 5 minute half time

8-9 year olds

• 9v9 including goalies

• 2 x 25 minute with 5 minute half time

15-17 year olds

• 7v7 including goalie

• 2 x 25 minutes with 5 minute half time

10-11 year olds

• 9v9 including goalies

• 2 x 25 minutes with 5 minute half time

Rules

● In the 6-7 age group, the coach is allowed on the field for the FIRST 2 GAMES ONLY.

● Coaches are not allowed to add and/or drop players from their team.

● Each game for ages 8-17 yrs. will be led by one referee. Coaches will referee in the 6-7 age division.

● Shin guards are required for all players. They should be worn underneath the socks.

● Metal cleats/baseball cleats are strictly prohibited.

Suggested Game Timeline

Have the team arrive 20 minutes early to allow for warmup time

Before game

10 minutes: Have the team warm up

During game: Be positive and support the development of the players

Half-time: Discuss positives and give constructive feedback

5 minutes: Take the field and continue warming up

Post-game: Congratulate your team and opposing team and coach.

2 minutes: Give the team final pointers

Remind player and parents of next game and practice

Coaching Tips

● Set goals with your team, they shouldn’t all be about winning every game

● Stress the importance of team work and good sportsman ship

● Play everyone on the team equally

● Be a role model for your players

● Verbally recognize the positives you see in your players, no destructive criticism

● Learn from mistakes and then move on

● Encourage all players
