Pavilions, Shelters, Owen Park Bandshell, and the Phoenix Park Great Lawn and Labyrinth are all reservable Nearby playgrounds and ice rinks remain open to the public during park hours
Neighborhood Park warming shelters that can be reserved during the winter season are Boyd Park, Demmler Shelter, Mitscher Shelter, Oakwood Shelter, Pinehurst Shelter, Putnam Heights Shelter, Roosevelt Shelter, and Sam Davey Shelter
The Owen Park Bandshell and Amphitheater are both reservable Both are most often used for Public Events To make a reservation please call the Parks Administrative Office at (715) 839-5039 All other Park Reservations can be made online
Intoxicating liquor, beer and wine are allowed only in Carson Park, Lower Mt. Simon Park, Riverview Park, Rod & Gun Park, or Phoenix Park Pavilion with city approval. Refunds can be issued for cancellations within 5 business days prior to the event, minus a $7 Administrative Fee. Refunds will not be issued due to inclement weather. For our full refund policy, please visit our Parks Information Reservations page.
Most Community Parks and a few Neighborhood Parks have grills available for your Park Reservations Due to City Ordinance 9 76 110, igniting or maintaining a fire or open flame is not allowed except if fully contained in metal grills in picnic areas or fire rings installed by the City More detailed policies may be found HERE

If your family, group or organization is looking for an opportunity to take an active role in keeping Eau Claire beautiful, there are several ways you can volunteer:
Adopt-a-Park, Adopt-a-Trail, Adopt-a-Flowerbed:
Volunteers pick up litter, report vandalism, weed flowerbeds or help with special projects.
Park or Trail Clean-up: This is a one-time cleanup of a park or trail area.
Parks and Recreation relies on volunteer coaches for several youth sports: baseball, flag football, soccer, and t-ball If you have any experience in any of these sports, consider sharing your knowledge and time as a youth sports coach You will be asked to complete an application before you begin coaching, which includes a background check

Eau Claire Youth Hockey Association (ECYH) is the organizer of the youth (ages 4-15) hockey offerings in the Eau Claire Area ECYH offers programming at the Mini-Mites, Mites, Squirts, Pee-Wees, Bantams, 8U Girls, 10U Girls, 12U Girls and 14U Girls age levels The home site for all clinics, leagues and instructional programs are located at Hobbs Ice Arena, 915 Menomonie Street, Eau Claire, WI.
Ages: 4-5 (Age as of December 31)
Day: Sundays, November - February
Time: 4:45PM-5:30PM or 5:30PM-6:15PM
The Mini-Mite program is a full season (13 weeks) of hockey instruction for all beginning hockey players The emphasis is on fundamentals and increasing confidence in young skaters The program fee covers 9 75 hours of on-ice instruction, a complimentary jersey, hockey stick, and mouth guard Full equipment is required for play ECYH offers full sets of equipment (except skates) for rental with a refundable deposit. Deposit will be refunded upon return of the equipment at the end of the season.
Mite teams will be formed by geographical area or school to the best of our ability. If one school has enough kids to create two or more teams, players will be evaluated during the initial practice sessions and will be placed on teams based on ability level to create equality among teams
Teams will practice two days per week prior to their first scheduled game Additional practices will be scheduled 1-2 days per week after first scheduled game and games will be played mostly on Saturday or Sunday.
Participants will receive a team jersey for the season. ECYH offers full sets of equipment for rental with a refunded deposit, if needed, however players must furnish their own skates, stick, and mouth guard Goalie equipment will be provided for each team
Players will be evaluated during a tryout process and will be placed on teams based on ability level All players will be placed on a team. Participants will receive a team jersey for the season. Players must furnish their own hockey equipment.

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In order to help ensure that the registration process is fair to all, you may only register for members of your immediate household It is not acceptable for one person to register neighbors/friends/ extended relatives along with their own registrations. Only a parent/legal guardian may register youth participants.
Patrons will be asked each calendar year to verify their eligibility for the Scholarship Program Upon renewal, Patrons must show Proof of Address, ID, and Proof of Assistance (sorry, no FoodShare cards are accepted, letters only) Patrons who live within the City of Eau Claire City Limits and pay property taxes to the City of Eau Claire are eligible. Patrons who reside in Townships are not eligible
Class registrations are NOT accepted at program sites. Persons MUST register PRIOR to participation in ANY program through one of the above methods Be prepared to show your receipt at the first class session Waitlisted participants will be contacted by Recreation office staff only when space is available in the program
Parks and Recreation accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa for all registration and program payments
Personal information is safe and secure. Registration forms which include credit card numbers will be shredded immediately after processing
Read your receipt to verify that you and/or your family members are enrolled in the correct class/session Any program changes in dates, times, special requirements, will be noted there. If you do not receive a receipt call our office at (715) 839-5032

Then, create your personal account with a user ID and password An email will be sent confirming new account; must click link to activate new accounts Online registrations have priority over mailed and faxed registrations If you happen to forget your account login information, please email recreation@eauclairewi.gov and a new, temporary password will be setup for you

Registrations mailed to our office are time stamped and processed in the order they are received. Mailing applications does not guarantee admission into a class We recommend registering online to better ensure that your child may be enrolled in the classes that are chosen
Log in to your account, then go to the “Activities” tab and either type in the name of the program or the program code. Once the activity is on your screen, click on “Enroll Now” and follow the registration steps

If classes are full, patrons are encouraged to join the waitlist in the event that an opening occurs If your children are taken off the waitlist, our Recreation Administrative Office will either call or email the number and/or email listed on your account. Patrons will typically have 24 hours to respond. If we do not hear back from you, your child will be removed from the waitlist and the next child on the waitlist will be contacted
Families will be asked to confirm their eligibility status once each calendar year.

Provide letter showing current proof of Food Share Quest for all Family Members applying. Family members not listed on these letters will have to provide an alternative proof of assistance.
Applicant must contact Great Rivers Consortium at 1-888-283-0012 and request a “Print Screen” stating the family’s name and current food share allowance/effective date No Food Share or Badger Care cards will be accepted as proof.

Proof of ECASD Free Lunch Program:
Provide paperwork showing entry into the ECASD Free Lunch Program Paperwork must be from the most recent school year Family members not listed on these letters will have to provide an alternative proof of assistance.

Indoor pool water temperatures are regulated by the school district, not Parks and Recreation With the exception of Fairfax Municipal Pool, the schools try to maintain a comfortable water temperature
In order to give all participants an equal opportunity to enroll in classes, we ask that each participant be registered for only one aquatics class per session and one waitlist per session Staff will review registrations will delete and or refund any exceeding our policies
It is not recommended to enroll your child in a sequence of levels throughout the summer. See new class descriptions on which class to appropriately enroll your child in. It's best to make sure your child is comfortable in the level they are in before enrolling in the next level
(Ages: 6 Months - 4 Years) An adult is REQUIRED to participate in the water with each child
PARENT/CHILD LEVEL 1
Prerequisites: 6 months of age before the first class
Goal: Familiarize children with water, teaching swimming readiness skills, building safe habits for aquatic environments, educating parents on how to safely supervise and enjoy the water with their children
PARENT/CHILD LEVEL 2
Prerequisites: 6 months of age before the first class AND confidently explore the water with support.
Goal: Children learn when and how to safely enter and exit the water, develop breath control, gain comfort with a feeling of buoyancy, learn arm and leg actions for swimming, and continue building safe habits for aquatic environments, including the expectation of parent supervision and what to do in an emergency Provides parents with safety information and techniques they can use to help their children in the water
(Age: 4-5 Years): A parent is NOT required to be in water
OTTER
Prerequisites: 4 years of age before the first class
Goal: Learn when and how to independently enter and exit the water then travel 5 yards, develop breath control, experience and gain comfort with buoyancy on the front and back, practice beginner arm and leg action on the front and back, prepare to safely participate in aquatic activities, learn how to recognize emergencies and call for help. All skills can be completed with support by the instructor
SEAL
Goal: Begin to independently float, glide, and travel 3 body lengths, perform previous skills for longer lengths of time or longer distances, explore deeper water, prepare to safely participate in aquatic activities, and learn how to recognize emergencies and call for help. All skills can be completed with assistance by the instructor
DOLPHIN
Goal: Gain increasing independence and endurance while swimming, floating, and gliding; explore treading water, learn more about safely participating in aquatic environments, learn how to safely respond once help is on the way All skills should be completed independently
(Ages: 6-15): Begin Learn to Swim with Level 1 unless otherwise recommended by a swim instructor
LEVEL 1
Prerequisites: 6 years of age before the first class Goal: Orientate children to the aquatic environment, teach basic aquatic skills, prepare children to safely participate in aquatic activities, and learn a new safety topic each class Skills that are focused on: traveling at least 5 yards, bobbing 5 times then safely exiting the water, gliding on front supported at least 2 body lengths, and rolling to a back float for 5 seconds with assistance
LEVEL 2
Goal: Begin to independently float, glide, and move through the water Perform previous skills for longer lengths of time for longer distances, explore deeper water, prepare to safely participate in aquatic activities, and learn a new safety topic each class Skills that are focused on: learn to float without support for 15 seconds and swim about 10 yards continuously independently
LEVEL 3
Goal: Perform previous skills for longer lengths of time or longer distances, introduction to the front crawl, elementary backstroke, headfirst entries, develop water competency, and learn a new safety topic each class. Skills focused on: front crawl for 25 yards, swimming the elementary backstroke for 25 yards, survival float, and jumping into deep water from the side and treading
LEVEL 4
Goal: Perform previous skills with greater proficiency and build endurance, introduction to the back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly, and turning at the wall. Learn a new safety topic each class Skills focused on: breaststroke for 15 yards, back crawl for 15 yards and introduction to butterfly: swim 15 yards
LEVEL 5
Goal: Perform previous skills with greater proficiency and build endurance Introduction to flip turns on front and back, perform a long shallow dive, surface, and begin swimming Learn a new safety topic each class. Skills focused on: front crawl for 50 yards, elementary backstroke for 50 yards, breaststroke for 25 yards, and the back crawl for 25 yards
LEVEL 6
Goal: Stroke refinement for greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances Focus on personal water safety and the skills necessary to become a Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguard Learn a new safety topic each class Skills focused on: swimming 500 yards continuously using any 3 strokes, demonstrate all six swimming strokes for 50 or 100 yards, demonstrate various survival techniques for 10 minutes, and demonstrate treading without arms using multiple kicks

All artists will receive a canvas board to create a one of a kind painting! We will use tape, stencils, or glue as a resist technique, explore color mixing, and explore various painting tools! Come dressed for a messy, fun time!
White bandanas and tie dye pigments will be provided for young artists to experiment with dying a variety of patterns and colors. Please bring anything else that you may want to dye, such as socks, shirts, bags, etc. Come dressed for a messy time!

Young artists will use collages to revive old art, magazines, books, posters, and more to create new, personalized art projects During our time together we will learn about the ways collage has been used within art throughout history. Each week we will experiment using a different type of collaging material and technique and by the end you will be a collaging expert!
Young artists will create abstract art using a variety of different styles, materials, and techniques, including painting, sculpting, and drawing During our time together we will learn about how the abstract art movements changed the direction of the art world Each week we will get messy and creative and by the end you will be an abstract art expert!
Young artists will experiment with different ways of creating bright, bold artworks inspired by famous “pop artists ” During our time together we will learn about where pop art came from and why the style became so popular Each week we will focus on creating an art project using elements of pop art such as bold colors, patterns, and layering and by the end you will be a pop art expert!
