The geographic location provides global access for both goods and people. From Port Houston to a host of multi-national entities doing business around the clock, the Houston Port region is where you want to be to connect your business to the world:
BUSIEST PORT, a powerhouse largely due to our business-friendly climate as well as access to world-class infrastructure and a talented workforce that crosses production, maritime and an array of logistic expertise.
TO THE
NUMEROUS LOGISTICAL AND DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS, an ideal hub for companies that need worldwide distribution for their products. Access is aided by our world-class infrastructure that supplies workers, minimizes time, transportation, and distribution costs domestically and internationally.
A STABLE INVESTMENT FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTED BY A STRONG EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM that includes several workforce development centers of excellence through our higher learning institutions and safety educational partners.
In 2024 the Economic Alliance continued to meet our mission to market and grow a vibrate Houston Port Region economy by maintaining the region’s competitive advantage for capital investment and providing members business to business networking and growth opportunities.
The make-up of our region is unique in that there is not a blueprint of how to strategize to improve our activities focused on economic development, public policy, transportation infrastructure, workforce development, and knowledge sharing. For this reason, Economic Alliance has established itself as the convening entity in identifying and prioritizing issues of Houston Port region significance.
The following highlights our collaborative approach and the impacts staff, members and partners have made to continue our dominance as the most sought-after destination in the world for petrochemical, maritime, logistics and manufacturing operations:
- 2 Wins consisted of $424M in capital investment and 520 direct jobs created over the next 5 years.
PUBLIC POLICY - Organized a 52-person Economic Alliance Leadership Team to present our Federal Policy priorities in D.C. through 41 meetings with Senate, Congressional and Association representatives.
- Acknowledgement of our advocacy for the redevelopment of SH225 with TXDOT carrying out a formal plan to study and redesign one of the Houston Port region’s most critical transportation corridors.
- Connected with 5,000+ individuals/students through 43 career path presentations at 57 different school districts, utilizing 26 volunteers from 9 different companies to market high paying careers in the petrochemical, maritime, logistics and manufacturing industries.
QUALITY OF LIFE - Provided 2 matching grants through the San Jacinto Texas Historic District for projects promoting public safety, beautification and community activities aligned with impacting the Houston Port region.
INSIGHTS/THOUGHT LEADERSHIP - Hosted over 2,800 attendees at 9 events with an average attendance of 318 at the Gulf Coast Industry Forum, Economic Outlook, 2 Industrial Procurement Forums, 3 Women in Alliance luncheons and the Annual Membership Banquet.
I want to thank all those that have contributed to the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at supporting the Houston Port region over the last year. It is your investment in Economic Alliance that allows us to create an environment for collaboration and growth.
I urge you to highlight our accomplishments to prospective members who would benefit from our diverse and well connected organization.
