Dear Parents, carers and all in the Chessington community,

Welcome to our first official newsletter of this academic year. Three weeks into the term and lots to report on.

YEARS 7 & 12

Our new year 7 and 12’s have settled in really well. It was lovely to see so many parents at the Year 7 BBQ last week in spite of the downpour of

GEOGRAPHY FIELDWORK

Year 11 Geography students braved the cold water in their rivers fieldwork trip

“On Tuesday our Year 11 Geography students spent the day on their second fieldwork trip of

the GCSE course. Their previous trip in July focused on Human Geography so this trip was based around the Physical Geography side of the course. We visited the Field Studies Council Centre at Juniper Hall in order to investigate the River Tillingbourne. Students spent a sunny day standing in the river (in wellies!), measuring the depth, width and velocity of the river in order to investigate downstream change along the River Tillingbourne. This is the final field trip of the GCSE course, and students will be examined on the data collected and their findings in the Paper 3 GCSE exam in June ”

OPEN EVENING

And finally, our amazing school showcased all of the wonderful departments, staff and students that Chessington has to offer. I couldn’t have been prouder as we welcomed over 400 people through our doors for our Open Evening last night

Nearly 300 students were excellent ambassadors as tour guides and subject helpers and they did a fantastic job. We had so many

Our music and drama students wowed the visitors with a wide range of performances which showed just how talented the students at Chessington are. Auditions are underway for the annual school production which this year is Shrek The Musical

Every department showcased some excellent and engaging activities, as families were leaving they were amazed at how long they stayed and this was due to all of the exciting challenges and tasks that our departments set up
