Dear Parents, carers and all in the Chessington community,

I hope that you have been enjoying the lovely weather

We have had a busy few weeks leading up to the end of the academic year and plenty still to take place.

YEAR 11

The Year 11’s finished their GCSE exams with the superb work ethic that they started with. We celebrated with them at their Prom on Friday evening They looked stunning and danced the night away at the Double Tree Hilton in Kingston A great time was had by all!

They can collect their results on Thursday 21st August. Further details on GCSE Results Day can be found HERE.

KS3 EXAMS

Years 7,8 & 9 completed their end of year exams and the results will be shared over the next couple of weeks They will spend time in lessons closing gaps in their knowledge preparing them for the next year’s study. Reports will also be sent home to parents.

YEAR 5 TASTER DAYS

We have begun hosting our feeder primary schools for Year 5 Taster Days, it’s been great to see them so excited about trying new subjects and experiencing secondary school Mr West and I have also visited all of them in their primary schools with some student ambassadors to talk to them about the transition to secondary school

YEAR 7 TRANSITION

Speaking of transition, we welcomed our new Year 7 students and their parents to an information evening last Thursday. It was great to see how excited and enthusiastic they all were We also have our induction day for them this week. I can’t wait to get to know more about them in the years to come.

PERFORMANCE FACULTY SHOWCASE

We held our first Performance Faculty showcase last week, there was such a wide range of performers, singing, dancing, acting and some solo musical performances. Not forgetting the outstanding artwork that was on display. It was a fantastic evening and really demonstrated the progress made within this faculty A huge thank you to all the staff who helped prepare the students

This enabled our new Yr12 students to meet key staff and hear more about their chosen courses. It was lovely to see some familiar faces from Yr11.

READING CONFERENCE

Mr Ashton took a group of our student librarians to a reading conference hosted at Southborough

“Our Y7 librarians were invited to Southborough High School for a very enjoyable talk by the author Natasha Farrant about her new book, The Secret of Golden Island We heard Natasha speak about her love of reading, the importance of the natural world to her writing process, and what inspires her to keep putting pen to paper Our students were brilliant representatives of the school and took the opportunity to ask some great questions, including about how difficult it is to write a book entirely from scratch, even when you’re an established children’s author!”
