Annie Hardock, inspired by her parents' financial struggles, learned early on that education and personal development were key to financial independence a lesson she now shares as an educator and entrepreneur. After moving from Hong Kong to Canada in 1980, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, majoring in Computer Science, from the University of Waterloo
In 2010, Annie founded a child learning center focused on math education, which she transitioned to a virtual and hybrid model in 2020 to provide accessible, high-quality education globally In 2023, she expanded the program to Asia through Easy Zone Education Limited in Hong Kong Passionate about youth empowerment, Annie collaborates with universities on research and placement programs, offering practical experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and E-Learning, while supporting local youth employment
Annie’s abacus program is designed around incremental learning to strengthen students' foundational mental math skills, listening, and processing abilities By incorporating diverse learning strategies visual, kinesthetic, and auditory using both digital and physical abacuses, the program ensures a hands-on experience It also employs a game-based approach to make learning enjoyable and engaging for students

This is the second unit of a three-part series designed to help students unlock the mastery of abacus mental math In this unit, students will learn to multiply two-digit numbers using the abacus by breaking each number into its place values (tens and ones), manipulating the beads to represent those values, and performing step-by-step operations to gradually find the product For division, students will be introduced to dividing more complex three-and four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers This hands-on approach helps students visually understand the processes of multiplication and division by allowing them to physically move beads in alignment with their calculations, reinforcing their understanding of place value, and offering a tactile method to grasp complex concepts in both multiplication and division.
