Introduction to Annie (Yuen) Hardock

袁瑞琴

Annie Hardock, inspired by her parents' financial struggles, learned early on that education and personal development were key to financial independence—a lesson she now shares as an educator and entrepreneur. After moving from Hong Kong to Canada in 1980, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, majoring in Computer Science, from the University of Waterloo.

In 2010, Annie founded a child learning center focused on math education, which she transitioned to a virtual and hybrid model in 2020 to provide accessible, high-quality education globally. In 2023, she expanded the program to Asia through Easy Zone Education Limited in Hong Kong. Passionate about youth empowerment, Annie collaborates with universities on research and placement programs, offering practical experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and E-Learning, while supporting local youth employment.

About Easy Math’s Abacus Program Annie’s abacus program is designed around incremental learning to strengthen students' foundational mental math skills, listening, and processing abilities. By incorporating diverse learning strategies—visual, kinesthetic, and auditory—using both digital and physical abacuses, the program ensures a hands-on experience. It also employs a game-based approach to make learning enjoyable and engaging for students.

Easy Math’s Abacus image exercises and speed hearing train students to engage both hemispheres of the brain: the logical left side for manipulating the virtual abacus and the abstract right side for conceptual understanding. These unique exercises strengthen brain functions and can improve creativity, focus, and intuitive thinking.

Unlocking the Mastery of Abacus Mental Math Series This is the first unit of a three-part series aimed at helping students to unlock the mastery of abacus mental math. In this foundational unit, students will be introduced to basic one-digit multiplication and division using the abacus, a tactile learning tool that will help them visualize and understand mathematical operations. By manipulating the beads on the abacus, students will learn to represent numbers and use hands-on techniques to perform simple multiplication and division. Additionally, they will start working on reading image exercises to further enhance their mental math skills and visualization abilities.
