(lori Allen & Monte Durham) Lori Allen and Monte Durham, stars of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, have been friends for over 20 years. They met in a designer showroom during Bridal Fashion Week in New York and, as Lori recalls, she decided that Monte was going to be her friend that very day. In fact, she politely asked him to host a fashion show at Bridals by Lori the following weekend (he recalls this invitation somewhat differently). After that weekend, their friendship was written in the stars both literally and figuratively.

which, in turn, evolved into the award-winning television special, Say Yes to the Cure: Lori's Fight.

Viewers got an inside look at Lori's personal journey and fought the fight with her, which eventually led to Lori beating beast cancer- and becoming an advocate for early detection.

When Lori got a call from NorthSouth Productions to shoot a reality-show pilot in her famed Atlanta-based bridal salon, one of the first people she called was her best friend, Monte. They shot the pilot and had got the green light from TLC for Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta in a matter of weeks.

To date, the cast and crew of Say Yes have shot over 170 shows and helped numerous brides find their dream gown at Bridals by Lori. Robin, Megan and Flori have been on the show since the beginning and recently Lori's daughter, Mollie, joined in the fun. Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta has become a world-wide phenomenon airing in over 150 countries.

In October 2012, Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer. After deliberating a short time, she decided to allow cameras to follow her journey

Both Lori and Monte passionately believe in giving back. Monte works closely with Capital Caring Hospice and the Welsh Terrier Rescue, while Lori spends each October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, sharing her story of breast cancer survival in partnership with organizations like Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society.

In 2015, Lori's daughter, Mollie, introduced her to Sunshine on Ranney Day. The Bridals by Lori team (Lori, Monte, Robin, Flo, Megan, and Lori's children Mollie and Cory) have worked on two dream makeover rooms. Both Monte and Lori consider Sunshine on a Ranney Day to be a wonderful and life-changing way to impact the lives of children and give them a chance to Say Yes to a bright future.

(camp twin lakes) KEEP CALM & CAMP ON Each year, SOARD completes one special

project that helps children outside of a home residence. We love helping the community and partnering with amazing organizations. This year we partnered with Camp Twin Lakes! Camp Twin Lakes has delivered fully adaptive, medically supportive, and deeply impactful camp experiences to more than 10,000 of Georgia’s children and young adults, helping each camper grow in their confidence and experience the joys of childhood. Through intentional play, they develop mindful and confident children who are prepared to triumph over challenges. By learning perseverance, resilience, and a sense of community, the campers leave transformed and capable of extraordinary things.

Camp Twin Lakes built a new space for ceramics, wood working, and an open-air teaching kitchen. They also wanted to have a “Zen Den” to serve multiple purposes including a quiet room where a child can rest, a play room for when outdoor activities are rained out, and a sensory space for when a camper needs a calm environment. Sunshine on a Ranney Day, along with our amazing design team from Randall-Paulson Architects, gave these kids a Zen Den and 2 wheelchair accessible bathrooms to help the kids.

It was the one moment that shattered a family

and yet brought the special needs community together in ways we would have never imagined.

The story of Tripp Halstead not only touched millions, it inspired so many of us to become better people, to reach out and help others.

Sunshine On a Ranney Day is honored to pay tribute tonight to Tripp who is one of our heroes. We are so thankful to have his parents, Bill and Stacy, with us this evening as they continue to carry on his legacy of making the world a better place. When a tree limb fell at Tripp’s daycare and shattered his skull, Stacy and Bill opened their home to us through

social media, giving us a glimpse of what it was like to care for a special needs child. We witnessed the pain, struggles, triumphs, joy and ultimately the heartbreaking loss of their only child. Bill and Stacy now use their passion and strength, testing their physical strength and limits on the road and in the water, raising money for children with special needs, including many of our Sunshine On a Ranney Day kids.

(how it came to be) Sunshine on a Ranney Day (SOARD) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit approved organization based in Roswell, Georgia, founded in 2012 by Peter and Holly Ranney.

In 2012, Sunshine on a Ranney Day performed it’s first makeover for an 11 year old boy who always wanted a military bunker bedroom. This special child was Mathew Majka who was battling a brain tumor. From that point on, the husband and wife duo, Peter and Holly Ranney, realized this mission was bigger than they imagined.

The vision of Sunshine on a Ranney Day is to renovate homes for children with special needs and restore hope for families. We are a licensed general contractor that specializes in wheelchair accessible bathrooms, dream bedrooms, in-home therapy rooms and wheelchair ramps/lifts. We take great pride in the quality of our work, professionalism and passion that our team puts into each makeover. Through our partnerships with local companies and donors we are able to offer our makeovers to families at no cost.

Fun Fact: The SOARD charity logo and official mascot, Gracie, is the adorable pot-bellied pig Peter gave to Holly as a wedding gift.

realized Sunshine on a Ranney Day was our calling. Having our son, Tucker, has brought an even stronger belief in our mission. The love for your child is unconditional. We cannot imagine what these families go through on a daily basis, but we strive to make their lives a little easier. A home makeover has an immediate long-term impact. We have been blessed to have amazing partnerships, donors, volunteers, and community support.

SOARD has been able to increase the number of makeovers each year with our added staff members. We can’t say enough about how hard these ladies work and how big their hearts are. (speaker: Mohamed Massaquoi) A Charlotte, North Carolina native, Mohamed was the

second round pick for the Cleveland Browns in the 2009 NFL draft where he recorded two 100-yard receiving games his rookie year, the first Browns rookie to have two or more such games in a season since Kevin Johnson in 1999. Before joining the NFL, In just 3 ½ years, Mohamed earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia where he was named the 2008 team captain and elected as a first-team All-Southeastern Conference and Academic All-SEC member, and received the team’s Leon Farmer Award for his dedication to the strength and conditioning program and academics.

Mohamed attended Independence High School helping his team win 77 consecutive games and capture four consecutive North Carolina state 4A championships while setting the North Carolina state prep records for career receiving yards, receiving yards (4,851) in a season (2004), touchdown catches in a career (76), and touchdown catches in a season (32 as a senior).

In Spring 2017, while riding ATVs with friends, Mohamed was involved in a an accident that resulted in the amputation of four fingers, leaving his thumb intact. Since retiring from the NFL, Mohamed has worked at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor and is currently a speaker and advocate for fitness, athletes in business, and amputee causes. Mohamed has been a student at the Harvard Business School, completing it’s Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports program led by Anita Elberse.

Mohamed is also a proud board member of Sunshine on a Ranney Day.
