Founded in 2012 as an integral part of the global Dwight Schools network, Dwight Seoul distinguishes itself as a leading international school ofering a comprehensive range of the IB programmes – PYP, MYP, and DP – tailored for students from PS3 to Grade 12.

Recognized as the inaugural IB Continuum School in Seoul, we hold the distinction of being authorized to provide all three programs and have been exclusively selected by the Seoul Municipal Government to establish a model IB World School in the city.

History

Dwight School’s legacy dates back to 1872 and boasts a rich history as a venerable educational institution in New York City. Originally designed to prepare graduates for entry into prestigious universities, our namesake is Yale’s twelfth president, Timothy Dwight V.

Continuing this illustrious legacy, Dwight Seoul was founded in 2012, upholding a commitment to innovation and personalized learning as the leading IB Continuum School in Seoul. We proudly hold the distinction of being the exclusive institution selected by the Seoul Municipal Government to establish a model IB World School in the city.

Today, Dwight Seoul stands as an integral part of the global network of Dwight Schools. In 2021, to further strengthen our commitment, Dwight established a strategic partnership with the Global Schools Group.

How We Deliver

We believe that a strong sense of community is essential for a holistic education. Our students, parents, teachers, and staf work together in unity to foster a caring and inclusive environment.

• Student-led initiatives - Dwight students are encouraged then supported to expand their interests and passions in and out of school, e.g., Robotics Club, STUCO (student council), US Congressional Coding Challenge, Global Health Forum at JHU.

• Community events and celebrations - we host and participate in a range of activities and events that bring our community together, e.g., KAIAC - Korean American Interscholastic Activities Conference, Family Math Night, International Spring Fair, Grandparents Day, Career Day, VIP Reading Day, Parent Workshops.

• Parent Involvement - Dwight Parent Association plays a vital role in Dwight Seoul’s communitybuilding eforts and educational objectives through social and fundraising activities. Parent Links serve in the liaison capacity between parents, staf, and administration.

How We Deliver

• Multilingual education

• Week Without Walls - helps Dwight students to gain invaluable skills in cultural awareness, communication, problem-solving, leadership, and global citizenship, e.g., service trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia to build water filtering system, reef restoration in Bali, Indonesia.

• Global network of Dwight Schools - being part of the network allows for cross-campus exchange program opportunities, including the annual Global Music Concert, London ChoirFest, Sparkathon.

Student Support

We provide programs that are designed to help students with learning diferences succeed in the rigorous Dwight curriculum as well as manage their socio-emotional capacity. Their academic success and well-being go hand in hand at Dwight.

QUEST - Learning Support

Students can receive personalized support in small groups, pairs, or individually in the areas of academics, speech, language therapy, and or occupational therapy.

VOYAGE - English as an Additional Language (EAL)

This program is for students learning English as an additional language. Support takes place during the school day.

WELL-BEING

We ofer the SPARK program, a unique and comprehensive approach to developing the skills and knowledge students need to care for themselves and to thrive.

COUNSELING

Our Pastoral Counselor is available to facilitate one-to-one or small group sessions, restorative mediation meetings between students and parent workshops.

SPARK

At Dwight Seoul, we hold the conviction that the health and well-being of students are fundamental to their learning and achievement. This conviction fuels our dedication to the SPARK program, a unique and comprehensive initiative designed to empower students with the essential skills and knowledge for self-care and overall growth. Within the framework of the SPARK program, we embrace diversity and bring to life the traits outlined in the Learner Profile of the IB. This program fosters a culture that encourages students to embody balance, compassion, efective communication, and curiosity about the world.

SPARK encapsulates the following components:

Social and Emotional Wellbeing: Students acquire the ability regulate their emotions through various methods, such as mindfulness, fostering healthy relationships, attending to their mental health, and managing stress.

Physical Wellbeing: Students gain insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle, encompassing aspects such as proper nutrition, exercise routines, and sleep habits.

Action and Agency: Students cultivate the skills to set objectives, solve problems, and make accountable decisions. They acquire the knowledge and capabilities necessary to discover their unique “spark of genius.”

Responsibility: Students become familiar with their rights and responsibilities, developing the awareness required to make informed choices.

Knowledge: Students cultivate an understanding of responsibility, respect, and the importance of being accountable digital and global citizens. They also enhance their proficiency in time management and interpersonal skills, enabling them to communicate efectively with other and navigate both their academic and non-academic pursuits

Film and Media - Our film and media programs integrate the latest technology with the exploration of self-expression, giving students a chance to immerse themselves in this dynamic artistic medium.

Music - The immersive music programs at Dwight Seoul focus on fostering essential listening, performance, and composition skills.

Drama and Theatre - Middle Years students engage in drama, while those in our Diploma Programme can actively participate in theatre. Both programs prioritize creative expression and collaboration, empowering students to craft captivating performance pieces.

School Production - The school production is a collaborative endeavor providing students with the opportunity to contribute as actors, singers, musicians, stage managers, designers, technicians, and more.

Dwight Seoul Students Collaborate Globally

They annually take part in the Dwight London Choir Festival and the Dwight Global Music Concert held in New York City, Shanghai, Seoul, and Dubai. Additionally, students have the chance to engage in diverse events across South Korea through organizations such as KIMEA (Korean International Music Educators Association) and KIDEA (Korean International Drama Educators Association).

The University & Career Counseling program is dedicated to guiding students and their families through post-secondary goals. With expertise in counseling students from diverse backgrounds in South Korea's international schools, we support global educational exploration. Our commitment extends to quarterly group sessions, University & College guest sessions, and Career Day, ensuring students and families are well-prepared for a successful transition to university and beyond.
