At Dwight, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) provides a rich framework for nurturing curiosity and inspiring young learners to ask questions, explore ideas, and make meaningful connections. Our Early Childhood Division (ECD) and Lower School are closely connected, each playing a vital role in the PYP while o ering experiences tailored to the needs of our youngest learners and those beginning their elementary journey.
In the ECD, children learn through a play-based, inquiry-driven approach that encourages them to explore, imagine, and make sense of the world around them. This joyful environment lays the foundation for curiosity, creativity, and confidence, helping every child to discover the spark of genius within.
As students transition into the Lower School, inquiry remains at the heart of learning, where every child is seen as a capable and unique learner with unlimited potential. Through a balance of academic challenge and joyful exploration, students are supported in developing not only their knowledge and skills but also their sense of self, their wellbeing, and their relationships with others.
The focus is always on the whole child - cultivating independence, resilience, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning. Within our warm and inclusive community, children are empowered to grow with confidence, knowing they belong and that their ideas and voices truly matter.
