SANTA CLAUS IN VISUALIZA

As is tradition, in December Santa surprised us again with his visit to our Visualiza facilities, giving smiles, sweet touches and warm greetings to all our patients and collaborators.

PROVIDING EYE HEALTH TO THE ENTIRE GUATEMALAN POPULATION

Community Outreach in La Mesilla, Huehuetenango

Eye care for the older adult in La Mesilla, Huehuetenango and surrounding communities. The objective of the activity is to provide eye care to groups of people with little accessibility to eye health. During the activity, evaluations were carried out and cases of cataracts were detected. During the evaluations more than 15 operations were scheduled, which will be performed in January during the Surgical Day. We also had the opportunity to donate eyeglasses to children in the community, from our program Ventanitas de Luz (Little Windows of Light).

Community Outreach in Mataquescuintla Jalapa

In coordination with CREI, a care day was held for children of the national education system, teachers and family members of the community of Mataquescuintla, Jalapa. Cases of refractive defects and ocular pathologies were detected in children, as well as retinopathy, glaucoma and cataract in adults who were referred to Guatemala.

The outreach was held in the multipurpose and sports hall of Adelanto, Jutiapa, the evaluations were focused especially on the elderly and children of the community, thus contributing to eradicate preventable blindness in our country.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Throughout the year 2022, our Human Resources team carried out trainings, workshops and activities with the objective of encouraging unity, personal and professional development of each one of our employees; December was no exception; therefore, the following activities were carried out during the month:

HOW TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE AND TIMELY FEEDBACK TO OUR TEAMS, aimed at directors, managers and area leaders. During the activity, techniques for providing adequate and timely feedback to employees were presented.

TRANSFORMING ADVERSITY INTO OPPORTUNITIES, focused on vision centers, regional supervisor and head of vision and optical centers. The objective of the activity was to establish goals and objectives, in a determined period, promoting continuous improvement.

NORMAL ANATOMY OF THE RETINA AND MAIN DISEASES THAT CAN AFFECT IT, TAUGHT TO OPTOMETRISTS OF VISION CENTERS. To reinforce knowledge of the different ocular pathologies to the optometrists of each vision center and thus have a better diagnosis to refer to a base hospital.

BIOMETRY, training developed for medical and counseling assistants of San Benito, Petén. They were introduced to the different ocular parameters such as the axial length of the eye, and the depth of the anterior chamber.

QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY STRATEGIES, aimed at vision centers, regional supervisor and head of vision and optics centers. The objective of the activity was to present the strategic pillars of Visualiza to the collaborators of the Vision Centers in order to align the 2023 strategy.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND NEW PROCESSES 2023, given to our ophthalmologists, internal medicine and anesthesiologists. Its objective was to inform the new processes of 2023; and how the studies conducted by Dr. Renato Papa will help to have improvements and updates in the
