Development Learning & 2025-26
At Dukes, our dedication to fostering a passion for learning permeates every aspect of our mission. It stands as one of the four core values guiding our daily efforts. While our focus is on instilling this love of learning in our students, it’s crucial to remember that we, too, must actively nurture it within ourselves.
At Dukes, leadership is our defining strength—our superpower. It’s not a title or a role, but a way of being. When we lead with intention and curiosity, we unlock our ability to realise our three tenets:
• High Performance – consistent excellence in all we do;
• Innovation & Adventure – the courage to do things differently and push boundaries;
• Service – a deep commitment to others and to making a difference.
Leadership of this kind is fuelled by learning, and sustained by those who remain open, inquisitive, and brave enough to grow.
In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, ongoing education is not merely advantageous—it is essential. Those who embrace lifelong learning are better positioned to grasp new opportunities, ensuring that both they and their organisations remain ahead of the curve. This is why we believe that Continuing Professional Development (CPD) holds value for every member of the Dukes community. Learning not only equips us to adapt to novel concepts
and situations but also empowers all those we engage with, including the young people in our care.
Consider Michelangelo, who famously declared, “Ancora imparo” (“I’m still learning”) in his later years. This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of curiosity and humility that propels the greatest innovators—an ethos we aspire to embody and share with all.

the Group Introducing Education Team
The quality of all we do in service of our pupils is the defining measure of our success at Dukes. That is why, at the heart of our approach, sits the newly established Group Education Team which will now have oversight over Learning & Development at Dukes. This team forms a core part of our delivery unit, bringing together expertise, insight, and innovation to drive continuous improvement and a focus on the highest quality of education across all Dukes schools and settings.
In a time of rapid technological change, it is the human aspects of education— relationships, inspiration, and the transformative power of exceptional teaching—that remain irreplaceable. By championing collaboration, professional learning, and evidence-informed practice, our Group Education Team supports our schools to deliver meaningful, world-class learning experiences for every pupil.
The Team

We are delighted to welcome Libby Nicholas into the role of Group Education Director, beginning in mid-summer. Libby will lead the new Education Team with a sharp focus on enhancing the quality of education across the group. Her priorities include deepening collaboration, embedding best practice, and supporting the development of a global curriculum framework that connects our schools across regions and age phases. Libby will be supported by a team of experienced leaders:
Sebastian Hepher will transition from his role as Principal of Eaton Square Prep to take up a new part-time position as Deputy Director of Education, where he will work closely with Libby Nicholas and Professor Mark Bailey to support school improvement across the group.
Professor Mark Bailey concludes his tenure as MD for London South/Central at the end of this academic year and will continue to play a pivotal role in Dukes’ strategic direction. He will remain on the UK Board and take on the role of Chair of the newly formed Global Educational Advisory Board, contributing his deep expertise to the evolution of our international educational vision.
Richard Fletcher, Director of Performance, continues to provide oversight of Learning & Development and plays a key role in supporting professional growth across the organisation.
Together, this team brings a powerful blend of academic expertise, school leadership experience, and strategic insight to support every setting in delivering an excellent education.

Quest Assessment Working Groups
To enhance the quality of education across Dukes, we are strategically partnering with Quest Assessment. This initiative aims to develop a cohesive, groupwide approach to assessment, focusing on impact, comparability, and clarity of progress.
Central to this initiative is our collaboration with Quest Assessments, a platform developed by UK teachers, data scientists, and assessment specialists. Quest offers reliable, standardised testing with fixed and customisable assessments, providing diagnostic content and adaptable reporting at various levels. We will be introducing Quest Assessments into the Prep Schools and Primary phases from September 2025 and into our Senior phases from September 2026.
The Key Stage Assessment Working Groups will work in partnership with Quest’s capabilities to:
• Align assessments with our curriculum, ensuring they reflect the learning objectives we have established.
• Automate data entry and reporting, saving time for educators and providing clear insights into student performance to inform teacher focus and interventions.
• Design intelligent, accessible assessments, focusing on inclusivity and adherence to Ofqual guidance.
By integrating Quest Assessments into our strategy, we aim to create a robust assessment framework that supports teaching and learning across all Dukes settings.
Strategic Objectives
The Group Education Function has been established to help realise Dukes’ ambition of educational excellence across all settings. Strategic priorities for the year ahead include:
• To improve the quality of education across all Dukes schools and colleges.
• To enhance the Dukes brand and ensure the group is at the forefront of educational research, innovation and thinking.
• To embed a strong teacher recruitment, development and retention strategy.
These objectives will guide our work over the coming year, ensuring that the function not only supports but elevates education across the Dukes community.
Contact and Contributions
The strength of our group lies in its people. We are always looking to learn from the innovation, expertise, and creativity found across our schools. If you are running an initiative, project, or approach that’s had real impact in your setting and you believe others might benefit, we would love to hear from you.
Please get in touch at EducationTeam@ dukeseducation.com and share your idea. Let’s build the future of education—together.
Development Learning & Framework Our
Whatever your role in the Dukes family, our programmes are designed to help you deepen your skills, gain confidence, and become a more effective professional.
Our Learning & Development Framework encourages this kind of growth in a variety of ways. Our programmes may help you find greater clarity of purpose, or gain insight on how to help your colleagues thrive; alternatively, you might acquire the technical skills to manage finances or lead on Data Protection.
When these principles are developed with an attitude of Aspiration & Engagement in an individual – or an organisation – then outstanding performance naturally occurs.
The Dukes Hub Learning
Please login to our new Learning Hub, a space where we can come together and share our love of learning.

In the words of our founder and chairman
Aatif Hassan,
“When you bring people together who share a common purpose and a common set of principles, extraordinary things really do happen.”
The new hub combines our core pillars of Dukes L&D, namely Courses and Communities. With its intuitive search capabilities, navigating through our resources and courses is both efficient and user-friendly.
Through the Courses section, the Hub acts as our central portal for accessing, booking, and certificating training opportunities.
Tapping into the wealth of knowledge across our network, the Communities section of the new Hub leverages the expertise that we have across the Dukes Family. It enables collaboration through forums and allows communities to form and share ideas. Our nurseries, schools, colleges, and the Dukes Plus organisations can share best practices and collaborate beyond face-to-

face interactions. Through its library of assets, you can search for what you need as well as share your best materials with colleagues. It will therefore become, over time, the store of the best educational material and content across the group.

Coordinators & Collaborative Learning
Coordinators & Collaborative Learning
Dukes Community Coordinators
One of the core benefits to being part of the Dukes family is our ability to collaborate, share and learn from each other. This collaboration is driven and fostered by the Dukes Community Coordinators.
Community Coordinators bring the community together and facilitate innovation and learning, hosting meetings to share new thinking, establishing best practice, sharing ideas, and solving problems together. They also create, collate, and curate existing content for their subject area on the Dukes Hub community pages. For more information, please visit the individual community pages on the Dukes Hub.
Highlights from last year’s Community Coordinator Teach Meet events include:
English World Book Day Competition
To celebrate World Book Day, primary students entered a Dukes wide creative writing competition, organised by Lauren Carver Williams (Broomfield House), creating a recipe inspired by one of their favourite books. Winning applicants from each school visited Dukes House for a Dukes Bake Off, where their recipes and cakes were judged by our panel of experts, including Bake Off Professional Chef Ryan. The finalists’ recipes have been collated into our first ever Dukes recipe book and shared amongst the community.
Primary STEM at Eaton Square Prep
At the Dukes Primary Computing Community Spring TeachMeet, Computing teachers had a wonderful opportunity to visit Eaton Square Prep School and explore the school’s ‘Launchpad’. Unique in the UK, this fully interactive space allows learners to play, learn, and explore technology. Teachers engaged in various activities to explore the potential of various technologies and exploring the co-curricular applications, along side reviewing the digital citizenship and curriculum.
Secondary Science
Matthew (Hampton Court House) and Gareth (Cardiff Sixth Form College) organised a Secondary Science Teach Meet at Dukes House in the Spring term to target developing practical skills in science. They hosted a representative from DataHarvest to demonstrate how a range of digital datalogging equipment can be used in the classroom. After this, they looked at “Purposeful Practicals” where the Secondary Science community discussed why practical experiments are performed, what barriers are faced and how to make them more purposeful.
dates are subject to change if necessary.
Dukes Teach Meets
TeachMeets are a great opportunity to network, share ideas and to both provide and receive inspiration for good practice. The purpose of TeachMeets is to work together for better continued professional development and mutual support.
TeachMeets are mainly held online, allowing for a wider community to attend. However, sometimes the TeachMeets are face-to-face and are combined with bespoke training from external facilitators.
If your community has a coordinator, then they are responsible for organising the TeachMeet. If you don’t have a coordinator but are still keen to organise one, then please use the Dukes Hub Community Page as a starting point.
Collaborative Groups
Our collaborative groups provide thought leadership for Dukes on important topics. These groups focus on best practice in their area and then share this with the community. We have collaborative groups in the following areas currently:
Early Years Group (Rik McShane)

The Course Calendar
You can remove the printed course calendar for 2025/26 from its pocket and display it in common areas. It features all the key dates for upcoming courses. Ideal for quick checks and scheduling, this calendar ensures that everyone is aware of important training opportunities throughout the year.
The Dukes Learning Hub
The Dukes Hub is a space where we can come together, connect with one another and share our love of learning.
The Hub is created for our people by our people and is split into two main areas: namely courses and communities.

COMMUNITIES
Communities refers to how we connect and collaborate with one another. The new hub allows us to do this in two ways; through sharing and downloading resources and through forums where you can ask and answer questions of your colleagues and collaborate beyond the face to face.

COURSES
The Courses section gives you access to training opportunities where you will find a huge variety of courses, workshops, programmes, events, webinars and e-learning. These are designed to deepen your skills, gain confidence and competence in your role, and become a more effective professional.

There are also forums connected to each resource and each course on the hub allowing you to interact further with the community and your learning.
This is your community so please reach out if you have a question or something to suggest.
