Spring Term 2023

Clubs & Activities

Welcome

We are delighted to present our updated and refreshed clubs and activities list that highlight the breadth of extra curricular activities that will take place throughout the school next term. We will be offering a wealth of new and exciting clubs alongside some of the long established and ever popular clubs, squads and ensembles that we currently offer. These activities are run before, during and after school providing every pupil with ample opportunities to have fun, excel and thrive beyond the classroom.

We strongly encourage all pupils to take part in our programme of clubs and activities to develop a breadth of skills outside of the classroom and discover new interests. From next term, clubs and activities have been divided into four categories: sports, creative and performing arts, enrichment and community. Whilst perusing this booklet, we would encourage parents to select a variety of clubs and activities from the different categories in order for their child to broaden their opportunities and become rounded individuals. Every child from Form 1 and upwards is encouraged to engage in these clubs in order to make the very most of the opportunities available to learn outside of the classroom.

On the next page, there are key details on how to navigate this booklet, alongside key dates and details on how to sign pupils up to clubs. Places in the majority of after school clubs are limited and will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis in order of response to the clarion form. If you have any questions or queries then please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Key Information

Registering Interest

Places in the majority of after school clubs are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis in order of response to the clarion form which will be sent on Wednesday 23rd November at 2pm.

Children wishing to take part in a before school music ensemble or squad do not need to sign up on the clarion form as places are not limited. Regular attendance is expected, however. Children are welcome to alternate weekly between squads and ensembles if they occur on the same morning.

Pre-school Squads Information

Squads will take place at Rocks Lane, where the children have their games lessons. Squads will start at 7.30am and children will be walked back to school for lessons. Parents should drop children at the entrance to the Rocks Lane facility and should wait with their child until a member of staff arrives.

Children should wear PE kit, and it is imperative that all children have a rain coat with them. There will be a no coat-no squad policy. All items of uniform must be clearly named.

In the case of bad weather, parents will be sent a clarion message by 6.30am on the morning of the squad to advise that the squad is cancelled. If it starts to rain during the squad, children will be brought back to school early.

Swimming Squads

Further information about swimming squads will be sent to the parents of those children invited to join the squad.

Choirs and Orchestra Information

Choirs and orchestra will start at 8.00am and rehearsals will take place at St Michael and All Angels church hall. Parents will need to drop children off promptly at 8.00am and children will be walked back to school in time for their first lesson of the day.
