Maximum fuel efficiency is the key priority
OLYMPIC CHAMPION owned by ANEK LINES, was applied with Hempel’s 3rd generation silicone paint HEMPASIL in March 2010. HEMPASIL X3 was applied on the vessel’s flat bottom, a total area of 4713 square meters. The area was applied with the following system: 1 x F/C HEMPADUR QUATTRO 17634/50630 1 X F/C HEMPADUR QUATTRO 17634/22090 1 X F/C HEMPASIL NEXUS 27302/55001 1 X F/C HEMPASIL X3 87500/59151 HEMPASIL X3 is the third generation of our pioneering HEMPASIL fouling release technology. It is also Hempel’s most advanced yet, delivering unparalleled performance for unparalleled fuel efficiency. ANEK LINES, a traditional and very progressive shipping company and a valued customer of Hempel, decided to apply Hempel’s new silicone paint HEMPASIL X3 on their passenger vessel OLYMPIC CHAMPION, trading the waters between Greece and Italy. The decision was based on the fact that the product guarantees fuel savings and thereby ensures that ANEK LINES as an environmentally responsible company lowers the CO2 emission. OLYMPIC CHAMPION was in 2006 declared “The European Champion” on passenger/car ferries of Europe, by the German automobile club ADAC. Maximum fuel efficiency is Hempel’s key priority both with regard to controlling costs as well as taking care of the environment. The application process, which took place at Elefsina Shipyard in Greece, was handled very professionally by Hempel’s Frosio certified Coating Advisers.
