Rapper T.l.’s shorter-than-expected performance at the Cameron Rocks! concert Saturday night left many students dissatisfied and may prompt negotiations and possible legal acdon by the Duke University Union. Although Office of Student Activities and Facilities officials told DUU they gave T.L the full $70,000 compensation for his performance, DUU officials said Sunday that the headliner violated his contract by walking off stage after a 40minute performance. “We said that he had to play for at least 60 minutes,” said DUU President Katelyn

For nearly 12 months, the blogs have

tom apart the Duke lacrosse case from top

Former men’s lacrosse head coach Mike Pressler joined forces with Sports Illustrated’s Don Yaeger on a project and blogger KC Johnson is collaborating on a book with Stuart Taylor, a reporter and columnist for National Journal Magazine. “For a long time I have been outraged to

DUU officials said they were unsure about the actual exchange between OSAF and T.l.’s agents and were not present for the transfer ofmoney, but Maisel said she was surprised to discover that OSAF had already compensated the performer. “As far as OSAF is structured, that was what they were supposed to do,” Maisel said, “life' are trying to figure out how to' get legally reimbursed and what sort of recourse options we have. A lot of explanatory work will go about later this week.” The Chronicle was unable to reach members of OSAF and representatives for T.L for comment Sunday evening.. Council sees surge in Econ faculty by

Meg Bourdillon THE CHRONICLE

The Academic Council, the University’s primary forum for faculty governance, released Friday the results ofits recent elections, for which ballots were due March 20. Five members of the economics department are among those joining the council, which formerly included only one member with a secondary appointment in economics. “That [shift], I would say, is basically the only thing that’s pretty unusual,” said Paul Haagen, chair of the council and professor of law. Fifty-four of die 95 spots on the 2007-2008 council were open; die other 41 representatives were elected last year to two-year terms. Economics professors now make up half of the 10 representatives allotted to the social sciences and fill five of the six open slots in that division On the ballot sent to social sciences faculty— SEE ACAD.
