What SEIA’s New Solar 101 Program Offers Contractors

--------------------

On April 11th, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) introduced the SEIA Online Learning Center. This web platform acts as a comprehensive source of educational programming for solar companies and professionals. SEIA created the program in response to the demand for training a new wave of solar workers as the industry grows.

Part of the platform’s offerings includes a DEIJ certification program, as well as the new Solar 101 program. The latter is a resource that will prove tremendously useful to any individual entering or already part of the solar industry, and particularly, the businesses that employ them.

Solar 101’s Main Benefits

Course Diversity, Ease & Flexibility

The program is a collection of courses that are designed to meet the needs of today’s solar workforce. This includes a wide range of information on topics such as modern grid infrastructure, the most current technologies, policy developments, and market trends. Lessons are delivered in succinct 5–10-minute videos, maximizing comprehension and ease of learning.

SEIA CEO Abigail Ross Hopper emphasized the timeliness of this program given the nation’s workforce development needs: “The solar and storage workforce is not going to grow to one million Americans by 2030 on its own, so there was a clear need for SEIA to step up with tools to help companies address mounting workforce development challenges… Solar 101 will equip this generation of energy workers with the knowledge they need to grow the clean energy economy and capitalize on an unprecedented window of policy certainty.”

Solar 101 allows users to learn according to their specific needs, enabling them to skip topics they are already knowledgeable in if desired. Providing this non-linear learning structure makes the program a flexible resource for training solar professionals of all levels.

Scalability for Teams

SEIA has made it easy for companies of all sizes to afford and implement Solar 101 as part of their training program. Different pricing packages are available depending on team size and SEIA membership status. Individuals are also able to register for a relatively low fee.

Upon completion of the Solar 101 core courses, participants will receive a certificate as proof of their training. The certificate is personalized to provide an accurate record of the student, date, and associated company.

Learning the Best Way to Get Solar Leads

While Solar 101 does provide key context for understanding the solar market and customer demands, it does not cover marketing strategies or tools. This means that even those who have completed every course in the program may not be equipped to plan the successful generation and nurturing of solar leads.

Of course, providing separate marketing training for staff can be difficult to manage as a modest contracting business. That is why many small to medium-sized solar installers are instead investing in outsourcing as the best way to get solar leads.

Grid Freedom is the Premier Source of Solar Customers

Grid Freedom is currently the agency of choice, offering contractors the best balance of quality and affordability. The agency offers only exclusive solar leads to eliminate competition for their clients. Additionally, every lead is vetted through an intensive screening process that ends with the scheduling of the first contractor appointment.

This creates a pipeline of extremely viable leads, all of which are provided under the most pro-contractor terms: no contracts, no purchase minimums, no membership dues, and no other extra fees or commitments. Contractors are free to source according to their needs and budgets at any given time. The resulting arrangement is one that optimizes lead generation without necessitating big investments in marketing development. Find
