This Is Still A People Business
BY DON EMDE
For me, what makes the motorcycle industry so enjoyable is that after all these years, it’s still a people business. Day in and day out, it’s people with a passion for motorcycling who design and build the products that others with the same passion warehouse and ship to the dealers to sell to their customers, who are the end users. Every link in the chain is usually filled by enthusiastic people who themselves are riders.
One great example of what I am talking about is our story beginning on page 90 about the 2025 Indian Chieftain that was customized by Drag Specialties’ brand ambassador Carey Hart. He put 400 hours of work into the project, with a copy of the Indian catalog on the workbench for product selections.
Also, as you go through the issue, starting on page 78 you will learn more about one of our favorite industry members, Tom Motzko, head of vendor relations and business development at Drag Specialties. Tom is now in his 51st year at Drag, having joined the company in 1974 before Fred Fox bought it and made it part of LeMans Corporation. I can’t think of anyone who would be a better example of people with a motorcycling passion.
On page 18, you’ll also see a story about just one stop on the 2025 Drag Dealer Training Tour. This rolling tour connects Drag Specialties sales reps with vendors such as Alpinestars, Custom Dynamics, Klock Werks, Metzeler/Pirelli and Yuasa to put on programs to educate dealers around the country.
Our Drag Dealer Profile starting on page 38 features the whole crew at The Chapel Motorcycle Shop in Murray, Utah. It’s a family-owned and operated business, run by two brothers, Kolby Reber, Karl Baird and their mom, Colleen “Chapel Mom” Baird. They were all Harley riders first, until an opportunity arose in 2016 to buy an independent store when the owner was retiring. Motorcycling continues to define their lives. ■

Inaugural THRASHIN Open House – March 29, 2025
THRASHIN HEADQUARTERS: MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA
Story and Photos by Jake Webber/Lance Coury
We never imagined that our first official Open House would be as big as it was! More than 4,000 people came in from all over the world to come hang out with us for the day.
It has been a dream of THRASHIN founder, Lance Coury, to hold an event where we could invite our friends, family and customers to our headquarters to get a glimpse of what we do here at THRASHIN.
With the growth of our YouTube channel, we have filmed countless videos featuring our new facility. Many of our viewers have come to know our R&D room, all the local taco spots, and some of the iconic canyons and roads right in our backyard here in Southern California. The idea behind the Open House was to give them the opportunity to hang out with us, at our shop, and enjoy some tacos and really get the full THRASHIN experience.

To make the day even better, we invited some of our industry friends to join in on the fun. Feuling Parts set up in our R&D room where the crew worked on our 2018 Harley-Davidson Sport Glide. They installed a *(EMIS Code 3) 128ci Big Bore Kit, as well as a Feuling Parts *(EMIS Code 3) 538 Camshaft, M8 Cylinder Head Breathers, M8 HP+ Oiling System, M8 Softail *(EMIS Code 3) Vented Dipstick and an M8 *(EMIS Code 2) BA Air Cleaner.
In our back parking lot, the Eastcoastin Crew and Concrete Cowboys threw down with an insane stunt show! Wheelies, burnouts and drifting were going on all throughout the day. Of course, we made sure that there were authentic street tacos, burgers, and cold beverages.
As part of the Open House, THRASHER had the crew from Feuling Parts on hand to install some of the company's go-fast parts on a custom bike build.
plenty of smokey burnouts and eye-popping stunts thanks to the Eastcoastin Crew and Concrete Cowboys.
One of the most exciting things was giving away a 2025 Harley-Davidson Street Bob. We took a stock Street Bob and outfitted it with THRASHIN 6.5-inch OG pullback risers, high bend bars, carbon fiber gauge housing, P-54 foot controls, Softail brake arm, Escape saddlebags with hard mount brackets, and a new exhaust system. The winner of the bike
had to be at the event in person. The lucky winner was an active Navy Seabee who is stationed close to the THRASHIN headquarters, and he rode the bike home.
The day was insane, and we can’t thank everyone enough for showing up and displaying this amount of love and support. Get ready for next year; it’s going to be even better! ■
Attendees at THRASHIN's first-ever Open House enjoyed motorcycle shenanigans, live music and good food.
The THRASHIN team were looking to throw a party and the brand's fans were more than happy to oblige. More than 4,000 people from around the world stopped in to say "Hey!"

SEASON OPENER DAYTONA
BIKE WEEK’S TRENDS AND TRAFFIC
There’s nothing quite like Daytona Bike Week. Every year, it signals the end of winter and the start of the riding season. And, every year, Drag Specialties is on site, showing off its custom bikes and vendors.
Like last year, the 2025 Daytona Bike Week found Drag Specialties set up at Teddy Morse’s Harley-Davidson. There were 14 Drag vendors there to welcome riders, sell products and help get motorcycles and riders alike ready to go for the year ahead.
The Drag Specialties truck was on hand to show off bikes that were outfitted with parts from Drag vendors. FatBook cover bikes and vendor-built bikes were on display, too, giving attendees plenty of inspiration for what they could do with their own bikes.
The vendor area was bustling throughout Bike Week. “Most of the vendors said it was a really good year,” says Greg Matter, National Sales Manager for Drag Specialties. “We were selling a lot of windshields, a lot of lighting, and we had a good year for seats and suspension.”
Matter also reported that weekend attendance was especially robust, not just at Teddy Morse’s but at the many bike shows being held around town, too. “One of the days we left the
dealership and went to one of the bike shows, and traffic was backed up to get into the dealer,” Matter says. While clogged traffic would ordinarily be a negative thing, it’s a positive at Bike Week, showing just how popular the iconic rally still is.
And, among all those bikes on the roads around Daytona, Matter saw a lot of Harley-Davidson CVOs. Not only were plenty of people riding Harley’s fully kitted models, but they were buying even more parts to put on them.
“It’s kind of surprising because CVOs come loaded from Harley,” Matter says. “Those riders are accessorizing the bikes even though they come loaded from the factory, so there’s a lot of opportunity for dealers to sell them accessories, and it seems like they’re the ones who have the money to spend.”
That kind of trend is a good indicator for the types of items a dealer might want to have in stock this year. It might be easy to dismiss a CVO owner as a customer looking to upgrade, since the bike comes with so many upgrades to begin with. But, at Daytona, there were plenty of upsell opportunities. Matter reports that seats, lighting and suspension were especially popular with this segment of V-Twin owners.

That was especially good news for Drag vendors on the ground at Daytona. In the seat department, LePera Motorcycle Seats, Saddlemen and Wild Ass Seats were ready to give riders an immediate upgrade in comfort and style. Custom Dynamics had its array of high-tech LED lighting available, too, giving riders a boost in visibility, while Legends Suspension was on hand to give bikes improved rideability.
It wasn’t just CVO riders who were looking to upgrade at Daytona. Matter says more Softails are being accessorized, but they have a long way to go before they’ll surpass Baggers as the most popular customization platform.
“The Baggers are still what’s hot right now,” Matter says. “That used to be the old man’s bike, but now you see a lot of the younger riders on them, too. They seem to be doing the performance accessorizing: a lot of them come off sportbikes or offroad, and they’re used to having a bike that performs well and handles well. So, they focus on making the bikes handle better and run faster.”
That means younger Bagger riders are turning to performance products, like exhausts by Bassani Xhaust, Khrome Werks or
Vance & Hines. More power usually needs better brakes to go with it, and Lyndall had its racing brakes at the ready.
When it came to aesthetics, Klock Werks helped give Baggers a sleeker look with the company’s range of windscreens. PSR levers and Kodlin USA risers were other standouts when it came to style.
Smaller items were doing big business at Daytona, too. Figurati’s magnetic dip sticks were making a splash. For riders themselves, Arai was on hand with its full range of helmets, and SP Connect had phone mounts to help keep devices in reach.
Daytona Bike Week tends to set the tone for the riding season ahead, and this year’s rally indicates business as usual. “If Daytona is still the bellwether, then we’re expecting to have a decent year,” notes Matter. “We may not see any major gains, but we should at least hold steady or see some slight gains over last year.” ■
» Talk to your Drag rep about the Daytona trends and find all the products that were at Bike Week this year in the FatBook and OldBook. You can also find build sheets and pictures of the bikes on display by going to www.dragspecialties.com/bike-builds.

KING OF THE BAGGERS TAKES OFF WYMAN AIMS FOR DEFENDING CHAMPION HERFOSS
Nearly two months have passed since Kyle Wyman rode his Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Racing Road Glide to victory in both Mission King of the Baggers races at Daytona International Speedway. Those two months have probably felt like an eternity to anyone in the class not named Kyle Wyman.
With the long break from round one to round two almost over, the others are champing at the bit get another shot at Wyman and his Harley.
Wyman left Daytona with an immaculate two-for-two week at the Speedway. The 2021 Mission King of the Baggers Champion came out of Florida with a perfect 50 points and a 22-point lead on defending series champion Troy Herfoss. The series was headed to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for a long-awaited round two as of press time.
Wyman was the only one of the championship contenders who had a consistent weekend at Daytona. While he won both races, the others seemed to have one good race and one bad. Herfoss is the perfect example of that as he crashed while gaining ground on Wyman in race one and was fortunate to score a handful of points after remounting to finish eighth. The following day, Herfoss hounded Wyman at the “World Center of Racing,” to the bitter end, coming up just .056 of a second behind his rival.
Wyman’s new Harley factory teammate Bradley Smith was also up and down. Literally. Smith’s debut in the class surprised even the Brit as he ended up second to Wyman. The
following day, however, saw Smith crash. He was down but not out and remounted to gain six points for finishing 10th.
Herfoss’ S&S/Indian Motorcycle teammate Tyler O’Hara was the first of the big guns other than Wyman to turn in consistent finishes of sixth and fourth over the course of the two days. Privateer Kyle Ohnsorg left Daytona fifth in the championship with fourth- and seventh-place finishes on his TAB Performance Racing Indian Challenger.
What about the other big guns like class newcomer and the third of the factory S&S/Indian Motorcycle teamsters Loris Baz, RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson’s Hayden Gillim and Rocco Landers, and SDI Racing’s Baggers rookie Cameron Petersen? Landers ended up the best of that group, but was off the pace with his seventh- and fifth-place finishes. Still, that was better than his teammate Gillim who was scoreless in race one and sixth in race two.
Baz rebounded from a turn-one crash to put his Indian Challenger on the podium in race two, finishing close behind Wyman and Herfoss.
Petersen, meanwhile, was third in race one, but failed to score a point in race two. Saddlemen Race Development’s Jake Lewis finds himself seventh in the championship after Daytona with his fifth and eighth in the two races.
The second round of the seven-round, 14-race Mission King of the Baggers Championship was scheduled for May 2-4 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Brazelton, Georgia. ■

EXCLUSIVE TRAINING TOUR FOR DRAG DEALERS
FT. WORTH, TEXAS – MARCH 20, 2025
Alpinestars’ Colton Teahon demonstrates the company’s popular airbag vest system. For products like these, the Training Tour provides valuable hands-on education.
If knowledge is power, then the 2025 Drag Specialties Dealer Training Tour is a hard-charging mobile university for motorcycle dealers. The Product Tour hits major cities all over the country highlighting new accessories, offering sales insights and special event discounts and perhaps most importantly, facilitating the sort of connectivity between Drag Specialties Reps, distributing vendors and dealership personnel that’s a core reason we all love the community of motorcycling.
The Fort Worth Texas stop was the second of the 2025 tour and featured Alpinestars, Custom Dynamics, Klock Werks, Metzeler/Pirelli, and Yuasa inside the casual atmosphere of Lone Star Park, a horse-racing venue in the middle of the DFW Metroplex. Kicking off with dinner and refreshments, there was a chance to wind down after a day of work or travel before digging into insights and offers that are the hallmark of the events.
“We see an 80 percent return rate for dealers coming to the event,” says Drag Specialties sales rep Mike Merritt, who oversees 70 dealers in a radius that includes Louisiana and Oklahoma. “Coming out lets you put your hands on the
products and meet the brand reps to make a business connection. It gives dealers more credibility towards the sale,” Merritt says. “There are special discounts that are only for those who attend the event for a week following the event, basically you have to be present to win!”
Participating dealers have the chance to actually meet product reps and learn that they are only a phone call away to help close a sale or answer a question. Attending a stop on the Dealer Training Tour can help dealers get a leg up on their local market competition by getting in-depth product education from the participating vendors.
Lisa Bobo, the brand specialist from Klock Werks in Mitchell, South Dakota enjoyed returning to her native Texas for the tour. She put on a fast-paced presentation that hit on shifts in the Klock Werks products, new fitments and sizes, as well as emphasized the re-launch of the iO Phone Mount eco-system.
“Many Drag reps use the magnetic iO Mounts to seamlessly move from truck to motorcycle to desktop, so our dealers learn how efficient it is and tell their customers about it,” Bobo said.
Story and photos by Robert Pandya
One of the highlights of a Drag Specialties Dealer Training tour stop is the opportunity to check out the year's FatBook bike builds.
Bobo knows the importance of the Drag Training Tour and how it connects dealers with the Drag Specialties brands. She uses the dealer locator tech attached to the Klock Werks website to recruit dealers to attend the events. The up-close-and-personal approach is similar to those one-onone conversations that dealers can have inside a dealership.
For those dealers attending the Ft. Worth stop of the Training Tour, the evening held more than just classroom product education. There were also swag giveaways and event ordering specials to add a little spice to the evening. Attending dealers are always encouraged to take advantage of the specials – it’s all part of the goal of helping build confidence in a product line to increase sales to their over-the-counter customer.
Ben Woods a veteran parts specialist from Texarkana Harley-Davidson, made the 200-mile trek from the border to learn and increase sales. “Custom Dynamics and lighting are hot stuff, and the Metzler 888’s are some of my best selling tires.” Woods said, noting that he speaks from experience about the benefits of the program. “Last year we learned about Rekluse Clutches, and now we are a stocking dealer. We use them more than any other clutch pack.”
Devin Dykeman and Colton Reyna from Dream Machines of Texas were both first-time attendees and spoke of how their rep fired them up about the event. “I was curious about what was going to be here so I could sell it to our customers,” Dykeman said.
To this, Dykeman added, “A lot of times you have to look it up on the fly, so seeing people stand up here and speak to the product gives me a lot of confidence to pitch it to somebody (in the dealership).” The young attendees admitted the idea of coming to the event was at first a little intimidating. “This is a very relaxed environment and a great place to learn” Reyna said.
Clearly both dealer and vendors enjoyed the various presentations by participating brands and the attending Drag Specialties reps. The evening closed with a walk to the awaiting Drag Specialties semi-truck, where the latest fleet of FatBook/OldBook-built customs were on hand to showcase many of the same products they’d just learned about.
It was clear that the community of motorcycling only gets stronger when the Drag Specialties Dealer Training Tour comes to town. As the evening wore down, the now-familiar group of dealers, vendors and sales reps circled around the motorcycles to talk business, ideas, and bringing the best of motorcycling back to their dealerships and customers. ■

THROW-BACK STYLE, MODERN UPGRADES FOR 2004 SOFTAIL
Drag Specialties’ Dealer Training Tour continues its cross-country trek for 2025. As in past years, the Tour travels to designated sales regions so that local dealers can participate. The annual road show is intended to educate dealers and their personnel about new products that are featured in the most recent FatBook and OldBook.
There’s a twist to the Tour this year; something slightly different awaits Drag Specialties dealers at this year’s road show. The goal is to inspire and educate Drag Specialties dealers on how to revive pre-owned Harleys, doing so using any of Drag’s range of thousands of custom aftermarket parts.
The re-conditioned donor bike featured here is a perfect example of what can be done using a handful of custom aftermarket parts, mixed with a lot of creative thinking. By now trained and experienced eyes have tagged this as a FLSTC Softail Classic of 2004 vintage. The bike itself was barely 20 years old when it received its second lease on life, courtesy of Joe Houpt and the crew at Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson in Thiensville, Wisconsin. Here’s how they led this aging Softail
to drink from the “V-Twin Fountain of Youth,” what could otherwise be known as the FatBook (with a little help from the OldBook).
Most Drag dealers are familiar with Houpt and Suburban Motors from the many project and catalog cover bikes they’ve provided Drag Specialties through the years, so we’ll skip the formalities, and pass the mic to Joe who can fill us in on the bike’s re-do.
“This Harley had a little more than 62,000 miles showing on its odometer. The Softail’s Twin Cam engine was in running condition, showing no mechanical problems. It was much like many older Harleys you might find in owners’ garages all over the country,” related Houpt. “Generally, these are bikes boasting low or average mileage, no crash damage, and, overall, in good condition.” Joe added that this particular Heritage Softail, “was the perfect bike for a mild bolt-on custom.”
Now let’s take a closer look at what went into creating this bolt-on custom, starting with that cool, classic springer front fork. Drag offers a variety of these handsome front ends for
V-Twin models, and in this case Houpt and crew selected one that’s finished in black. No doubt, the springer suits the bike’s stance quite well. The bike features Drag Specialties 19-inch black laced wheel wrapped with a Dunlop American Elite 100/90-19” tire that teams with the Drag Specialties 16-inch black laced rear wheel and matching Dunlop American Elite.
That front end also includes Drag Specialties 1-inch Dragster wide black handlebars that are mounted to a Biltwell 1¾-inch Slimline black riser kit fitted with Drag Specialties’ handlebar plugs, a must for throttle-by-wire handlebars. Custom Dynamics added some color, too, starting with the 7.5-inch black headlight bucket and Micro Bullet V2 LED amber/red turn signals, plus various other additions such as the Headwinds’ black headlight mounting block and a Klock Werks’ ignition switch mount.
The springer fork conversion necessitated various other additions, foremost being the disc brake. The quick fix included GMA’s two-piston front brake classic clear caliper for springers, matched with a Performance Machine four-piston
Joe Houpt and the Suburban Motors crew gave this 2004 Softail a stripped-down makeover. The motor got the allblack treatment with Covington Customs’ dimpled black rocker box covers and cam cover, and Drag’s pushrod tube kit.
It’s the details that count and parts like the Drag Specialties solo seat, Saddlemen swingarm and Cruis’n tool bags pair nicely with the classic springer front fork.
chrome rear brake caliper, and Galfer Wave full-floating front and rear rotors. The rear disc brake was matched with PM’s Black Ops radial brake master cylinder.
Suburban’s crew also added Legend Suspensions’ AIR-ST rear for Softails. The resulting smooth and controlled ride helped pave the way for the Drag Specialties Torsion black solo seat springs to support the stylish Drag Specialties large spring solo black solo seat with white stitching, a combination that certainly emphasizes this Harley’s Bobber styling cues. Also helping to finish out the bike’s rear quarters you’ll find the Accutronix side mount black license plate assembly and Custom Dynamics’ all-in-one black license plate frame.
The classic Twin Cam engine showed no need to be torn down for repair, so the rebuild budget allowed for a few more popular bolt-on modifications. We can start with Cobra’s *(EMIS Code 3) RPT air intake black kit that, in terms of styling, is a perfect match for the Joker Machine black gas cap. For sound and style, our featured Softail wears an old-school Paughco 1¾-inch side-by -side upswept *(EMIS Code 3) fishtail exhaust.
Top: That rear shot really howcases the Paughco *(EMIS Code 3) side-by-side upswept fishtail exhaust.
Bottom: Dunlop American Elite tires pair nicely with the Drag Specialties spoked wheels.
Even though the engine showed little need for attention, Houpt and his team gave the motor a fair share of upgrades. Covington Customs’ dimpled black cam cover and dimpled black rocker top covers dressed up the Twin Cam nicely. They were joined by Drag Specialties’ black push rod tubes, while Joker Machine’s primary inspection cover complements Covington Customs’ dimpled black derby cover.
Additional bolt-ons that helped revive this older Harley include Drag’s 2½-inch mini horn, and Dakota Digital’s 50000 Series classic black digital speedometer on a Klock Werks magnetized mount. Last but not least, and always mindful that roadside repairs are sometimes part of the ride, the crew at Suburban included a Saddlemen Medium Cruis’n Tool Bag (tools optional!) just in case.
Dealers looking to increase sales of pre-owned bikes might want to give an aging Harley such as this 2004 Heritage Softail a long and strong look. Swapping out a few select components and bolt-on parts can often prove to be the difference between a profitable sale and a no-sale.
Dealers can learn more when Drag Specialties’ 2025 Dealer Training Tour appears in your area. It’s a good way for dealers to put Drag’s motto, “From Our Garage to Yours” into practice. ■

Saddlemen’s RoadSofa showcases the company’s dedication to blending both comfort and custom looks. The seat is designed for Touring bikes and features premium comfort for both the driver and passenger. It’s now available in a range of stitch patterns, styles and thread colors.
From paint jobs to performance mods, motorcycles have always been a great way to show off our unique tastes and riding styles. A stock Harley-Davidson is just the start, and adding custom touches is what gives a bike character. Saddlemen knows riders want to make their ride their own, which is why the company has an extensive selection of seat styles, stitch designs and even thread colors.
The popular RoadSofa is a great example of Saddlemen’s dedication to blending both comfort and custom looks. The seat is designed for Touring bikes, and it’s made to go the distance. Premium comfort for both the driver and passenger includes tall lumbar support and a wide seating area for the driver, plus a streamlined nose that makes it easy to reach the ground.
The RoadSofa comes in two options, including the Standard Reach RoadSofa for riders under six feet tall and the Extended Reach RoadSofa for riders over that height.
But the choices hardly stop there.
“We’re finding that people are wanting to individualize their bike more and more,” says Saddlemen’s David Echert. “So, we’ve come out with a line of RoadSofas that have a variety of different stitch patterns, styles and thread colors.”
The Lattice, Honeycomb and Scallop stitches are all available stock options for the RoadSofa. Many different stitch colors are available for the RoadSofa, too. Red tends to be a popular choice among Touring riders, and Saddlemen was careful to match the options to OEM colors.
In addition to the stitch style and thread color, there are also style choices to make. Customers can opt for the Tri-Gripper version of the RoadSofa, which has an insert made from a grippier material that’s popular with stunt riders for the extra control it offers. The Tuck-and-Roll is another style available, and it comes with either plain or carbon panels. Other in-stock RoadSofa styles include the Black Series, Carbon Fiber and Pillowtop.
In all, there is a wide range of styles, stitches and thread colors already in stock and ready to ship. For riders who are even more particular about the looks of a seat, they can turn to Saddlemen’s Custom Seat Program.
The program makes it easy for dealers to offer their customers a truly unique seat. The dealer simply chooses the form for the seat style being customized, fills it out according to the customer’s wishes and submits it to Drag Specialties like any other order. Once Saddlemen builds the seat, it is shipped directly to the dealer.
SEATS DESIGNED FOR MILES & STYLE
The RoadSofa features Saddlemen’s well-known supreme comfort, which makes it a great option for those eating up hundreds of miles a day. And check out that red stitching on the Honeycomb pattern RoadSofa with backrest – style and comfort.
Saddlemen seats aren’t just about looks, though. Comfort has always been at the heart of Saddlemen’s seat designs and technology. As a Touring seat made for riders who are in the saddle for as much as 500 miles in a single day, the RoadSofa has to be incredibly comfortable.
One of the things that makes this seat ideal for long-haul rides is the foam. “The foam is a softer density foam, so it gives you a more comfortable ride,” Echert says. “For example, our StepUp seat uses a firmer foam, so when you’re on it and stunting, you can steer the bike. You don’t want to use that same foam in a RoadSofa.”
While foam densities may differ among Saddlemen seats, one thing that is found in every seat style is the company’s proprietary Gelcore Technology. Formulated and manufactured in-house, Gelcore Technology is engineered to dampen, divert and deflect energy from the road.
“Saddlemen pioneered Gelcore, and it’s constantly being improved,” Echert explains. “It deflects road shock and evens out engine vibration.”
Another design feature that adds to the comfort of the RoadSofa is the split cushion. At a glance, separating the lumbar
and seating area seems like a simple design choice. Ultimately, though, it can make a big difference in how a seat feels, and it can reduce the numbing effect that some seats produce.
“The RoadSofa has a split cushion, so you aren’t pulling the material from the lumbar area into the seating area,” Echert explains. “That allows the rider to nest down into the gel and get all the attributes from the gel and the foam.”
In addition to the RoadSofa itself, there are also a lot of options for the accessories that pair well with it. Saddlebag lid covers, Tour-Pak pads and sissybar pads are all offered in an array of stitch styles and colors, as well.
Whether a rider chooses a RoadSofa or another performanceminded Saddlemen seat, such as the Touring, Step-Up or Slim, they can be confident they’re getting quality, comfort and a custom look for their V-Twin. Plus, all Saddlemen seats are proudly made in the U.S.A. ■

Saddlemen’s popular stitch patterns are all available as stock option for the RoadSofa. Those stitch patterns are also available in a range of different color thread so your customers can match their seats to their bike’s color schemes.

Refining the Rider’s Perspective Front and Center
There are a lot of areas to customize on your customers’ Harley-Davidsons. The engine, exhaust, and suspension are top candidates, but tailoring the bike’s cockpit and controls so they fit the rider and suit their style is one of the best ways to improve a bike. With THRASHIN Supply’s extensive selection of American-made triple trees, gauge-relocation kits, rises, and handlebars, your customers can customize their 2014-and-up Road Glides and other Touring models to match their preferences.
The foundation of the cockpit is the triple tree, and THRASHIN has engineered some pretty trick replacement parts for the Road Glides. For 2014 through 2023 FLHs, THRASHIN has top and bottom triple trees that are fully machined from aluminum for maximum strength and visual appeal.
THRASHIN’s top tree also offers some adjustability for fine tuning the reach to the controls.
“Our innovative top tree has two locations for the risers,” explains THRASHIN owner Lance Coury. “The stock location, plus a set of holes 1.35 inches closer to the rider.” To keep the top tree streamlined, it has a concealed lock under a spring-loaded door. The bottom triple is robust and maximizes fork rigidity by providing increased clamping area and more pinch bolts.
Nine months in the making, THRASHIN has new top and bottom triple trees for the 2024-2025 Road Glide. They offer the same style, stiffness and riser-mounting locations as the triple tree setup for the older models, but with a few added features based on customer feedback.
“People said they wanted to use the stock lock and key with the top triple” explains Lance, “so with that in mind we were careful to design the top triple to accept the factory ignition switch and retain the steering lock.”
The problem with the stock ignition is that it’s kind of ugly. “So we went ahead and designed a carbon fiber ignition cover to finish things off,” says Lance. Sold separately, the cover is available in conventional twill or forged carbon fiber. “It’s real carbon, looks super good, and covers the lock nicely,” says Lance.
A set of THRASHIN’s risers are the perfect complement to the billet top tree and really help dial in a bike’s fit. Available in 6-inch and 8-inch straight options and 6.5-inch and 9.5-inch pullback designs, THRASHIN’s bar risers work with any standard 1-inch handlebar and fit
Handlebars have been part of THRASHIN's product lineup since the beginning. The company's Low Bend, Mid Bend and High Bend bars offer your customers a number of ergonomic options.

all models with a 3.5-inch center-on-center bolt spacing. That includes the majority of Harley models dating back to the late 1980s.
Harley’s choice of gauge placement doesn’t work for everyone, so THRASHIN’ came up with a clever Gauge Relocation Kit for the 2022-2025 Lowrider S, 2025 Lowrider ST, and 2025 Street Bob single-gauge setups, as well as the 2014-2023 Road Glide double-gauges. Single gauge or dual gauges, both arrangements get slotted into a real carbon-fiber cup and capped with a machinedaluminum bezel or face plate in black or chrome. These parts secure the OEM gauge(s) and work with a variety of mounting brackets to position the gauge at nearly any angle above or below the top clamp.
“The bracket mounts to the back of the top clamp,” says Lance, “and you can flip it to give you some rise or a little drop depending on how you want the gauge angled. We also have an extension so you can raise the gauge higher or make it farther away. Both brackets pivot so you have a lot of adjustment.” With the gauges ideally situated the cockpit not only looks better, it becomes easier to check your speed and fuel level and other data.
Handlebars were one of THRASHIN’s original products when the company opened up shop back in 2014, and that’s because few items are as important for rider comfort — and as visible to the rider when they’re in the saddle — as the handlebar. THRASHIN’s 1-inch bars are a popular choice for riders looking to alter the grip position to suit their height, posture and arm length.
THRASHIN has the Low Bend, Mid Bend, and High Bend Bars in glossy triple-plated chrome or a lustrous black powder coat (with some models available in raw stainless steel). With three options to choose from, you customers are sure to find the right rise and backsweep. The bars’ dimensions were chosen by the THRASHIN crew based on the years and tens of thousands of miles of riding, and the layouts are proven winners. ■
THRASHIN's Gauge Relocation Kit comes in doublegauge and single-gauge setups.
When customizing a Harley-Davidson's cockpit, your customers can start with THRASHIN's triple tree. It provides maximum strength and offers adjustability for fine-tuning reach.
» Getting a bike dialed in to fit the rider is an excellent way to improve comfort and control, and with THRASHIN’s parts, you get a serious dose of style, too. All of THRASHIN’s components are proudly made in America — it’s engraved for all to see on every part — and in stock with Drag Specialties. These parts and the rest of the THRASHIN lineup can be found in the FatBook or at www.dragspecialties.com. Call your Drag Specialties sales rep with questions or to place an order.
Drag Specialties Dealer:
THE CHAPEL MOTORCYCLE SHOP: MURRAY, UTAH THE V-TWIN FAITHFUL SERVING
Family-owned and operated by brothers Kolby Reber, Karl Baird and their mom, Colleen “Chapel Mom” Baird, The Chapel Motorcycle Shop in Murray, Utah, is an independent, full-service provider that considers motorcycles their religion. Not only does the Drag Specialties dealer do everything from motorcycle service to performance to painted perfection, it also runs an embroidery and printing shop called Chapel Customs.
Kolby and Karl were born 10 years apart (minus one day), yet despite that age difference both spent their formative years together slicing through the canyons and desert terrain of northern Utah atop their dirtbikes.
A family of two-wheel enthusiasts guaranteed motorcycling was in their blood. “We always rode motorcycles,” Karl says. “It goes back to grandpa George – he always had a motorcycle –and our uncle Barney, who was in the dirt-bike scene. So, we spent every weekend riding in the mountains.
The Chapel crew, from left: Kolby Reber, Colleen "Chapel Mom" Baird, Karmo the Shop Dog, Prentiss Knight, Daniel Brems, Karl Baird, Maddy Hensler, Charlie Price, Joselin Sanchez, Milo Mangel, Art Rautenberg, and Robin "Soon to be Baird" Nielsen.
“Around 2010 is when we started riding Harley-Davidsons. Kolby had a 2000 Dyna Convertible, and I bought a 2005 Softail Springer the day after riding Kolby’s Harley. It was game-over from that point – we’ve been 100 percent Harley ever since.”
The switch to riding Harley-Davidsons ushered in a new way of life for the brothers. They spent the next few years ensconced in the V-Twin community, riding and forming tight bonds with a crew of pals. While both brothers were at the time gainfully employed – Kolby in graphic design and Karl in construction consulting – both also agreed that, as motorcycle enthusiasts, they wanted more out of life than simply collecting a paycheck.
“We had a good mechanic, but he was retiring and the dealer wasn’t delivering on customer service or work, so we were all having conversations about what we were going to do,” Karl explains. “That’s when the foundations for The Chapel Motorcycle Shop were being designed.”
Kolby and Karl launched The Chapel Motorcycle Shop in the Fall of 2015 with investment aid from mom Colleen and her husband, Dee Baird (who passed away in 2018). Drag Specialties has been with them since the beginning. Kolby developed a logo, and the brothers – working out of Karl’s home – created a collection of The Chapel branded merchandise that they would hawk at bars and events in an effort to market their up-and-coming brand and business. Service was done in the garage and driveway.
“Finally, we acquired a shop in June of 2016,” Karl says. “An existing shop called Viking V-Twin wanted to retire, so we bought his operation.”
Servicing motorcycles was always at the core of the business, but the newly acquired space also allowed the brothers to expand their merchandising business. “Having that space spurred us into getting into embroidery and creating all of our own clothes and doing all of our branding in-house,” Karl says. “So, we became the first motorcycle shop in the Intermountain West to have its own in-house embroidery that then expanded into laser engraving, printing, sewing patches … everything we were subbing out apparel-wise we then brought in-house.”
The business quickly grew. What was initially a 3,500 square foot building with four lifts became a 14,000 square foot facility featuring 19 lifts, three tire machines, a Dynojet 250i dynamometer, a fabrication room, and a 7,000 square foot section dedicated to The Chapel Customs embroidery, apparel & signage business.
“While we’re now sitting at 14,000 square feet, it appears as if we’re a really small mom-and-pop shop when you walk in,” Karl says. “If you walk through the front door, you immediately see the showroom that’s very clean, classy and bright, and a lounge off to the side with black leather furniture that serves as a comfy little spot for customers to wait or just hang out.”
Drag Specialties dealer The Chapel is a full-service, family-owned independent shop in Murray, Utah.
The service department at The Chapel is built for business. The facility features 19 lifts, three tire machines, a dyno and a fabrication room.
V-TWIN ONLY
The Chapel first launched by servicing both American V-Twin and metric bikes, but the dealership since transitioned to American V-Twin only.
“Viking V-Twin was strictly Twin-Cam and Evos, and when we came in we introduced the Metric cruiser to our business model,” Karl explains. “Today, we’re at about 90 percent Harley-Davidson and the occasional other American V-Twin brand. But, of that Harley line-up, it’s mostly Twin-Cam and M8 applications with the occasional Evo. We sub everything else to our allies. We have a really, really good network with the other independent shops in our market.”
“It’s been really beneficial having good relationships with our neighboring shops, but it also took some breaking through,” Kolby says. “Even though we knew some of the other shops when we started, and said we would be sending various projects to them, there was initially a lot of hesitation. But once we stuck by our word, there has been a lot of reciprocation.”
“We work hard on those relationships,” Karl adds. “So, if someone comes in with a bike we don’t normally work on, we’ll tell them that but then also tell them who we’d trust to take it to. For instance, just last weekend, we went to the Union Moto Show (a new show in Salt Lake City) and our goal was to attend in an effort to talk to the other leaders in our market to make sure we were all on good terms and then immediately start planning for co-events.”
Is there something The Chapel specializes in – something they’re known for that keeps the customers coming back?
“Our honesty,” says mom Colleen “Chapel Mom” Baird, who serves as shop ambassador, while also heading up the bookkeeping and HR departments. As well, she assists Robin Nielsen (Karl’s fiancé) who serves as the company’s general
manager, overseeing the shop’s schedule, purchasing and daily operations.
“We’re not after a quick buck here, and I think the customers can sense that honesty and integrity,” Karl says. “We 100 percent strive for long-term relationships with our customers.”
While The Chapel has a marketing budget, their team says that word-of-mouth recommendations by loyal customers are by far the most cost-effective strategy in garnering more customers. The strategy also includes online outreach via platforms like Facebook and Instagram, as well as plans for an upcoming YouTube channel expected to go live in the latter half of the second quarter. A 4.9-star Google rating doesn’t hurt, either.
Counting both inbound and outbound bikes, The Chapel has an average of about 75 bikes in for service or performance work. The characteristics of the work changes with the seasons. From October through March, the majority of work is on performance customization projects; from March through September the work sways more towards servicing bikes.
“Most of our performance work started out as maintenance,” Karl says. “While we don’t allow customers to watch us work, we pride ourselves on transparency, and the customers really appreciate it when we call them in and allow them to see what failed, hear us explain what failed, and then propose the best solution on how to resolve the situation.”
“And that’s that long-term, ongoing relationship we try to promote,” Kolby adds.
BUILDING A COMMUNITY
The Chapel has 13 employees – eight on the front-end and tech side, five on the custom embroidery, apparel & marketing side. Additionally, they work with a variety of subcontractors like welders and painters.
“Even with paint, everyone has their specialty, so who we utilize depends on whether the customer wants pin-striping, paneling, realistic airbrush, cartoon style, etc.,” Kolby says. “We always make sure to send the right job to the right person.”
While The Chapel team is keen on customer outreach, they don’t typically attend events with a booth or display. The biggest event they have on their calendar in 2025 will be their 10th anniversary celebration of the company on September 6. Permits have been acquired, and plans call for the street to be blocked off for vendor space, food trucks and other festivities.
“Regarding events, another thing we started a few years ago is called The Event Hub,” Karl says. “We teamed up with Law Tigers – so it’s now called The Law Tigers Event Hub – but it lives on our website and is a community calendar based on

events in the Intermountain West [region]. Previously, you had to go to 20 different websites to see which events were happening, but now most of the shops in the community upload their events onto our site, which is a free service that’s mobile-friendly.”
The Chapel team says that Drag Specialties has been The Chapel’s go-to supplier since the shop’s founding 10 years ago.
“Drag Specialties has always had the biggest selection of replacement parts, so they’ve always been our best resource,” Kolby says. “Without them, we would have never been able to fully do our jobs. What they do for the community is also important. They’re the ones sponsoring these new events like the Bagger Racing League races that stir an interest with the younger market.”
“Also, Craig (Drag Specialties sales representative Craig Crozier) is a key player for us as an independent,” Karl adds. “He’s been with Drag nine or 10 years – as long as we’ve been around – and so has been a constant with us. He’s literally on speed-dial, he texts with us, he checks in weekly to bi-weekly, he takes care of warranty claims, he pushes promos that would make sense for us, and he goes to bat for us by pulling weight if needed. He’s by far the most consistent rep we have, and by far the favorite rep we have.”
“It has been truly inspiring to watch the team at The Chapel grow over the past decade into the incredibly successful business they are today,” says Drag Specialties’ Crozier. “They’ve done an exceptional job connecting with the local community, not only building a strong customer base but also fostering great relationships
with other dealers across the state. Their dedication to collaboration and creating lasting partnerships is an undeniable part of their business focus, and their efforts have certainly shown that over the years.
“The opportunity to support their growth has been incredibly fulfilling.” ■
The Chapel Customs is the dealership's custom embroidery shop where it not only produces its branded clothing and gear in-house, but also provides custom printing, laser engraving, sewing and embroidery as a service.
Service work is a staple at The Chapel and includes performance upgrades. The shop’s in-house dyno stays busy all year long.
AA Superior 6-Speed
Smooth, Precise and Strong!
dding horsepower, riding aggressively, or just stacking major miles on the odometer is a surefire way to reveal an engine’s weak link. It’s inevitable that when you start stressing parts with more torque or run them long enough, something is going to break. So whether your customers have already experienced a transmission failure on their Harley-Davidson Twin Cam or Milwaukee-Eight, or they’re building a high-performance engine and want to ensure it’s bulletproof, the new Fat 6 transmission from JIMS is the way to go.
The JIMS Fat 6 transmission is years in the making, and carries on the tradition of the popular and revolutionary Fat 5 gearset as a rock solid, bolt-in performance replacement for the stock Harley transmission.
Using in-house designed, ultra-narrow Quick Shift shift-ring technology, the Fat 6 gears are up to 53percent wider than stock for a massive increase in torque capacity. Third gear might be a ticking time bomb in the stock six-speed, but every ratio in the Fat 6 is built to handle maximum loads. In fact, this new transmission has been proven to handle up to 550 foot-pounds of torque!
These transmissions are made from scratch in Camarillo, California, and the gears are cut from certified 9310 aerospace-quality steel. This low alloy, nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel is known for its high core strength, toughness, hardenability, and high fatigue strength, making it ideal for transmission gears. Compared to the stock helical-cut gears, the straight-cut cogs in the Fat 6 don’t produce axial loads, improving efficiency and eliminating the lateral forces that can wear bearings, shift dogs, and gear pockets.
Speaking of dogs and gear pockets, they’re back cut on the Fat 6, ensuring the sets stay fully engaged under load and won’t pop out of gear. This race-derived technology requires more machining and precision, but it’s one of the key features that makes the Fat 6 stand up to huge torque and hard use, rather than leaving a pile of gear teeth in the bottom of the transmission case. JIMS utilizes an in-house dyno to prove its parts, and the Fat 6’s strength and reliability have also been confirmed by an independent lab specializing in durability analysis.
The new Fat 6 has also been tested on the street by numerous professionals, including Hiro Koiso,
Twenty-five-time FIM and AMA National land-speed record holder and certified Harley tech Hiro Koiso was one of the first professionals to ride the Fat 6 and gave it high marks.
JIMS debuted the Fat 6 transmission at the Louisville NVP Product Expo in January to big interest from dealers and sales reps.
land-speed record holder and certified Harley tech, as well as Kevin Baxter, owner of Pro Twin Performance in Lyles, Tennessee, and host of the popular “Baxter’s Garage” YouTube show. With tens of thousands of miles of experience — including at 260.804 mph for Koiso! — these guys know their way through the gears.
“I grew up near Tokyo,” says Koiso, “and always rode Harleys aggressively, to the point that I wore holes in my mufflers.” Koiso was riding the same way when he tested the Fat 6 in the canyons of Malibu, and had nothing but good things to say about how the transmission speed shifted. “I was clutchless upshifting, and rev-matching on downshifts, sometimes even from 5th to 3rd from high rpm, and the Fat 6 was precise and smooth. If you’ve been working on Harleys long enough you know 3rd gear is suspect — it’s nice to know the Fat 6 fixes that.”
For Baxter, what impressed him most was the transmission’s smoothness and great ratios. “I’ve been anticipating this transmission for 5 years, so it was great to finally experience it,” says Baxter. “I rode in the canyons, on the highway, and in city traffic, and did lots of repeated hard launches, and the Fat 6 never skipped a beat. For those hard launches, the new close-ratio 1st isn’t too deep, and the rest of the ratios are balanced and should be suitable for performance engines, touring, racing, and stock engines.”
The Fat 6’s success is hard won. As Baxter points out, JIMS has been perfecting this new gearset for years. It’s not just optimized for strength, it has also been designed to provide smoother, more consistent shifting. Working with the quick and quiet Quick Shift rings, a lightened, one-piece, steel Slick Track shift drum yields rapid and quiet shifts, with less

of the annoying clunk common with the stock transmission. The gear teeth are ground to a precise mating profile, resulting in a smooth ride with zero gear whine.
To suit a wide range of applications, from normal street use to racing, JIMS raised first gear a bit to reduce the gap between 1st and 2nd, but left the rest of the gearbox close to stock, with 6th remaining 1:1. The shafts are supported by a 6061 billet-aluminum big-bearing trap door that reduces flex by supporting the transmission shaft with a larger bearing in a reinforced casing. Custom caged Fat Gear needle bearings are also used to support the gears.

This bolt-in transmission is compatible with the stock gear selector and requires no modifications to the case or exhaust mount, making it an easy upgrade. Backed by a 2-year warranty against manufacturers’ defects, the JIMS Fat 6 transmission checks the boxes for strength, reliability, precise shifting, quiet running, and ease of installation.
From humble beginnings in 1967, JIMS has grown into a V-Twin industry icon. Producing performance parts, accessories, tools, transmissions, and complete highoutput engines, JIMS is a go-to brand for enhancing your customers’ Harleys.
Company founder Jim Thiessen originally worked as a machinist in the aerospace industry, but his passion for two wheels found him fully committing to the V-Twin market. Starting with just a few manual mills and lathes, JIMS now occupies several buildings totaling 50,000 square feet, with a full array of state-of-the-art CNC equipment. JIMS has also invested heavily in measuring apparatus and test equipment to ensure all parts meet the company’s strict quality standards.
JIMS consists of a lean team of dedicated, skilled employees, including many of Thiessen’s own family. The company is involved in many forms of racing, sponsoring some of the fastest Harleys on the planet including participants of the AHDRA and record holders in the BUB Speed Trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The research and development team is always searching for more horsepower, more reliable parts, tools, and new components not yet available to the market. Throughout it all, JIMS remains committed to manufacturing as much as it can in house in California, which, in turn, guarantees the best American quality available.
In the quest to improve their Twin Cam and MilwaukeeEight Harleys, your customers may uncover some weaknesses in their engines. Installing JIMS new Fat 6 gearset ensures the transmission won’t be the culprit. No matter what they’re using their bikes for or how much power it’s making, the Fat 6 sets a higher standard for smoothness and durability. ■

Tailored Tanks
Gas Tanks Ready for Custom Builds
The gas tank on a custom motorcycle is one of those necessary pieces that can make or break the look of a bike. The right gas tank blends perfectly with the lines of the bike, enhancing the aesthetic a builder is going for, whether it’s sleek, aggressive, vintage or some other style.
Drag Specialties has a full range of custom fuel tanks and associated hardware, making it easy for custom builders to get that exact right look for any project. One of those projects is this 2024/2025 OldBook cover bike. The 1999 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fatboy customized by EDZ Motorcycle Service & Repair features a Fat Bob style flat side gas tank by Drag Specialties.
Gas tanks, mounting hardware and other components, like gas caps and petcocks, can all be found in both the FatBook and OldBook. So, whether a builder is using an older bike as the platform for a custom or going for something more modern, Drag Specialties has a tank to fit it.
All of the custom gas tanks from Drag come with a raw finish that is ready to be prepped and painted. Styles like the Mustang gas tank have a classic Fat Bob style, while the 2-inch extended gas tanks – available in both one-piece and twopiece designs – provide a long, low look. Builders who want a real vintage vibe can opt for a wrap-style gas tank.
“Since the very early days of Drag Specialties, we have offered a great selection of fuel tanks, which of course provides our dealers with many choices for their customers,” says Drag’s Tom Motzko. “Not to mention we’ve been working with the same gas tank suppliers for decades, ensuring continued quality.”
No matter which tank design a builder chooses, they can add it to their custom creation with confidence, knowing it will have a smooth finish, quality craftsmanship throughout and easy functionality.
Choosing the right gas tank is only one step in the process. Drag Specialties also has a full range of mounting kits, including kits for flat side tanks and bolt kits that replace the stock ones with chrome pieces for that extra attention to detail.
There are a lot of Drag Specialties gas caps to choose from, as well. Pop-up gas caps provide a clean, nearly flush fit against the tank when closed. There are locking gas caps that come with keys, as well as original-style gas caps that make great OEM replacements. Proving that even the smallest items on a bike can get custom treatment, Drag also has gas cap designs like the split skull or the “Live to Ride” cap. ■

Building Customs with a Trusted Tire
Custom bike builders can do a lot themselves, with one big exception: tires. The team at Bourget’s Bike Works makes about 90 percent of each custom V-Twin in-house, and owner Brigitte Bring counts on Avon Tyres to get those customs down the road.
Since the beginning, Bourget’s Bike Works has preferred Avon Tyres. In addition to offering a quality product, Avon had another thing in its favor: size. When Avon introduced a 230 tire, it allowed Brigitte to step up from the 190s.
“We actually did some bikes with car tires before the 230 came out, but they were hard to ride,” Brigitte says. But, once Avon started going big, her custom bikes got a lot easier to ride. “Avon came out with the 230, then that evolved to the 240, 250 and then 300. The race was on for the widest tire and the biggest backend.”
And that was one race Brigitte wanted to win with her custom bikes. In 2004, she commissioned Avon to produce a run of 330 rear tires. “I had to buy 3,000 of them!” Brigitte recalls. “My product line transitioned to anything we could get a 330 on. I still build 250s, 200s and some with a 300, but the majority of our products since ’05 have been on Avon 330 rear tires.”
The AV92 Cobra Chrome tire has been featured on a lot of the high-profile bikes made by Bourget’s Bike Works. Recently, a collaboration with New Era resulted in a stunning Major League Baseball-themed bike, equipped with those expansive Avon tires.
Bourget’s Bike Works got its start building components rather than entire bikes. “I started off doing frames and billet accessories. Then that evolved into rolling chassis and complete motorcycles,” Brigitte says.
She also jokes that she got into building V-Twins for a career almost by accident. “It was a hobby that took on a life of its own. A little bit of luck and a lot of hard work. It’s really been the American dream. Who would have thought that 35 years later I’d still be doing this?”
And, 35 years later, Avon Tyres is still right there to keep those customs rolling.
“We were always the trendsetter and the pioneer in doing crazy things nobody had done before, and Avon was willing to join in. It’s been a great partnership for a lot of years,” Brigitte says. “It’s not just about having somebody that will partner with you; it’s having a quality partner you know is reliable. Their product is second to none.”
Today, Bourget’s Bike Works has two patents, thousands of happy customers, and a name widely known throughout the motorcycling world. Avon Tyres is proud to still be a part of the journey after so many years. ■

Brigitte Bring, the owner at Bourget’s Bike Works, has counted on Avon Tyres for more than three decades of producing one-of-a-kind custom builds. “Their product is second to none,” Bring says.
Avon Tyres’ AV92 Cobra Chrome tires are a popular choice for custom bike builders like Bourget’s Bike Works. The tires come in a range of sizes, including those wide tire models favored during the golden age of custom choppers.

here are plenty of aftermarket products for Harley-Davidsons that add a big punch of style or do something to improve the bike’s function. With lighting solutions from Custom Dynamics, riders can get both of those things.
Two of the latest items available from Custom Dynamics are designed to fit 2023-2025 CVO Touring models. The ProBEAM Tour Pak Add-On LED Light Kit and Low-Profile LED Saddlebag Lights are both great choices to illuminate the rear end of a CVO with sleek, bright lights.
The ProBEAM Tour Pak Add-On LED Light Kit adds the patented light pipe running light that makes the ProBEAM line such a unique lighting solution. A full-contrast brake light plus a standard or sequential flashing turn signal are part of the package.
Designed to mount easily to an OEM King Tour-Pak, this kit includes a drilling template to ensure perfect placement. The kit also comes along with a red or smoked lens,
For CVO riders who want to add lighting to their OEM saddlebags, Custom Dynamics offers Low Profile LED Saddlebag Lights with standard or sequential amber turn signals. These lights were already offered in a red turn signal version, but the team at Custom Dynamics expects this new dual-color option with the amber turn signals to be even more popular.
The saddlebag lights feature a single row of LEDs behind a smoked lens. Like the Tour-Pak lighting kit, the amber turn signal flash can be selected from one of three modes via the included magnet.
Mounting the saddlebag lights is easy thanks to doublesided tape that mounts just below the seam of the saddlebag lid. An included wiring harness ensures simple plug-and-play functionality, and the quick-disconnect design allows the saddlebags to be removed easily.
The timing of these new products was perfect for Custom Dynamics. During Daytona Bike Week, where Custom Dynamics was set up at Teddy Morse Harley-Davidson along with Drag Specialties, CVO riders flocked to the booth to load up on aftermarket lighting.
“We noticed the 24/25 CVO Road Glide customers were coming for our plate mounting system, filler panels, and lights everywhere,” says Custom Dynamics Chief Sales Officer Rob Bluma. However, he also noted that plenty of other models were getting a lighting upgrade at Daytona, too. “The Softail ST customers were lined up for the Shark Demon headlights. It wasn’t just the new bikes we were seeing success with. From Dynas, older Road Glides, Trikes, you name it, we were slammed busy.” ■

From Cop to Classic Style-Transforming FXRP Fairing Kits
Classic” gets thrown around a lot, but not everything earns it. In the world of Harley-Davidson, classic isn’t just old, it’s unmistakable. It’s a look that turns heads with just one glance. Klock Werks gets that. The FXRP Style Fairing Fit Kit was built as a tribute to that timeless style, blending iconic design with modern precision. Originally designed with wind protection and utility in mind for the Police version of FXR models, the bulbous yet sleek style developed a true cult classic following that stands strong to this day.
Klock Werks knew riders shouldn’t have to be fabricators or custom bike builders to get that unmistakable FXRP style. That’s why the FXRP Style Fairing Fit Kit was designed as a complete kit. It comes loaded with everything customers need for installation so there are no last-minute hardware store runs required. The kit includes Klock Werks’ 9-inch Flare windshield and step-by-step instructions that take the guesswork out of the equation. Every detail is dialed-in, right down to clearly labeled hardware bags that match the install guide and a modern, purpose-built metal bracket for each fitment.
“I have always loved FXRP fairings – my first custom was a 1990 Police Bike,” said Brian Klock, Klock Werks Founder and CEO. “Yes, I sold the fairing, now here we are making them once again. The aerodynamics just work! We didn’t do it first or invent it; we brought to market a quality part, bracket and all necessary hardware in one box.”
Giving riders an easy path to achieve nostalgic-era style with modern performance and craftmanship is a feat, and Klock Werks has done it for a wide range of riders. A large variety of Harley-Davidson model compatibility is available, including Dyna, FXR, M8 Softail, Road King, and Sportster. Plus, Indian Chief and Springfield riders can tap into the FXRP styling with fitment for their bikes, too.
Each fairing is ready for any customer’s custom touch with a primer finish. Once the fairing has been initially installed and fitment confirmed, it can be modified for audio, gauges, and/or phone mounts to the rider’s taste, then it’s off to paint match.
Like other Klock Werks products, FXRP Style Fairing Fit Kits are built in the USA to last, leveraging fiberglass construction and high-quality materials designed to withstand the rigors of the road. These complete kits retail for $1,999.95 regardless of model application, which is an appealing value for your customers looking to transform the look and feel of their motorcycle. ■

Daytona Debut
Introducing a Performance V-Twin Tire
The launch of the riding season is also a great place to launch a new tire. The Pirelli DIABLO Powercruiser tire made its debut at Daytona Bike Week, where attendees were excited to get their first look at the Cruiser and Bagger tire with racing DNA.
The DIABLO Powercruiser tire was showcased inside Pirelli’s display at Destination Daytona. To show how versatile this performance V-Twin tire is, Pirelli kitted out three Harley-Davidsons with the tire. There was a Road Glide, a Softail Slim and a Low Rider S, all ready to hit the road equipped with DIABLO Powercruiser tires. Attendees raved about how great the tires looked on all three bikes. This new tire, though, is about a lot more than just looks. The Pirelli DIABLO Powercruiser tire is built to match the styling and weight of a V-Twin, but it also focuses on sportiness and performance. With the enduring popularity of performance Baggers and more emphasis than ever on handling and horsepower, the DIABLO Powercruiser is a tire that can keep up with a modern V-Twin’s capabilities.
In Daytona, a steady stream of people came through the Pirelli booth to check out the DIABLO Powercruiser tire. Many of the attendees knew Pirelli’s history in racing, and they quickly saw the potential of the new tire.
“We’ve seen incredible advancements in suspension, braking and other performance components across the V-Twin world, and riders are pushing their bikes harder than ever before,” said Brian Davenport, Pirelli Tires. “The DIABLO Powercruiser is the missing piece—a true performance tire that brings everything together. It’s built to complement today’s performance upgrades and gives riders a tire that can keep up with the rest of their build.”
The DIABLO Powercruiser is the first in Pirelli’s new CustomTouring line of high-performance tires for Cruisers and Baggers, taking many of its cues from motorsports. The tire is designed to give V-Twin riders sporty, reliable grip and handling, even on Touring bikes. Stability, confidenceinspiring wet grip and mileage characteristics all add up to give riders the right blend of performance and reliability.
The slick shoulders of the DIABLO Powercruiser tire are a nod to its racing-inspired design. Those shoulders offer plenty of grip through the corners, and they show at a glance just how performance-minded the tire is. The central part of the tread pattern bears Pirelli’s iconic Flash design, which further elevates the tire’s sportiness.
The DIABLO Powercruiser tire is available in all the main sizes for popular American Baggers and Cruisers. It’s a nimble tire, but sturdy enough to handle even the heavier Touring models. ■

Seamless License Plate Frames for New Baggers
Curves and lines of new Street Glides and Road Glides seem to synchronize into a sculpted silhouette. Aerodynamic functionality meets iconic style and heritage with every detail refined – almost.
It takes the eye of a true enthusiast and two-wheel innovator to recognize potential areas for improvement, big and small. Ciro operates on that mindset, and it didn’t take much more than a glance at the back of a new Bagger to visualize a cleaner, sleeker option.
Specifically, it’s the OEM license plate holder and light that stood out. Among the clean and continuous lines of the rear fender, bags and taillights, the OEM license plate assembly just seems like a clunky afterthought. “The new 2024 Touring bikes are gorgeous but were betrayed by an
unfortunate license plate fixture. We came up with a new design that looks like it belongs,” elaborated Darron May, Product Designer for Ciro. Thankfully, that can now be easily switched out and upgraded with Ciro’s curved license plate frame with LED light.
Unlike the stock unit, Ciro’s curved plate frame hugs the natural curve of the rear fender for a much more sleek, integrated look. Plus, instead of a clunky light housing above the plate location, bright LEDs are integrated directly into the plate frame with Ciro. The bright white LEDs add another layer of custom touch and cohesive style, especially at night.
A polished look and functionality are prioritized with every design detail of Ciro’s curved license plate frames, down to the elimination of any visible fasteners for the smoothest look. Each curved plate frame is constructed from quality aluminum, available in a chrome or black finish. Plus, Ciro’s proprietary design doesn’t use traditional license plate mounting holes, which opens up options for fitment of some international plates.
On top of giving Baggers the look they deserve, installation of Ciro’s curved license plate frames is quick and straightforward. The kit includes a base plate, rubber backer and hardware kit so customers can simply remove the old unit with a few bolts and replace it with the new one, right down to the plug-and-play lighting connection.
Like so many other Ciro products, these curved plate frames are backed by a 3-year manufacturer warranty and the LEDs are protected against failure with a limited lifetime warranty, making customer support a headachefree process. ■

Back in Black New Finish for Popular 2-into-1 System
Bassani Xhaust continues to innovate with its lineup of exhaust and mufflers for V-Twins and now one of the company’s popular systems gets a new finish, giving your customers a choice when it comes to matching their bike’s style. Bassani is also debuting a new muffler.
While company founder Darryl Bassani passed away in February 2024 at the age of 80, the business he built continues to offer a wide assortment of exhaust systems and ancillary parts for V-Twins. Among those products is Bassani’s new blacked-out 2-into-1 Mid-Length Super exhaust system designed for 2017-2025 Harley-Davidson M8 Bagger models.
“Due to the popularity of our *(EMIS Code 3) 2-into-1 Mid-Length exhaust system with Super Bike Muffler - which is one of our top sellers - we’ve been asked for a black version,” says Gary Naito, Bassani Marketing and Sales Manager.
Bassani’s popular 2-into-1 Mid-Length exhaust system with Super Bike Muffler is now available in black, offering your customers one more choice when it comes adding that true Bassani power and style.

High Roller Wallet-Friendly V-Twin Tires
Tires are one of those staple stocking items that tend to be a very subjective decision for V-Twin customers. With a vast array of tire brands and model offerings, choosing a tire to fit each customer’s budgetary and performance needs can be challenging. Kenda recognizes that not every rider needs Bagger Racing League-level performance from a set of tires, instead focusing on providing dealers and end users economical tire choices.
Kenda Tires combines quality materials and construction methods with confidence-inspiring handling characteristics, an economical retail price, and strong dealer margins. For dealers with a high volume of pre-owned inventory, a new set of Kenda Tires is one way to help push those sales across the finish line, resulting in a win-win for dealers and customers.
One such tire for dealers to consider stocking is the K6702 Cataclysm, Kenda’s dual-compound technology high-end cruiser tire for V-Twin machines. A high-mileage compound is used in the center patch for longer life, with a grippier side compound used on the edges for cornering stability. Integrated grooves in the tread pattern disburse water in wet conditions. The K6702 is robustly built to handle the higher loads inherent with heavier V-Twin touring and bagger motorcycles in front and rear sizes for today’s most popular cruisers.
The K673 Kruz is another offering from Kenda that is available in 17 popular sizes for today’s larger and heavier American V-Twin models. The bias-ply, belted casing tire delivers a high load-carrying capacity and a stable ride in
all weather conditions, which makes it a clever choice for V-Twin owners on a tight budget.
For smaller-sized sport and touring American V-Twins like Harley-Davidson’s Low Rider ST or Indian’s Scout Rogue, the K671 Cruiser is an economical choice for replacement tires on machines with a lower load capacity. Kenda offers the K671 in 15 popular sizes, including 15-inch through 19-inch diameter front and rear tire sizes, in one-inch increments.
Last but not least, Kenda’s K657 Challenger tire (one of the brand’s first tires focused on the Touring market and the precursor to the K671) has been a staple in the Kenda V-Twin line-up since, and for good reason. With 14 available sizes between front and rear offerings, the K657 Challenger fills out Kenda’s V-Twin tire line, covering everything from sport-touring models to larger modern baggers and touring models.
Whether adding some polish to a pre-owned model in preparation for it to hit the sales floor or a customer reshod in the service department, Kenda focuses on helping dealers maximize margins through reliable and economical, profitable tire offerings. “Dealers know that pre-owned inventory is a good profit center for them,” adds Chad Ellis, Brand Development Manager at Kenda. “We are a brand that dealers can count on, and our tires allow dealers to maximize their margins when installing a set of tires on a used bike.” ■

Quick-Adjust Suspension Tech for V-Twins
rogressive Suspension continues to develop suspension technology with new and exciting products like its innovative 994 Elite Series Touring Shocks with integrated Quick Preload System (QPS) technology and the economically-priced 494 Sport Series Shocks that include adjustable preload and rebound damping without breaking one’s budget.
These products emphasize Progressive’s commitment to developing contemporary suspension technology features and solutions to improve the ride and handling characteristics of today’s heavier large displacement Baggers and touring models.
Take the 994 Elite Series shocks with QPS technology, for example. These shocks represent a breakthrough in smart suspension technology, allowing one to quickly adjust shock preload on the fly with 30 complete turns of preload fine adjustment accessible with the twist of an 8mm socket. No more removing the saddlebags on Harley Touring models to adjust the preload. These kits also include Progressive’s Frequency Sensing Technology which senses the frequency of road bumps and automatically adjusts shock damping for optimal ride performance and comfort. Quickly dial in the shock settings whenever there’s a weight change in less than a minute. 944 Elite Series shocks with QPS/FST come with a lifetime limited warranty.
Progressive also sells the QPS as a separate add-on kit to upgrade standard non-QPS 444 and 944 series shocks. These kits replace the original upper shock cap on 444/944 Series shocks with a QPS cap that uses a sealed gear drive with 17mm of preload adjustment. QPS upgrade kits are compatible with Progressive 444 and 944 Series shocks with standard, heavy-duty, or super-duty spring rates.
Progressive also has 494 Sports Series Shocks for sportier V-Twin applications. Competitively priced, these are proper sport-performance shocks constructed from aluminum with high-pressure nitrogen-charged monotube shock bodies, progressive rate springs and adjustable preload and rebound damping. The 494 line is a clever option for hooligan racers and weekend warriors on a budget who want performance without spending a lot. Each set of shocks is hand-built, tested and fine-tuned for optimal model-specific performance in standard or heavy-duty versions for select dual shock V-Twins.
“Progressive Suspension’s engineers have a knack for harnessing new and exciting suspension technology,” says Ryan Evans, Marketing Lead for Progressive. “From our patented Frequency Sensing Technology that adjusts
on the fly to take the need for in-depth suspension tuning knowledge out of the equation so the rider can put down miles with exceptional ride quality, to our all-new Quik Preload System that eliminates the need to remove saddlebags while making preload adjustments to account for large changes in rider/passenger weight.” ■

High-Performance Intake Upgrades
As one of the most recognizable aftermarket brands in the American V-Twin market, S&S Cycle has been an industry leader in high-performance solutions for Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles since the company was founded in 1958. The brand quickly became a favorite with custom build shops, dealer service departments, and DIY builders with its American-made, high-performance engine components and upgrade kits, exhaust systems, and air intake and fuel system upgrades. Today, the brand continues to churn out performance products that have earned them a reputation as a go-to source for V-Twin performance parts.
Two of S&S Cycle’s more popular add-on components include its *(EMIS Code 3) Super E and *(EMIS Code3) carburetor kits and *(EMIS Code 1) Stealth Air Stinger Teardrop Air Cleaners that, in combination, result in increased airflow, a noticeable increase in power, and improved overall throttle response. Super E and Super G carburetors are available in a natural or black finish for two distinct looks. S&S sells these carburetors individually or as complete kits with a teardrop air cleaner and everything necessary for a full installation, including mounting hardware, fuel and overflow lines, installation instructions and jetting recommendations.
Each S&S carb includes four fuel delivery ports and an updated O-ring-sealed idle mixture screw. Unlike a traditional choke setup, S&S’s adjustable accelerator pump and variable position enrichment starting system results in a more optimized throttle response and easier starts.
The Super E model, with its 1.875-inch diameter throat bore and 1.563-inch venturi is recommended for Harley Big Twin and XL engines up to 100 cubic inches.
By contrast, the Super G, with its larger 2.063-inch bore and 1.750-inch diameter venturi is recommended for high-compression modified engines, big bores and 90 cubic inch displacement and larger engines. With fitments from Ironhead Sportsters to late model Twin Cams, S&S carburetors and carburetor kits are an accessible upgrade for dealers and DIY builders looking for options to make Harley V-Twins run smoother and more efficiently.
As Howard Kelly, Senior Director of Marketing at S&S, says, “A carbureted bike has a little bit of soul that you can’t get with fuel injection. The ability to pull out a screwdriver, make an adjustment, and instantly feel it is a connection to your bike you can’t get with injection. And nothing says performance carburetor like having that S&S Teardrop on the side of your bike.”
S&S sells its classic Stealth Air Stinger Teardrop Air Cleaners as a separate add-on upgrade with fitments for both carbureted and EFI Big Twin, Twin Cam, M8, and Evo models. The iconic teardrop cover shape released in 1975 hides the high-flow stealth S&S air cleaner system beneath, delivering huge airflow gains over stock. These washable and re-useable air filters are made in the USA by the S&S team at its Wisconsin worldwide headquarters and are readily available from your nearest Drag Specialties warehouse. ■

Clean Sweep From Winter Storage to Riding-Season Ready
Dirt and other contaminants build up inside the engine and on the parts of a bike during riding season, and then bikes are put away for the winter. When spring rolls around again, it’s imperative to give a bike a thorough cleaning – inside and out – to get it running and looking its best before hitting the road.
LIQUI MOLY has a host of products to help customers take their bikes from winter storage to spring-riding ready.
“During a long storage time, motorbikes can suffer from damage due to the aging of rubber gaskets, fuel or the battery, etc.,” says Steffen Niemietz, Application Engineer for LIQUI MOLY. “Accordingly, the motto is ‘prevention is better than cure.’”
Freshening up a bike after long storage includes changing the oil. But, before the old oil gets drained out, LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Engine Flush should be added into the system. As the old oil circulates the flush through the engine, deposits that built up during the previous riding season or over the winter are collected. Then, when the old oil is drained, the contaminants are swept away along with it. That leaves the engine fresh and clean, ready for new oil. Since a clean engine results in less wear and improved performance, the engine flush is a quick way to revive a motor.
And, for the new oil, a quick check on LIQUI MOLY’s online oil guide makes it easy to find the right LIQUI MOLY motor oil and other suitable lubricants for a particular model.
That freshly cleaned engine still needs to efficiently deliver power to the rear wheel, and LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Chain Lube is an easy way to make sure the chain is performing at its best. Dirt and deposits that have gotten encrusted on the chain during storage will get cleaned out, leaving the chain with a layer of outstanding corrosion protection. The chain lube also reduces chain elongation and wear, boosting a chain’s life.
After performing maintenance in preparation for riding season, it’s probably going to be time for a bit of a cleanup, too. Whether it’s a rider’s garage or a professional service shop, LIQUI MOLY Universal Cleaner is a concentrated, industrial-strength cleaner that leaves walls and floors clean and ready for the next job. The cleaner acts as a degreaser, too, and the highly effective biodegradable formulation is more environmentally friendly than harsher cleaners.
With the bike ready to go and everything all cleaned up, that just means the rider needs a clear view of the road ahead. LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Visor Cleaner not only gets rid of dirt, oil and bugs, but it also lays down an anti-fog layer that keeps both glass and plastic visors clear. ■

WTrask Performance Turn It Up. Let It Breathe. Let It Rip.
hen it comes to getting the most out of your ride, Trask Performance delivers exhaust systems built for riders who demand more than just noise. These aren’t pipes for parking lot rev battles—they’re engineered for throttle-heavy riders who live deep in the RPMs.
Whether your customer is chasing more power, sharper style, or the kind of tone that gets respect without trying, Trask’s Big Sexy and *(EMIS Code 3) Assault exhaust systems are built to deliver real-world gains. With proper tuning, both systems can add 10–15 horsepower and noticeably sharpen throttle response.
BIG SEXY EXHAUST SYSTEM: MADE FOR MOTORS THAT MEAN BUSINESS
Designed with larger-displacement engines in mind, Trask’s *(EMIS Code 3) Big Sexy exhaust system features a stepped header design that encourages smooth, fast-flowing exhaust gas—essential for pulling the most horsepower out of a built motor. That stepped layout creates a pressure differential that accelerates scavenging and increases torque across the rev range, making this system ideal for high-output applications where every horsepower counts.
But it’s not just about power. The Big Sexy throws down a tone that’s deep and hard-hitting, refined enough for daily riding but aggressive enough to wake up any throttle twist. It’s a purpose-built system that looks the part, too. The design arcs up and over the lines of the bike, giving a build a custom look with real mechanical muscle underneath. It’s available in multiple finish options, including hightemp black ceramic and stainless, so you can match your exhaust to the rest of your setup with zero compromise.
ASSAULT EXHAUST SYSTEM: 2-1 POWER WITH A COMPACT ATTITUDE
Assault 2-1 system is an extremely high-flow exhaust that provides increases in power and torque.
For a customer who want serious performance in a nononsense package, Trask’s Assault 2-1 system is the answer. Engineered for aggressive exhaust flow and torque, its internal design focuses on smooth flow paths and precise collector geometry, ensuring the naturally aspirated motor gets exactly what it needs to run hard and clean.
Its tight, high-mounted design keeps it tucked up and away from trouble—perfect for bikes that see aggressive riding and serious lean angles. It’s a setup that keeps your lines tight and your confidence high, whether you’re hammering backroads or slicing through traffic.
Just like the Big Sexy, the Assault system comes in multiple finish options, including stealthy matte black and raw stainless for a race-inspired look. No matter their style, your customers can find a finish that matches their build’s attitude.
ENGINEERED TO PERFORM, BUILT TO LAST
Both systems are built to the same standards Trask puts into their turbocharged setups—which means durability and quality are non-negotiable. Welds are clean, materials are premium, and every line is designed with both function and form in mind. These aren’t repackaged off-the-shelf designs. They’re purpose-built components created by a company that knows how to squeeze every ounce of performance out of a V-Twin.
For customers who ride hard and demand performance that matches their throttle hand, Trask Performance exhaust systems could be their next move. Big Sexy or Assault—both are built to run, built to last, and built to look damn good doing it. ■

Taking the Easy Way Out Work Smarter, Not Harder
Taking the easy way out is often frowned upon as lazy, but when it comes to oil changes, the easy way just happens to be the smart way. With Maxima’s “oil change in a box” Oil Change Kits, your customers have an easy path to getting everything they need for a fluid swap on their Harley. No checking the owner’s manual, no searching for part numbers, no hoping they have enough oil. It’s the easy, smart option, and kits are available for all popular models dating back to the early 1980s.

plus a new drain-plug O-ring and a ProFilter premium spin-on filter in black or chrome.
Gathering the right lube and parts for an oil change shouldn’t be complicated, and with Maxima’s V-Twin Oil Change kits, it’s not. “It takes the guesswork out of oil changes,” explains Trevor Reis, Maxima’s Brand Manager
and the guy who helped spearhead not only the Oil Change Kits, but the ProFilter oil filters within them. “Honestly, with these available, and considering the quality of Maxima’s V-Twin Oil and ProFilter filters, I’m not sure why someone would still opt to buy everything individually,” says Trevor. The kits come in two choices, the Quick Change Kit and the Full Change Kit. The Quick Change kit is designed for regular engine oil changes and includes the appropriate amount of Maxima’s V-Twin Full Syn 20W-50 or V-Twin Mineral 20W-50 (depending on OEM recommendation),
When the engine, transmission, and primary all need attention there’s the Full Change Kit. This package not only includes engine oil and an oil filter, but Maxima’s V-Twin Primary oil and V-Twin Transmission gear oil as required. With the Full Change Kit, the engine gets fresh fluid all around.
“Protecting the engine and your customer’s investment is Maxima’s priority,” says Trevor. To that end, Maxima developed its oils specifically for V-Twin engines and their unique operating conditions. The formulas are tailored to protect a V-Twin’s moving parts, reduce friction, and help the engine run cooler. “That’s what separates Maxima’s V-Twin line from conventional ‘good enough’ engine oil,” he explained.
That same commitment also applies to the ProFilter oil filters included in Maxima’s Oil Change Kits. The filters were designed from the ground up, in a step-by-step development process that assessed every component and its function. The end result is an oil filter that offers extended oil-change intervals thanks to M-Pleat Technology (a unique folding pattern for the filtering media that increases surface area without inhibiting oil flow) and uses premium materials and manufacturing techniques to ensure reliability. ProFilter filters even have a nut on the end to facilitate removal. No frustrating filter wrench required, just a standard 17mm box wrench.
Sometimes, “easy” isn’t lazy, it’s smart. Maxima’s V-Twin Oil Change Kits are the intelligent way to approach a Harley’s most important maintenance routine. Maxima is an American oil company founded in 1979, with formulation and blending done in Santee, CA. ■

The Gold Standard Swedish Suspension for American V-Twins
Öhlins forks and shocks are widely considered to be some of the highest performing suspension components available. Racers and road riders alike turn to the Swedish brand’s parts for their performance, and Öhlins now has bolt-on products for Harley-Davidson’s late-model CVOs and 2014-2025 Touring models. These premium forks and shocks offer your customers the opportunity to improve their Harley’s handling, comfort, performance and style.
Late-model CVOs with 48mm inverted forks are eligible for the new FGRT 307 fork, also known as the American
“The FGRT 307s use our 30mm piston NIX-technology with separated compression and rebound functions into each fork legs,” says Öhlins Motorcycle Sales Manager Roberto Santiago. “This allows not only for a more precise functionality and for improved stability, but also a convenient placement of all adjustments at the top fork caps.”
Öhlins is famous for its gold-anodized fork uppers, but in the FGRT 307’s case the tubes are black to suit the American V-Twin aesthetic. A gold sheen is still evident on the titanium-nitride coated inner tubes, and this high-tech treatment, “drastically reduces friction, letting the internals work with ease to give a sublime ride,” explains Santiago. Weight- and stress-optimized machined-aluminum fork bottoms accept OEM calipers and feature updated Öhlins logos that further enhance the Blackline style.
For customers with 2014-2025 Touring models, Öhlins’ HD 779 STX Pro shocks bring fully adjustable, race-grade performance to street bikes. Offered with a choice of spring rates to suit rider weight, the 779s are also adjustable for length to tune ride height and handling.

Tom Motzko Authentically
DRAG’S ‘VENDOR GURU’ CELEBRATES 51 YEARS
By Marilyn Stemp Photos courtesy of Tom Motzko
When most people start a job, they don’t think about keeping it for half a century. Chances are, nobody does. That includes Tom Motzko, Drag Specialties’ head of vendor relations and business development. And he’s as surprised as anyone that 2025 marks his 51st year with the company.
Five decades is a good long stretch and Tom has been around to see motorcycle trends come and go, build and then rebuild a range of custom motorcycles, and witness the growth of the V-Twin aftermarket alongside the rise of Drag Specialties as the industry’s premier distributor. That long career now includes Tom’s induction into the Sturgis Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class of honorees.
I sat down with Tom at the Louisville NVP in 2025 to talk history, his business philosophy, his favorite custom motorcycles and more details about his 51-year tenure as Drag’s “vendor guru.”
Motzko started working for Tom Rudd, founder of Drag Specialties, in 1974 when he was 20 years old, one of few other employees at a warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. “I never expected anything. It was just a job,” said Motzko, now 70.
As a local drag racer, Rudd had started manufacturing parts he needed for his own 1960s Harley-Davidson Sportster, eventually heeding the call of fellow racers who wanted the same parts and, like Rudd, couldn’t find them. That story was common, but Rudd’s response was not. “Tom Rudd was a genius, he still is a genius,” said Motzko. “Rudd could look at a motorcycle for an hour, get an idea, and it would be the touch of gold.”
Back then, Motzko had been working as an auto mechanic and riding a 650cc Triumph Bonneville. “Larry Bangston hired me at Drag, he was the warehouse manager. Tom and Penny Rudd were there, of course, and Jim Preisler, too.”
As a new hire, Motzko filled orders by collecting parts in a shopping cart and checking them off a clipboard list. Assembly and packaging figured in the daily duties, too. Eventually, as business increased, the company moved to a larger facility and acquisitions occurred, among them a company then called E&S Coach & Saddlery. Today it’s where Drag Specialties seats are made.
By the early 1980’s Drag Specialties was running strong. Motzko took on responsibilities by necessity, managing the
packaging and assembly departments along with setting up and installing parts at trade shows and rallies, working with Jim Betlach, who’d started at Drag before Motzko. These were legendary times in the motorcycle industry when the aftermarket was rapidly expanding.
“We were doing so much business! I mean, we had planes, trains and automobiles. [Rudd was] taking barrels of money to the bank,” Motzko said. As an aside, Motzko shares a little-known fact that about 60 percent of Drag’s business in the early ’80s was in Honda Gold Wing parts under the brand Wing Leader.
Eventually, the business started to bobble and while a series of “saviors” came and went Motzko navigated the disruptions till the day came in 1988 when the company closed. Nobody was sure if it would be for a month or forever, and rumors swirled of a potential buy-out by a guy who owned a company called LeMans Corporation /Parts Unlimited. His name was Fred Fox.
JOINING THE LEMANS CORPORATION FAMILY
As Motzko explained, it was Jeff Fox, Fred’s son, who recognized the value of Drag Specialties to Lemans. Jeff saw how it filled a gap in their company on the V-Twin side, and in a turnkey fashion. When LeMans took on Drag Specialties, the change was dramatic. They hired people like Carl Beard, an industry veteran, and brought the appropriate crew back, instituting organization. At the same time Fred bought Edge Advertising and that ushered in cataloging and advertising. “We were young and full of energy, and we were given free rein to get the thing up and running,” said Motzko. “We had this wonderful opportunity to rebuild Drag Specialties, to rebuild relationships, and gain back trust. That’s all as important today as it was then.”
This chapter opened the door on a whole new set of responsibilities for Motzko. “When Fred bought the company, I was still running the assembly department, but more importantly, I’d gotten into R&D,” he said. “I was working with prototypes, the development of products, fitments and packaging.”
This product knowledge made Motzko the ideal person to inform and ultimately manage catalog development, too, because he instinctively knew the engine platforms and applications. The first new Drag Specialties catalog was produced in 1989, and custom bikes began gracing the covers in the early ’90s to showcase what Drag was about and highlight the extent of the product lineup. “The name FatBook stemmed from the copy writers at Edge Advertising,” Motzko said. “It kept getting bigger each year and they gave it that name. We could barely bind the thing!”
“Fred and Jeff believed in all of us, and we wanted to do the right thing for them,” Motzko recalled. The new team became not only co-workers but friends. That was when the first of two dynamic “Tom and Jim” teams got traction.
Jim Betlach had worked for Tom Rudd over the years, coming along to the new Drag Specialties like Motzko did. Early on,
Tom Motzko (left) and the late LeMans Corporation founder Fred Fox (right) in Spearfish, South Dakota getting ready to ride out to Black Hills Harley-Davidson.
Tom and his wife Debbie at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in 2023. Tom and Debbie had ringside seats for the night!
The late Drag Specialties National Sales Manager Jim Matchette (left) and Tom at the NVP in Madison, Wisconsin. The two made a legendary duo in the Drag Specialties history books.
Tom and Jim overlapped only slightly, but that changed with the LeMans purchase. As Betlach managed dealer development and Motzko focused on purchasing, their duties dovetailed more. “Tom is still my best friend,” Betlach said. “We’ve ridden together a lot over the years, and he’s built bikes for me; most people don’t know how good he is at that. And he is so well respected in the industry.”
For Motzko’s part the respect is mutual. “Jim knew the value of networking. I was young and he introduced me to so many people,” he said. “Inevitably, I got to know the vendors and they became friends. If it wasn’t for Jim Betlach, I wouldn’t be where I am.”
The second Tom and Jim team was Motzko and Jim Matchette. “Jim and I were a wonderful team. For a period of time, we were the face of Drag Specialties in the industry,” he said.
Jeff Derge, formerly with LeMans, now Director of Branded Products for Lincoln Industries, makers of Khrome Werks exhaust systems said of the memorable duo, “You can’t talk about Tom without mentioning Jim Matchette. When Tom
and Jim set their minds to do something, you either get on board or get out of the way. Whether business or personal, they were an unstoppable force, tackling every endeavor with passion, laughter, and had fun the whole time.”
Another memorable team? Tom and Fred Fox. As Motzko explained, Fred liked Drag Specialties. He thought it was cool and had a lot of potential, but it wasn’t his initial business line or his comfort zone. Fred liked to walk around at Drag Specialties events with Tom, who enabled Fred to get better acquainted with company reps. “That really helped me put a fingerprint on the majority of vendors,” said Motzko. “It gave me credibility to be with Fred.”
BIG INFLUENCE ON AFTERMARKET
Don’t underestimate that fingerprint as Tom has had an influence on a broad swath of the brands and suppliers within the pages of the FatBook and OldBook. Commenting on Tom’s impact, Derge added that, “Much like Fred Fox, Tom has influenced countless people and continues to shape the direction of not only Drag Specialties, but the American V-Twin industry as a whole. His influence often goes unnoticed due to his humble nature, but those who know him understand the depth of his contributions.”
In customary dodging of praise, Motzko diverts credit. “Fred was always really good about helping smaller companies grow with us. Memphis Shades was one of those, Klock Werks, too,” he said. “About 60 percent of our vendors are smaller and for a smaller guy to be under this umbrella and in the Drag catalog? It gives us credibility and it gives them credibility. We succeed together.”
That process was self-perpetuating. “We’d get well-known names on board like [Jerry] Covington, Tank from Tuff Cycle or Don Hotop over at Don’s Speed & Custom who someone else would call and ask for an introduction,” Motzko said. “Because I had friends in the background, I had the pleasure of being able to bring people in.”
Jeff Zielinski, owner of NAMZ Cycle Products, recalled a story that aligned with this. “I met Tom Motzko when the late great Don Hotop introduced us at the V-Twin expo and Hotop convinced Tom that our parts needed to be in the catalog,” said Zielinski. “Over the years our line has grown into what it is today. Tom has helped so many business owners like myself break through and grow into industry leading companies.”
As Motzko sees it, these relationships are always a partnership. “You’re shepherding this group along through the years, they’ve seen that open door, they know you’ll pick up the phone,” Motzko said. “I guess if I’m honest about it, I take a lot of pride in that I had a part in those guys initially being successful and continuing to be successful. My wife Debbie reminds me all the time, good begets good,” Motzko added. “If you’re good to people, if you tell them the truth and try to do the right thing, it comes back.”
This one is circa 1978-1979 and features Tom and his 1977 Harley-Davidson FXE, the first new motorcycle he bought. This was the first rendition (of many) of the bike. Behind him is his 1977 Triumph Spitfire, the first new car he ever bought.
Tom’s Big Black Bike, his garage-built 1990 FXRP that still sits in his garage, though after a makeover or two and with more than 200,000 miles on it. How’s that for proof that Tom builds ‘em to ride ‘em? As he says, “I’m not saving it for the next guy.”
That sort of testimonial speaks to the credibility that Tom has built over the decades and it’s no accident. After all, Motzko was riding to work when he started at Drag in 1974 and was customizing his own bikes, like the 1960 XLCH. The fully polished 900cc motor is cradled in a Smith Brothers & Fetrow frame that was serial number 15. “It weighed less than 400 pounds and was just so period correct,” said Motzko.
That was followed by a 1977 FXE, his first new bike, which naturally did not stay stock. “I had to have an SB & F HardHead neck kit and Dell ‘Orto carb,” he said. “And how about those Goodyear white letter tires!”
Once the Drag FatBook and OldBook catalogs became an annual phenomenon, Tom was recruited to coordinate the custom cover bikes, like the duo on the 1995 FatBook cover (his FXRP and Betlach’s FL) and a cool Road Glide for the 2002 edition. He’s occasionally built for friends, if a project interests him.
But the bike you’ll see Tom riding most is his “old reliable” Arlen Ness-influenced 1990 FXRP police bike. He explains, “Built in my garage in 1994-95, it has over 200,000 miles on it, though it’s been re-done a few times over the years. I taught myself how to plastic weld to significantly change and relocate the OEM fairing, and did all the molding, bodywork and assembly myself.”
Thanks to Bob “Mun” Monroe, the seat was lowered 1½ inches and the swingarm lengthened 1½ inches. The frame was stretched 3 inches, and raked 2 degrees, and the early ’80s flat-sided FLT fuel tank was stretched. The saddlebags were a joint project with Kevin Lehan of Drag Specialties Seat Company. “It’s still my main ride,” Motzko said. “I can’t give it up, and I can’t build something better or more comfortable.”
Then there’s the one Tom built for his wife, Debbie, in 1995, a frame-up re-build of a 1992 FXRP. Classic input included frame alterations by Mun, swingarm +1½ inches mods by Donnie Smith, and mild motor upgrades by Eagle Engineering. It’s super clean with in-frame wiring, silky body molding, and plenty of brushed aluminum. Proper ergonomics ensure the rider sits in the bike and combine with the FXR’s legendary handling for a comfy, capable tracker. It’s Debbie’s regular ride.
Not everyone knows that in his rare time off from the V-Twin motorcycle business, Motzko enjoys playing guitar. He also has a small, select collection of guitars. “It’s always been a passion. It’s an escape,” he said. “When you’re playing music, you can’t think about anything else.”
Tom’s custom builds stand in witness of an authentic motorcyclist who understands wrenches and riders. And that makes a world a difference when you’re regularly meeting motorcycle people and looking at doing business with some of them. He added, “I learned how to read people from Fred and people like Jim Betlach. It’s an important thing, especially early on. It can cut through a lot of issues later.”
“When I go into a potential vendor, I know within a half hour whether or not they can do business with us. A good example
would be Biltwell. And visiting Trask was an eye opener. He was real and he wanted to be successful. I knew right away we wanted to do business with them.”
Though Tom understands the value of recognizing authenticity, he’s quick to say it’s also a thread that runs throughout Drag Specialties and LeMans. “Many of our employees and our sales reps are riders. That legitimizes all of us with the vendors and the dealers.”
Reflecting on his 51-year career, Tom remained characteristically humble – his default nature to many who know him – despite his role and presence being integral to the Drag Specialties story. “I’ve forgotten so much of it because it was just part of the deal. But looking back, I think a story has value because it inspires people.”
And it’s an inspirational story for sure, especially for that kid who first started with a shopping cart and a clipboard in a warehouse pulling parts, not knowing he was laying the groundwork for the next five decades. ■

Performance with a Personal Touch
When it comes to stopping performance, compromise isn’t an option. For riders who demand more than what stock components offer, GBrakes’ customizable rotors deliver the perfect blend of performance, style, and reliability that serves as a bespoke upgrade for both street and track riders alike.
Each GBrakes rotor is engineered with premium materials and performance in mind, then laser-cut from 420 high carbon content stainless steel and double disc ground for optimal surface finish and flatness to ensure durability under stress, resistance to warping, and more consistent braking in changing conditions.
Each rotor is track-tested and street-ready, whether you’re navigating city traffic or pushing limits on twisties. They also keep brake systems cooler by allowing more airflow over every point of the pad surface, thereby reducing fade and improving longevity.
GBrakes front and rear Wave® rotors ensure maximum pad-to-rotor contact, delivering stopping force and razor-sharp feel at the lever that is more predictable and consistent under pressure. These rotors inspire confidence through every corner, stoplight and straightaway with improved brake torque and modulation, especially under aggressive braking.
Now, dealers and end users can design custom rotors with the GBrakes Custom Rotor Configurator. Dream it. Design it. Order it. GBrakes offers a new level of personalization for dealers and V-Twin owners to match each bike’s level of performance and unique style. BStarting Point Fitment Information at Your Fingertips
efore a dealer can order a replacement part for a Harley-Davidson, they have to know what the right part is. Drag Specialties makes it easy with the Quick Reference Charts found in both the FatBook and OldBook.

“ Talk to your Drag rep about using the Quick Reference Charts to easily look up OEM specs for Harley-Davidson models.”
These convenient charts show the stock sizing and fitment application information for Harley models dating back to 1936. Whether a dealer is trying to replace the spark plugs or a sprocket, or if they need to know the stock wheel size, the info is there at an easy glance.
The Quick Reference Charts were introduced about 25 years ago. It took a lot of work to get the initial batch of information compiled, but there was one thing that made it a little less complicated.
“Back when this was created, Harley-Davidson didn’t have nearly as many models, so it was a little easier to do,” notes Drag’s Pete Larrabee. “Once it was developed, it got easier, and we build on it every year. It will continue to grow as Harley comes out with more models.”
Now, as each new model debuts, Larrabee gets the relevant info and adds it all into the chart. Even though the charts were originally designed as a tool for dealers, they have become invaluable to customers, as well.
Sometimes, using the Quick Reference Charts is the easiest part of the process for a dealer since the charts
Since the FatBook and OldBook can be found online, customers can check what they need for their Harley. That capability is especially good for riders who have purchased used bikes and want to know if it has the OEMspec components still, or if the bike has been modified.
While having the catalogs online is great news for customers, some people might not realize what a wealth of information is there at the back of the FatBook and OldBook. “Our dealer network is pretty familiar with the Quick

Custom Gaze
Headlight Bezels for Raked Bikes
Headwinds has long been a go-to when it comes to customizing your customers’ headlights.
Custom bezels in a number of options bring an assortment of styles, colors and finishes
that can quite literally change the face of a motorcycle. The latest from Headwinds, a member of the Accutronix Motorcycle Products group, brings new options for raked bikes, offering the Mariah and Bradley Headlight Bezels for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
A custom fit headlight bezel for a raked Harley-Davidson means that the headlight is pointed exactly where it should be. “Whether it’s a frame rake kit, raked trees or a larger-than-stock front wheel, if the front end rides higher than standard, a custom headlight bezel can make sure your customer’s motorcycle is fixed on the highway and not lighting up the trees,” says Headwinds’ representative Troy Glenn.
The new Headwinds Headlight Bezel 8-inch Mariah is specially designed for bikes with an 8° raked frame while the 10-inch Mariah bezel is designed for a 10° rake. The Mariah is a familiar face in the Headwinds collection. The signature contour features smooth lines with a longer fiveinch traditional rounded visor across the top designed to keep light cast on the road ahead, and out of the eyes of oncoming motorists. Both the 8-inch and 10-inch Mariah are available in both chrome and black finishes.
Also joining the Headwinds selection designed for raked bikes is the Bradley, another familiar profile. The 10-inch Bradley, available in either chrome or black, features a smooth, round bezel, symmetrical all the way around for a bold finish and a striking glare.
The Bradley and the Mariah headlight bezels mount against the stock nacelles or fairings using the supplied hardware, and feature a screw-in bezel with a locking screw. The housing material is made from 6061 T-6 billet aluminum, and they are made in the USA.
Drag Specialties offers a big range of custom headlight housings from Headwinds for current and early model applications. Find an assortment of chrome and black headlight housings built from spun billet aluminum push-formed construction. Your customers can make a statement with multiple styles such as Concours, Mariah, Revolver and Vampire, available chrome-plated in either a grooved or smooth design. Headwinds housings allow your customer to use the existing bulb and glass for their 4½-inch , 5¾-inch and 7-inch housings. Required headlight blocks/posts are sold separately. ■

BPositive Engagement Driveline Solution for Touring Models
elt Drives, LTD. (BDL) has some new-for-2025 drive products it would like to share with Drag Specialties dealers. They include Belt Drive Kits and Competitor Clutch kits for Harley-Davidson Touring models, replacement billet chain drive clutch baskets, and new 34-tooth compensator for 2007 and newer Big Twin models.
For those unfamiliar, BDL entered the market in 1993 as a private-label manufacturer of belt drive systems and has been manufacturing belt drive primary kits for Harleys since the 1970s. Since then, the company has evolved into a recognized leader in the American V-Twin market with its open and closed belt drive systems, drive belts and accessories and clutch kits. BDL products have earned a reputation for taming high horsepower big torque engines by harnessing that power and transferring it to the rear wheel.
BDL Belt Drive Kits for Harley Touring models are offered in open- and closed-drive system options with a polished or black finish. From older 1980 and up Touring models to the newer iteration mechanical and hydraulic clutch models, these kits result in lower rotating mass for quicker RPMs and snappier throttle response, with that power noticeably transferred to the rear tire. BDL Belt Drive Kits include everything needed for service departments and DIY builders to update the drive system on Harley Touring models. They include a BDL “Competitor” clutch, motor plate, premium drive belt and pulleys, belt guards and covers, and any model-specific installation parts needed during the install process.
Competitor Clutch Kits are another drive system component BDL manufactures in the USA for Harley Touring model owners looking to add reliable clutch performance to their ride via a slip-free lock-up clutch. These patented ball-bearing lock-up clutches result in lighter lever pull and more precise engagement for better clutch feel and actuation. Each Competitor kit’s model-specific clutch diaphragm assembly encases a set number of steel ball bearings, replacing the stock hub, pressure plate, and springs. BDL also offers replacement billet aluminum
anodized clutch baskets for Chain Drive Touring models to replace the stock unit.
Lastly, BDL wants to draw attention to its 34 Tooth Chain Compensator for 2007 and newer Harley Big Twins. The patented BDL chain compensator has been on the market for the last 17-18 years and has proven itself repeatedly. The CS-34A replaces the OEM cush drive sprocket with a direct drive unit, giving riders a more solid clutch feel with less lag. For dealers looking for a source for performance Harley-Davidson drivetrain accessories and solutions, BDL products are accessible from your nearby Drag Specialties distribution warehouse. ■

Versatile Mirrors
Through generations of dealers serving the V-Twin market, one thing has always remained certain – you never know who’s going to walk through your door. Shops across the country see customers from all walks of life, each of them with their own style reflected by the unique motorcycles in the parking lot.
The crew behind Joker Machine doesn’t just know these customers, they share their love for riding and bike building. This connection has led to the development of an impressive catalog of parts and accessories. Among the latest additions to this lineup are Joker Machine’s No. 1 Rectangle mirrors and No. 8 Café mirrors.
These billet-machined mirrors don’t just reflect what’s behind them, they reflect Joker Machine’s commitment to USA-made quality and timeless design. The precise simplicity of classic style can complement so many different bikes, which was the fuel for the idea of the builder-inspired rectangular design of No. 1 mirrors.
Moto-born originality comes in many forms, another of which is captured by Joker Machine’s No. 8 Café mirrors. As the name implies, No. 8 Café mirrors pay homage to the sleek yet recognizable café style with high-strength construction and simple, yet detailed, machining.
Each style mirror from Joker Machine is cut from 6061 billet aluminum in the USA. Riders can easily adjust the mirrors with a stainless-steel ball joint design that also allows locking in the ideal position.
“There’s more that goes into designing and building our mirrors than you might think,” added Geoff Arnold of Joker Machine. “We try to find an ideal balance of style,
functionality and quality – all while delivering superior vision for the rider.”
You can offer either of these style mirrors to a huge range of customers with direct bolt-on functionality for many Harley models, plus available adapters for Indian, Triumph and metric motorcycles. All this fitment comes with versatile installation, each designed to work with upside-down mounting. Classic chrome or sleek black finishes are available for No. 1 and No. 8, expanding options even further.

Stopping In Style
SBS Partners with Kodlin USA for V-Twin Rotors
It’s not always about high-performance stopping power –sometimes it’s also about style. When the braking systems specialists at SBS teamed up with V-Twin parts designers at Kodlin USA, the new collaboration became about both. Meet the all-new line of SBS V-Twin brake rotors designed by Kodlin USA.
SBS V-Twin rotors designed by Kodlin feature 7-spoke, 9-spoke and 10-spoke designs in several striking designs and finishes. The new SBS 7XXX disc series features signature designs of Len Kodlin from Kodlin USA. Founded in 2020, Kodlin Motorcycles became known for its Harley-Davidson builds, and went on to create a selection of custom parts and accessories that push the boundaries of form and function. When Kodlin intersected with SBS, a major aftermarket and OEM supplier of brake pads and friction solutions, the result was a totally redesigned line of “Upgrade-level” brake rotors.
“We are excited to partner with Kodlin USA to bring what we call the ultimate blend of design and performance to the V-Twin community,” said Emil Senf Jakobsen, SBS Aftermarket Area Manager for North America at SBS. “Our shared commitment to quality will provide riders with more options at a premium standard in a variety of custom-style designs.”
For any customer wanting to boost displacement or increase power output on their Harley-Davidson, there is an opportunity to have a conversation about strengthening their stopping power, as well. For those seeking that custom look for their ride, the SBS 7XXX rotors have a fresh, edgy look that is bound to turn heads.
The range of specially designed rotors for Harleys features both front and rear brake rotors constructed in a floating design for optimum braking performance and heat management. The blackened finish comes from a thermochemical nitride coating that also improves wear resistance qualities. The rotors are also available in a classic polished stainless-steel with black stainless steel center hub. Venting slots not only offer an artistic flare, but aid in heat dissipation for cooling performance.
High quality stainless steel with high carbon content helps ensure precise fitment and a long lifespan, even under aggressive use. The floating rotor design not only helps with heat management, but helps provide a comfortable ride with minimal vibration. Anti-corrosion treatment helps keep the rotors looking sharp in a range of environments.
SBS 7XXX discs are sold individually and fit a wide range of Harley M8 Softail models. Additional fitments include FXDR 114, Hydra-Glide Revival and more, ranging from model year 2024 back to 2006. ■

Rock the Block
Amp and Speaker Kits for Baggers
Power has always been a focal point of HarleyDavidson riders, especially the desire to create more of it. Big Twin engine displacement has grown over the years, but cubic inches aren’t the only power stat that can be ramped up a notch or two.
ROKKER audio components from J&M Corporation are designed to deliver more juice, more sound and an allaround amplified riding experience for Bagger riders. Speaking of amplification, part of JMC’s latest additions to the ROKKER line are its Stage-6 amplifier kits for late model Street Glides.
Riders looking for a noticeable gain in sound with the ease of plug-and-play installation can look to the ROKKER Stage-6 400W amplifier kits. These kits deliver a respectable 400-watts of power across two channels, complemented by amp settings optimized for clarity and volume on the highway. Plus, installation is quick and easy with the included wiring harness and model-specific mounting brackets.
What about Street Glide customers that want to turn it up to the max? J&M designed its ROKKER 1000XXR Stage-6 amplifier kits to do exactly that, pushing a total of over 2,000-watts of power capable of delivering wind-piercing sound levels. These kits use modern technology for smoother operation, including high-efficiency circuitry for better cooling and proper shielding to prevent interference. Even with the big power increase, installation stays easy with complete, custom-made harnesses for seamless integration.
While these kits are powerful upgrades for new Street Glides, customers don’t need to be on brand-new bikes to experience a new level of sound from J&M. Also part of the ROKKER line, the company’s OEM-style speaker kits for 1999-2013 Electra Glide, Road Glide, Street Glide and Ultra models are direct replacements for the fairing or rear pod speakers. These bolt-in speakers bring improved power capability and enhanced audio quality with OEMlevel fitment and integration – a welcome upgrade for older-model Baggers.
The same generation Road Glide customers can complement their new speakers with JMC’s ROKKER fairing speaker grill set with tweeters. Durable construction delivers benefits of longevity and a clean, factory-like look that’s backed up with full sound thanks to the tweeters. This combo is ideal for an audio upgrade that looks sleek and sounds great.

FROM CATALOG TO CUSTOM
CAREY HART’S 2025 INDIAN CHIEFTAIN BUILD
Motocross and Freestyle legend Carey Hart is no stranger to building custom Indians. When it came time to transform this 2025 Indian Chieftain, he reached directly for the Indian catalog for parts and inspiration.
Photos courtesy of Carey Hart
Every time Carey Hart starts planning a new custom Indian build, he heads straight for the Indian catalog. This time around, the motocross and Freestyle legend and custom builder got his hands on one of the first 2025 Indian Chieftains to roll off the line. After 400 hours of work, the bike is a sleek Performance Bagger with Hart’s signature style.
For Hart, one of the fun challenges of the ’25 Chieftain build was the chance to fabricate some parts for it, including an adapter to accommodate the ODI Hart Luck Signature handlebars. While this was Hart’s first time working with the new Chieftain, it’s far from his first Indian build. His exclusive partnership with the brand means he builds two to three Indians every year. And, each time, he knows exactly where to start.
“The Indian Catalog is my go-to,” Hart notes. “I’m starting a Sport Chief build right now, and the first thing I do is grab the Indian book and start looking for parts.”
For Hart, who’s been a Drag Specialties Brand Ambassador and has plenty of experience working with LeMans, it’s not just about the availability of parts but also the speed of delivery. “In this industry, sometimes there’s a long lag,” he says. “The great thing about Drag is you order, and it’s on your doorstep in 2-5 days. Plus, the catalogs have every part you could possibly need.”
While there are a lot of options in the Indian catalog, Hart admits he’s a creature of habit, turning to the same proven brands again and again to provide the right look for his builds. Klock Werks windscreens, Dunlop tires and Drag Specialties items are usually on the list of parts for any of Hart’s builds.
“Every Bagger I have has a Klock Werks windshield,” Hart says. “The quality and fitment are great. I tend to trim them down.” That’s the case with the ’25 Chieftain, which has a trimmed windscreen to add to the sleek, racing-inspired look.
As for the tires, this bike features a set of Dunlop American Elites, giving the right blend of classic V-Twin styling and performance capability.
Hart has been riding V-Twins for 30 years, after purchasing one with money he earned as his motocross career was taking off. After transitioning to building as well as riding V-Twins, Hart is ready to offer advice for riders who want their own Performance Bagger.
CAREY HART’S 2025 INDIAN CHIEFTAIN
“For me, typically, I always tell people to get comfortable,” he says. “Start with the seat, handlebar and exhaust. It sounds fast, and you’re in a position to ride aggressively. From there, I always tell people chassis before engine. Do the brakes first, and the suspension second. Then get into the motor, and then get into the aesthetics, lighting packages, paint, swingarms and all that stuff.”
Dialing in the chassis and brakes might sound counter-intuitive to someone new to the scene, but there’s no point in having a built motor if the bike itself is unequipped to handle the horsepower. For the brakes on the Chieftain, Hart replaced the stock rotors with a set of Galfer WAVE rotors. These performance-minded rotors are able to provide excellent stopping power while adding a bit of style to the braking setup, too.
In addition to the ODI Hart Luck Signature handlebars, the grips are also Hart’s signature line from ODI. They’re one of the most obvious motocross cues in the Chieftain build, and proof that this Performance Bagger has the heart of a motocross race bike.
“The handlebars are motocross bend,” Hart points out. “It’s the exact same bend I run on my MX bike. The grip is an MX waffle. I’m not reinventing the wheel: we just apply MX style to the V-Twin bars.”
Another motocross-inspired part on the Chieftain is the Saddlemen Hart Luck Signature seat. The solo seat design gives Hart a motocross-style stance that lets him feel right at home. He says, “My three points of touch are butt, feet and hands. I like my feet under me and my hands in front of me. So, everything applies back to my MX background.”
Hart worked with Saddlemen to design the seat back in 2015, and it’s become his standard seat on V-Twin builds. “I love that seat. It’s an aggressive, timeless seat,” Hart notes. Plus, the process of designing it was a lot of fun. “I don’t do that passenger thing; my wife rides her own motorcycle. So, I told [Saddlemen] I want something that looks fast standing still. We played around with different foam and padding and came up with this seat.”
Other parts on the Chieftain that Hart found in the Indian catalog include a Barnett clutch cable to ensure flawless
With an action sports background like Hart’s it’s no wonder all of his customs are designed and built to perform. That Chieftain cuts a sporty profile.
CAREY HART’S 2025 INDIAN CHIEFTAIN
performance when shifting. And, after dialing in the motor with a Dynojet, the power gets delivered to the rear wheel with a DID chain. An easy but significant upgrade, DID chains ensure long life and reduced flex for smooth power delivery.
The custom paint by Airtrix pulls everything together, cementing the racing-inspired look of the Chieftain.
The rise of the Performance Bagger scene has coincided with Hart’s rise as a bike builder. He says, “It’s been really fun. Truthfully, for me, it’s good timing. When I started doing this 10 years ago, it was just a hobby. I was doing MX influences on my V-Twin bike; stance, suspension, brakes and so on. It was right about that time this performance trend was bubbling up.”
The timing wasn’t just good for Hart. He’s quick to point out that the performance potential has given Baggers a much-needed boost in visibility and desirability. “It’s taken the stigma away from the Bagger as an ‘old man’ bike. It’s given it a shot of adrenaline because younger riders
can hop them up, do suspension and motor and brake upgrades, and they don’t feel like they’re riding their dad’s bike,” Hart says.
And for any riders looking for inspiration, they’ll be able to see Hart’s custom 2025 Indian Chieftain at the One Show, following its debut at Daytona Bike Week and the Handbuilt Show. Hart will get the bike back in May, and he’ll be riding it to Sturgis this summer. In all, he expects to put about 25,000 miles on the bike this year alone.
And when he’s not riding, you can likely find Hart working on his next build, including flipping through the pages of the Indian Catalog. Hart says, “I’ve worked with Parts Unlimited on the MX side for about 30 years, and getting to jump the fence and work with Drag Specialties on the V-Twin side just feels like home.” ■

The Distinguished HOOLIGAN
BOOK SMARTS AND FLAT TRACK RACING DREAMS
Dreams of racing pro and laying out a life plan that your parents would call “responsible” are often two very different things. But for Daniel Poole of High Voltage Harley-Davidson, a Drag Specialties dealership in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he’s laying out his own path where both completing college and his flat track racing dreams coexist. Just after graduating from Limestone University with his degree in accounting, Daniel took to the Grand National Hooligan Series, and managed to turn pro in the American Flat Track series. The 25-year-old is taking on both championships in 2025, and demonstrating what a fine upstanding hooligan with book smarts and an old Sportster 883 can accomplish.
Daniel has been turning left since he was 12 years old, but only now is reaching his goal of racing pro. Along with securing a ride in the American Flat Track national championship in the AFT SuperTwins class aboard a Kawasaki Ninja 650, Daniel is competing in the Grand National Hooligan Championship
aboard a Harley-Davidson of his own building. “I found a bike and I was going to buy it and flip it, make a little bit of money to fund my racing,” Daniel says. “I test rode the bike and it felt like it had a lot of power and I thought, ‘I might throw a race bike together.’ Because it was winter, I brought it home and we started building a race bike out of it.”
Together with his father, Mike Poole, and friend and mechanic, Ron Stafford, Daniel got to work on the 1992 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 transforming it into a Hooligan dirt track racebike. “It has to meet a minimum weight ratio, and it has to be a certain wheelbase. After that you can do whatever you want, like engine modifications to the bike. We put an S&S Cycle 1250cc Hooligan kit in it, along with some Progressive shocks and more things out of the Drag Specialties FatBook like PBI Sprockets, a chain drive and then put 19-inch wheels on it and it’s race ready from there.”
As Daniel explains, there’s only so much that goes into building a Hooligan dirt tracker, a stark contrast from the

As an employee of High Voltage Harley-Davidson, a Drag Specialties dealer in South Carolina, Daniel Poole brings his racing knowledge from the Grand National Hooligan Championship to the sales floor.
AFT SuperTwins division. “You can really only drop so much money into these Sportsters to make them competitive. There’s not as many electronics or upgrades you can throw at it like you can in at the Pro level. It’s really just fine tuning the bikes, and you can be good to go even if you don’t have a lot of money in the bike,” he says. “I mean, I bought a cheap used Sportster for $2,000, threw a couple grand back into it, and went racing and won my first outing. So, you definitely don’t have to throw a whole lot of money into a Hooligan dirt track bike.”
The thrill of competing in a rider’s race, versus a builder’s race, is the main appeal of the Grand National Hooligan class, and what also allows a privateer rising star like Daniel Poole to shine on the track. At the first race of the GNHC South series, Poole emerged victorious in a bar-banging battle to the line, demonstrating what 13 years of race craft, and a passionate privateer heart can accomplish.
“He’s got a good head on his shoulders,” says Drag Specialties sales rep Bill Pitt, who has been by Poole’s side in his recent racing efforts, and is proud to support someone he calls an inspiration. “He’s a guy who grew up racing, went to college, got his degree and then decided to pursue racing full-time. He did the opposite of what most guys do. He’s also working at the shop in a lot of different roles, doing some of the accounting and business backend as well as sales. He’s just a good kid. It’s a positive thing when you see someone that makes you feel good about the next generation.”
“Bill brought me out to NVP shows twice,” says Poole. “He also funded our trip out West last year for the AFT rounds in Sturgis and we spent a week out there racing. He helps me make connections with companies and brands. Chance and Jennifer Darling at Barnett came on board huge, all through Bill Pitt. He’s been a big help.”
And of course, the experience both on the track and in the garage helps Poole bring unique knowledge and insight to his day job.
“Having the knowledge of the parts, from a performance race-type build, helps in the dealership because having knowledge of using parts like aftermarket shocks, you can really talk to a customer about compression and rebound from a racing perspective,” says Daniel. “People might not understand it just for a streetbike, but having it all set up right is really important.”
With the Drag Specialties team on his side, the FatBook at his fingertips, and the insatiable drive to win, Daniel Poole is going full throttle in 2025. Keep an eye on this rider in AFT and GNHC racing this season. ■
After earning a degree in accounting, Daniel Poole turned his attention back to his childhood dream, professional racing. For 2025, he’s competing in the Grand National Hooligan Championship aboard his FatBook-flavored Harley-Davidson 883 Sportsters and in the AFT Super Twins class.
When Daniel Poole started his project of building an 883 Sportster into a Hooligan-class machine, he knew right where to look – the Drag Specialties FatBook.
Service Provider Parts to Keep Indians on the Go
Keeping an Indian in good running order is as simple as selecting Drag Specialties items from the Indian catalog. With plenty of options for OEM replacements as well as premium parts, Drag Specialties has everything needed to keep Indian models in top form.
From oil filters to spark plugs, there are plenty of parts on any motorcycle that are going to eventually reach the end of their service life. With routine maintenance and quality products, though, it’s easy to avoid any mechanical setbacks from these items.
Dealers know they can confidently turn to Drag Specialties products for this routine service. “We have always done our best to offer a complete selection of tried and true replacement maintenance products that are priced right and easily available,” says Drag’s Tom Motzko.
Drag Specialties oil filters are a great replacement for OEM filters, and they easily spin on to make sure an Indian’s engine operates with clean oil. Of course, Drag offers a full lineup of oil suitable for Indian motors, too.
It’s not just oil that needs to be kept clean. Drag Specialties OEM-style replacement air filters are designed to work with the OEM filter housings on Indian models, and the high-quality paper captures dust and other contaminants. When it’s time to replace spark plugs, Drag Specialties offers both performance spark plugs and iridium spark plugs, as well as spark plug wires. The performance spark plugs are a conventional style, making them an easy swap from the OEM plugs. They provide everything you’d
expect, like a leak-free seal and a nickel-plated housing to guard against oxidation and corrosion.
The Drag Specialties iridium spark plugs take things up a notch in terms of technology and performance. The iridium electrode is smaller than a standard electrode, but it requires less voltage while providing a hotter spark. Plus, the plugs provide a long service life.
Drag Specialties considered both stock and customized Indians when presenting its offering of brake pads. The sintered brake pads are the standard OEM-style replacement, providing outstanding stopping and longevity while also minimizing noise and dust. Indians with polished, chrome or billet steel rotors can opt for the Drag Specialties organic brake pads, which feature highperformance aramid fibers.
Another aspect of a motorcycle that needs to be maintained and occasionally replaced is the battery. Drag Specialties offers three types, all including AGM technology. The Drag Specialties Premium performance batteries provide longer shelf life and improved life cycle performance. This battery is ideal for stock bikes as well as custom bikes that require an extra dose of performance.
Drag Specialties high-performance batteries are designed for bikes that need extra cranking power, while Drag’s AGM maintenance-free batteries are a solid choice for hard-starting, high-performance engines. ■

Critical Connection
Heat Protection Sleeves
Without connections, motorcycles wouldn’t operate. Whether it’s a wiring harness, fuel or oil line, clutch cable or anything in between, these are critical to each major system that keeps bikes running smoothly.
Naturally, bikes generate heat, especially with big V-Twin engines, and heat is an enemy to every one of these connections. That’s where DEI comes in. As heat control experts, DEI has several options to help leave this worry on the highway, including Fire Sleeves and Vapor Block Sleeves.
“The DEI Fire Sleeve offers our highest level of heat protection for lines and cables,” explained John Gabriel, Powersports Manager for DEI. “We see Fire Sleeve being used on Supercross bikes and it would also be perfect for protecting clutch cables or lines running close to exhaust on Harley-Davidsons.”
Case in point, many of these areas on Harleys are already exposed to potential damage; there’s no need to let heat
Another protection option is DEI’s Vapor Block Sleeve. This is perfect for customers looking for a quicker install and lower price tag as it’s constructed with a split design and lighter, less expensive material.
“The glass fiber inner layer protects against heat while the split design makes it easy to install over items without having to disconnect them. Vapor Block is a great option on fuel lines for both EFI and carbureted bikes,” added John. ■

TBuilding a Platform Seats for Style and Performance
urning a Bagger into a performance V-Twin means amping things up from top to bottom, including the seat. The KickFlip and TailWhip seats from LePera Motorcycle Seats are designed for riders who like to push the limits of what’s possible, fusing killer style with function.
The KickFlip offers maximum back support and ample seating for the driver, while the TailWhip takes that aesthetic one step further, with a “whipped up” tail that increases comfort for the passenger, while also amping up the style. Popular with riders and Performance Bagger builders alike, the seats are offered in three rider positions with multiple stitch styles.
“The KickFlip and TailWhip seat styles have exploded in popularity with Bagger riders because they strike that perfect balance between aggressive performance, styling
and comfort,” says Christine LePera. “Riders love the aggressive look that complements a custom build, while keeping you planted and supported when you twist the throttle.”
The aggressive look of both seat styles is just a part of what makes them distinct. The steel baseplate is powder coated and carpeted to protect painted surfaces, and riders know the seat will be a perfect fit.
LePera’s specially poured and molded high-density Marathon Foam provides stability and comfort, ideal for riding all day or showing off for a crowd.
Each KickFlip and TailWhip seat is handcrafted in the USA, featuring the attention to detail that riders expect from every LePera seat. ■

Versatile Cruiser Luggage
very trip is different, which means luggage needs will often vary from one journey to the next. Nelson-Rigg’s Route 1 Collection of Cruiser Touring luggage is designed to mix and match, so riders get the right setup, every time.
This 12-piece collection features universal fitments for maximum applications. “There really isn’t a motorcycle that we don’t have a bag for,” says Nelson-Rigg’s Deb Drinan. “Whether it’s a Tour-Pak rack, backrest or sissy-bar rack, seat, etc., we’ve got it all covered with a minimal amount of SKUs. We help dealers maximize sales opportunities and minimize inventory while still meeting customer needs.”
The Route 1 Collection expanded this year with the addition of the Highway handlebar bag and the return of the Getaway 2.0 rack bag. Riders on smaller-displacement motorcycles, like the Sportster, had requested a proportional version of the Destination rack bag. Nelson-Rigg answered with the Getaway 2.0, which features an updated design from the original.
All Route 1 luggage features Nelson-Rigg’s proprietary UltraMax fabric, which will not fade. Its colorfastness is included in the company’s Lifetime Warranty. Each piece of luggage is water-resistant and includes an integrated waterproof rain cover to keep gear dry. Luggage straps are securely fixed, so they won’t get lost or flap around while riding. And, thanks to their virtually universal fitments, the luggage fits a wide range of models. Once mounted, rigid construction helps the bags hold their shapes. ■

KBig Bore Beasts
Super Duty Piston Kits for M8 Models
B Pistons has Super-Duty Big Bore Piston Kits to upgrade stock Harley-Davidson MilwaukeeEight models with 107-inch, 114-inch and 117-inch motors to 124-inch or 128-inch big bore sizes. These piston kits are a convenient one-stop solution for dealer service departments and DIY builders to add big-bore torque and power to Harley M8 customers’ rides.
Each KB Super-Duty Piston is forged from 4032 aluminum alloy, is hard-anodized, and piston valve pockets accept up to +4 mm oversized intake and exhaust valves. KB also utilizes Line2Line’s Abradable Skirt Coating Technology, which allows the pistons to start life with near-zero cylinder wall clearance. During the break-in period, the pistons “hone the cylinders,” which results in optimal ring seal and quieter engine operation.
M8 series Super-Duty Piston Kits include two pistons, heavy-duty wrist pins, moly rings and round wire locks. Dealers should note Harley M8 model kits require the purchase of 4.250-inch big bore cylinders and a gasket kit
for complete installation. Drag Specialties carries a range of KB Pistons for Harley-Davidson and Indian models in various compression ratios and engine size offerings. ■

Clutch Cables for American V-Twins
Motion Pro has added to its range of V-Twin cable offerings with a new line of Split Cables for 2021 and later Harley-Davidson Baggers, and 2018 and later Softails. These new clutch cables add refined control to any machine by replacing the top half of the stock clutch cable assembly with Motion Pro’s premium design that eliminates the plastic parts and spring mechanism found on the stock cables.
In place of plastic, Motion Pro redesigned the junction box using components machined from 6061 T-6 Aluminum with a black-anodized finish. Eliminating the plastic components results in more precise tolerances, better rigidity, and improved overall feel. The design also integrates a threaded adjuster at the cable junction box, making precise free-play adjustments easily accessible in the garage or on the road.
Each Motion Pro split cable kit includes a longitudinally wound black housing with premium chrome fittings for extra durability from the elements and high compression/pinch resistance. Motion Pro offers multiple plus-length options for each Harley model application, making these kits ideal for service jobs, custom builds and DIY customers looking to upgrade their controls or add taller handlebars to their ride. Art Director Eric Clay states, “Motion Pro is excited to deliver an enhanced top-half cable system for HD applications, providing improved reliability and adjustability for customers.”

Up to Date Selling Software for Diagnostic Tools
Staying up to date with a service tool like the MOTO Pro or MOTO Mini is easy with a simple software update. Even once a dealer has sold one of these diagnostic tools to a customer, there is still a need to keep the software up to date over time.
The MOTO Pro is a comprehensive tool for a wide range of motorcycle and recreational vehicle brands. The more targeted MOTO Mini comes in three versions, including one for American makes such as Harley-Davidson.
A software update adds new models, of course, but it can also do a lot more. For Harleys, the latest update enables remote immobilization, speedometer pairing, start-up PIN code changes and reprograming for badges and keys. Plus, by updating the software regularly, the MOTO Pro and MOTO Mini will continue to run efficiently and reliably. VCI updates provide faster connectivity, and firmware updates ensure faster boot-up and overall performance.
“The tool is only as good as the software installed in it,” says Victor Rivilla from CanDo International, the brand behind the MOTO Pro and MOTO Mini. “By updating the tool, not
only will customers ensure that they have the coverage for the latest makes and models, but they will also have a faster and more efficient operating scan tool.” ■

What Goes Fast Must Stop Brake Component Options for
Baggers
Bagger encompasses a wider variety of riding styles than it used to. Previousday Bagger rides just meant casual cruises or steady road trips to rallies. Today, you can find Baggers with big power upgrades attacking the streets and dragging pipes at racetracks.
The point is, there’s a lot of different Bagger riders out there, which means they have different brake performance needs. EBC has them covered with a catalog of brake pad options and rotor upgrades designed to fit the riding task at hand.
Brake pad options include factory-quality, standard replacements to varying levels of braking power in EBC’s ‘HH’ line. Full-sintered HH pads are a major improvement over stock and are ideal for most Bagger applications. Suffice it to say, they’re EBC’s best-selling pad.
EPFA HH pads enhance performance a bit further, making them great for more aggressive street riding or occasional track use. If riders need the most bite they can get, GPFAX
EBC’s EPFA HH brake pads offer a performance upgrade for Bagger riders.
HH pads are for them, designed for high-performance, racing use only.
“On top of the pad upgrades, EBC offers brake rotor options in the form of full-floating rotors that dissipate heat more effectively, improving performance,” added Gary Taylor, Motorcycle Product Manager for EBC. “We also offer oversize rotors for popular models – an upgrade that improves brake modulation and performance.” ■

The “Pig” Wins! Track-Proven
V-Twin Parts
Racing improves the breed, and nobody knows that better than Feuling Parts. Feuling helped found the Bagger Racing League back in 2021, and in 2024 the SoCal company snagged a BRL championship with its Harley-Davidson Road Glide, dubbed “The Flying Pig 3.0,” piloted by former WSBK and MotoGP rider Ruben Xaus.
“We were nothing short of dominant this season,” says Feuling owner Luke Leatherman. “The success on track shows everyone why Feuling is second to none when it comes to performance products for Harleys.”
Bagger Racing League champion Ruben Xaus abord Feuling’s “The Flying Pig 3.0,” a race-ready Road Glide jammed full of the company’s go-fast parts.
Winning the first four races of the 2024 season, Ruben and the Pig clinched the championship at the final doubleheader round at Willow Springs International
Raceway in Rosamond, California. The Pig’s 131-inch engine is essentially a rolling Feuling catalog, both proving the parts’ performance and serving up valuable data and experience for future product development.
From the *(EMIS Code 2) BA Air Cleaner on through the ported intake manifold and cylinders heads, to the Race Series Oiling System and *(EMIS Code 3) 618 cams, all the parts that put Feuling’s Road Glide on top of the podium are available through Drag Specialties. Feuling’s success at the track is a direct reflection of its extensive lineup of American-made parts that turn a stock Harley into a bulletproof hot rod for the streets. ■
