We don’t feel like a new year has properly begun until we’ve been to the Drag Specialties NVP in Louisville. And as you will see in this issue, not only was the Drag Specialties Magazine team there the last week of January, but many of you were as well.
In addition to the dealer hours on Saturday and Sunday, we were there on the preceding days right along with your Drag reps as they attended two full days of product education from a wide array of Drag product vendors. Be sure to check out the full NVP story beginning on page 28.
On Day 1 of our Louisville NVP, we heard the news right from the man himself that LeMans President Mike Collins is retiring after serving in that role for eight years. Mike’s career at LeMans Corporation began as a buyer over on the Parts Unlimited side in January of 1993. He then steadily rose up the ladder until becoming only the third president of the company, following founder Fred Fox, and later his son, Jeff Fox.
When Mike joined LeMans, I had actually known and worked with him for 10 years prior to that when I was head of Sales and Marketing at Bell Helmets and he was head of Purchasing at Malcolm Smith Racing Products in Riverside, California. It’s amazing now to think he and I have known each other for forty years. I’ll miss working with my old friend and wish him well as he finally takes some needed time with his family and personal projects that he will now have time to work on.
Another newsworthy happening at this year’s Louisville NVP was the live, on-site, Bagger Racing League bike build right on the show floor at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Joe Houpt from Suburban Harley-Davidson organized the build which show goers could watch happen hour-by-hour as a stock 2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide became a raceready BRL Super Street Class race bike. See the story about the build starting on page 36. ■
» We hope to see you all at the Fall 2025 NVP, which will return to the Baird Center in Milwaukee on September 6th and 7th.
Ride Safe!
Publisher / Editor-in-Chief
It’s late February and, with his retirement date on the near horizon, one might think that Mike Collins could take some time and coast a bit, being a short-timer and all. But not Collins, not as his 32-year career with LeMans Corporation is coming to a close.
In his final few weeks since announcing his retirement as President of LeMans Corporation at the Louisville NVP, Collins says he was working harder than ever to get things done before he called it a day at the end of February. “Like I told everyone here when I said I’m retiring, ‘I’m still working. I’ll work right up to the last day,’” Mike says.
In those final days, Mike took the time to talk with Drag Specialties Magazine about his long career at LeMans. “Yeah, I would have never guessed I’d be anywhere for 32 years when I was younger,” he says with a laugh.
Over the course of three decades Mike was part of the team that helped establish the Moose Racing brand, acquired THOR, started sponsoring Supercross and helped evolve the off-road segment into a cornerstone of LeMans’ business. He was onboard for the creation and success of Parts Europe, “We did what everyone said we couldn’t do,” he recalls, and witnessed Parts Canada flourish.
Story by Dennis Johnson
Mike’s tenure was not without its challenges. The 2008 economic downturn tested the company’s purchasing acumen, while more than a decade later the Covid-19 pandemic presented a myriad of obstacles, including converting to a work-from-home protocol literally overnight. Another critical moment in recent history was a major cyber-attack that the company suffered in December 2021 which took careful navigating to make a successful recovery.
There were also the challenges arising from the implementation of the company’s new Enterprise Resource Planning system, a necessary change to set LeMans up for the future, but a complex and arduous undertaking, nonetheless. And of course, there was the passing of LeMans Corporation founder Fred Fox in 2023, quite possibly the most impactful change for everyone to manage through. Throughout everything, the company persevered and emerged stronger.
“I guess I’m most proud of what’s happened while I’ve been here. Not because I did it, but because I was part of the team that did it,” he says. “Whether it was when I was in purchasing or when I moved up to this position, it was all a team effort.”
Mike first joined LeMans in 1992 as an off-road buyer after working as general manager at Kawasaki of Riverside in Southern California, and as purchasing manager at Malcolm Smith Products. He went on to become Senior buyer at LeMans, then Deputy Director of Purchasing before being named Vice President of Purchasing. In 2017, Collins was named President and CEO of the LeMans Corporation.
In reflecting on his long time with LeMans, Mike goes back to the first meeting he had with Fred Fox in 1992 about joining the company as one of the reasons he signed on at LeMans, and stayed. “Well, he was convincing, not just because of what he said, but the way we just hit it off,” he says. “It was obvious that we shared a lot of the same values, especially in how to do business and how to treat people.”
It was that culture at LeMans – starting at the top with Fred and his late son Jeff Fox – that really appealed to Collins. Be fair. Be honest. Always tell the truth. Treat vendors and customers the way you want to be treated. You can be firm, but always communicate why. Basically, living by the Golden Rule.
“And that goes back to why I stayed here so long. We’ve always had such a great team of people,” Mike says. “In the way they treated me and all the other employees and the people we get to work with.”
Back in the early days at the company, he was part of what was then a small Purchasing Department, all of them enthusiasts, the perfect place for someone who loved all things powersports and wanted a career in the industry. “We’d go riding together and racing together and go for rides after work,” Mike says. “And it was … always work, but it’s like my wife would say, ‘Well, it’s not work to you. You have fun at work.’ I do. But there’s still a lot of work. It was just the perfect job.”
Speaking of Mike’s wife, Lori, there’s a connection there directly related to LeMans – and Fred Fox. You see, shortly after joining LeMans, he was attending a get-together for sales reps at Fred’s house after an NVP watching some football. During the game, Parts Unlimited sales rep Sherry Honn who had been Mike’s rep at Kawasaki of Riverside, called him over to introduce him to a woman working as a bartender at the event. After the brief introduction, they hit it off, started dating and have now been married for 28 years and have four children.
“So, I owe Fred a lot for that. Apparently, that’s something he always mentioned. He took responsibility for introducing us. It was actually Sherry who introduced us, but it was Fred’s event, so he got some of the credit too!” Mike says laughingly.
It’s with his wife Lori, and their family, that Mike plans to enjoy his retirement. What does retirement look like for the 74-year-old Collins? There are some household projects and maintenance he can finally take the time to tackle rather than cramming it into a weekend of work. He’ll also be able to spend some more time riding motorcycles – his main hobby. He and Lori also planned on heading down to Daytona Beach for Bike Week as regular civilians. “We want to go down and see the races and probably will still stop in and see some of the folks at Destination Daytona and things like that,” he says. “But we’re just going on our own and it’ll be for pleasure.”
Mike also predicts that he’ll still be doing some kind of work. Not straight away mind you, but after he gets his neglected
to-do list taken care of and takes time to soak in the reality of retirement. “I want to stay in touch on a regular basis with the industry and the people I love, so we’ll see how that goes,” he explains. “I’ve worked my whole life. I’ve never been unemployed from about 16 years old and had paper routes before that. I’m not the cold turkey kind of guy, to just walk away from it. I just need to do a little less.”
So, all of this leads to a question some folks might have for Mike, and that’s, “Why now?” Well, for that answer you have to go back a few years to the virtual meetings the company started during Covid. Collins had long considered retiring, but the time frame was always, “A couple years,” with no firm date in mind. With Covid, the cyber-attack, Fred’s passing, some big changes in management, and his commitment to the company, Collins had wanted to stay on to see things through.
However, it was during those meetings where they discussed problems and solutions, successes and woes, that a more formal plan started to take shape. He started to see the true strength of the team that had been assembled over the years, and while there were still the ups and downs associated with any business – or life in general – there was a lot of positivity coming out of the meetings. So, knowing this, he made his official announcement.
“I started thinking about it and go, ‘We’re in a really good place.’ Like I said, there’s always going to be things and problems we have to overcome and do, and that’s just part of the job,” he says. “I feel like the company is in a good place. It’s prepared and preparing even more for the future. We’ve overcome some huge challenges, and I see us overcoming some that are still in the process of working on, and we’ve got the team to do it. We’ve got a good team, a good leader in Paul Langley. He’s done a fantastic job and yeah, I see good things ahead for both me and the company.” ■

otoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series, is pleased to announce that Drag Specialties will again be a series sponsor in 2025 while also posting over $75,000 in contingency money for the MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers series.
The 2025 season marks the fourth year Drag Specialties has offered contingency payouts, with the company consistently paying out over 65 percent of the available contingency money.
Drag Specialties’ contingency program pays the top-five finishers with first place receiving $2,500. Second place will pay $1,200, third place earns $750, and fourth- and fifthplace finishers each take home $200. Additionally, the 2025 Mission King of the Baggers Champion will receive an extra $5,000 for winning the title.
A total of $75,700 (an increase of $8,500 over the 2024 program) will be up for grabs for the 2025 series, which includes a payout of $10,100 per race weekend for the seven-round, 14-race championship.
“Everyone loves MotoAmerica’s Mission King of the Baggers class, and we’re excited to be a part of it for the fourth straight year,” said Paul Langley, Chairman/CEO LeMans Corporation. “The on-track action is awesome, and there’s a real buzz about the series as it continues to grow and get better and better. We’re excited to get to Daytona for the first round.”
Hylton Beattie, Global Motorsports Director for Drag Specialties, added, “Our V-Twin customers are part of the same passionate customer base as MotoAmerica, and our growth in this market reinforces our sponsorship of the Mission King of the Baggers.”
“Drag Specialties has been a sponsor of the Mission King of the Baggers class since 2022, and their generous contingency program continues to grow every year,” said Lance Bryson, MotoAmerica’s Director of Sponsorship. “Our relationship with Drag Specialties gets stronger every year and we look forward to the continuing growth in the 2025 championship.”
The Drag Specialties contingency payout requirements are as follows: Logos must be unobstructed, visible, and applied at all rounds; an authorized Drag Specialties patch must be worn on the rider’s leathers, either on the upper sleeve or upper front chest; and three-inch Drag Specialties decals must be present on either the side panels or tail section of the bike ■

You‘ll be forgiven if you confuse the motorcycle featured on the 2025 Parts & Accessories for Indian Motorcycles catalog cover for an all-new model from Indian Motorcycles’ stunning 2025 lineup.
In fact, Drag Specialties’ 2025 catalog cover features one of Indian Motorcycles’ top performing models – a Sport Chief that appears to be an all-new bike in Indian’s current roster. In truth that Indian catalog cover bike is a 2024 Indian Sport Chief that features many new and existing aftermarket parts from Drag Specialties’ legion of vendors featured in the Indian catalog.
Among the updated parts mix for the cover bike are direct bolton custom components, plus a variety of over-the-counter parts and accessories that were slightly modified specifically for this 2024 Sport Chief’s appearance. All modifications, and the completed bike itself, were modified and assembled by Music City Indian Motorcycle in Nashville, Tennessee.
MCI’s owner, Kameron Amstutz, orchestrated the project that was assembled by the shop’s band of technicians, including Jeff Casey, Eli Smith and Joey Steadman. The bike’s premier took place at Drag Specialties’ recent Louisville NVP.
Before we begin our walk-around for the bike, here’s something interesting – it’s the first dedicated custom-built Indian to appear on the annual Indian catalog. As such, dealers and their customers have access to the same bolt-on aftermarket parts and accessories that were incorporated
into this bike build. Doing so furthers Drag Specialties’ slogan, “From Our Garage to Yours.”
One more item to consider. The bike’s build list also includes some, gasp, Harley-Davidson parts. Of course, those Harleyspecific parts are available in the FatBook, so they’re accessible for overnight delivery to Drag dealers and their valued customers. The purpose, Amstutz explained, for tapping both the Indian catalog and the FatBook was to get the exact look the shop wanted for the cover bike.
Naturally certain modifications to those cross-bred parts were necessary to fit them onto this Indian-brand motorcycle. We’ll get to those special assembly tricks later, but for now, know that MCI’s team gave this catalog cover bike a new and fresh look. In the process MCI retained not only the Sport Chief’s distinct and sporty appearance, but also its favored ride and performance. Over the past decade, both of these traits – ride and performance – have helped boost Indian Motorcycles’ reputation within America’s V-Twin market.
than a show
To see how MCI transformed this box-stock motorcycle, let’s start at the engine. There’s no question that the Sport Chief’s 116 cubic-inch V-Twin power plant pumps out plenty of torque. Even so, MCI decided to ramp up the fun factor some more, and in typical Music City fashion; our featured Sport Chief now plays a catchy tune, courtesy of S&S Cycle’s bolt-on *(EMIS Code 3) Qualifier 2-into-1 collector exhaust system. Naturally, the Sport Chief’s stock, and somewhat restrictive, air cleaner had to go, replaced by Arlen Ness Customs’ all-new Velocity 90-Degree intake air cleaner for improved breathing. Moreover, its matching black finish goes well with the S&S exhaust.
The S&S Cycles 2-into-1 made quite a hit with the MCI crew, too. “The first time we fired up the bike and heard that sound, everyone around the bike had a big smile and the same thought, ‘We need to ride this thing’,” Amstutz said. Truly music to everyone’s ears who happened to be in Music City Indian Motorcycle’s shop that day.
The engine’s new exhaust tone begged for some accompanying raw-bone styling cues that favor the West Coast look. That, of course, meant replacing the stock handlebar assembly with a THRASHIN Supply black mid-bend 1-inch handlebar atop a slick Slyfox 8-inch billet aluminum black riser kit. Arlen Ness Customs was also the source for replacement mirrors, this time a pair of Teardrop mirrors to match the PSR Anthem Pro adjustable black hand levers that, in turn, go with the ODI Vans V-Twin Lock-on black handgrips. While up in the cockpit a glance downward reveals Rough Crafts’ black brake shift peg and left foot peg, both fitted with Drag Specialties’ innovative footpeg spring washers.
The handlebar swap was easier said than done, however, requiring some time-consuming fitting by Music City Indian Motorcycles’ band of technicians. Perhaps the biggest hurdle was in maintaining the bike’s original wiring for the gauges and other electronic features found on today’s motorcycles.
With the intake airflow improved by the Ness air cleaner, the S&S Cycle *(EMIS Code 3) Qualifier 2-1 helps improve the exhaust game.
Their efforts helped them retain the stock gauges, while also incorporating some additional packaged wiring that fits the Custom Dynamics lighting upgrades.
“Most of all we wanted to get rid of the stock headlight and turn signals, which always look bulky and awkward on any custom build,” Amstutz said. They opted for Custom Dynamics’ TruWRAPZ 360-degree smoke LE fork light for 56mm housings. The team also switched out the Indian’s stock turn signals with Kodlin USA’s 3-1 smooth black bullet indicators.
Some subtle styling modifications included slightly re-positioning the bike’s fairing to better blend in with the bike’s silhouette. The fairing’s side vents were enlarged enough to give the bike some additional styling character. Up front sits a Klock Werks Hugger front fender. “Forever Rad and SIK did a little reshaping to get it to the look the way we wanted, too,” Amstutz said.
On the rear fender, Kodlin Neowise 3-1 smooth black bullet rear indicators blend in with the bike’s re-positioned rear fender and stock suspension. The Saddlemen Renegade smooth solo seat further amplified the bike’s aggressive look. Within easy reach for the rider is an SP Connect black pro phone mount with a matching universal phone clamp for easy use.
Like the Sport Chief’s engine, the suspension was left stock. The Sport Chief’s ride is plenty good, so attention was reserved for dressing up the bike’s cast aluminum wheels. The MCI crew had Forever Rad and SIK give the OEM wheels a ceramic coating of Burnt Bronze Cerakote Finish. The team mounted a set of Metzeler Cruisetec tires (130/60B19 front, 180/60R16 rear) to the reconditioned wheels and added Galfer brake rotors. Up front you’ll find a Galfer one-piece

stainless solid-mount rotor matched with a two-piece Galfer stainless floating rear rotor.
All of this leads to the bike’s unique paint scheme. The topcoat is Mopar Green paired with bronze graphics. Well, we know what they say about green paint jobs on motorcycles, but our bet is on this green monster out of Music City Indian. After all, this Sport Chief’s good fortune was to serve as Drag Specialties first-ever customized Indian motorcycle to be featured on the annual parts and accessories catalog for Indian motorcycles. Clearly a good omen. ■
Riding in comfort shouldn’t mean sacrificing style.
The seat on a motorcycle is one of the first things many riders want to swap out when they’re looking to get a more comfortable ride, and it’s also one of the easiest ways to change the look of a bike. With a seat like the Road Sofa from Saddlemen, riders can express themselves and get outstanding comfort all in one seat. Now, there are two new stitch patterns for the Road Sofa, including the Tri-Gripper and Dragon Scale.
Both of these distinctive new stitch styles were introduced at the Louisville NVP. Saddlemen VP of Design and Marketing Rob Schlueter says the response to the styles was great, but he’s not willing to declare which one was the most popular, saying it was too close to tell.
The Tri-Gripper stitch is a geometric design featuring triangles while the curved, nested lines of the Dragon Scale stitch make it easy to see where the name comes
from. The Road Sofa seats with these new stitch designs are available for 2023-2025 Harley-Davidson Touring models. In addition to finding these stitch styles on the seat, they’re also featured on the coordinating backrest and sissy bar pad.
The Road Sofa was designed to be a luxe Touring seat, giving riders and passengers alike premium comfort even on long-distance journeys. Since the seat is the biggest connection point between the rider and the road, having the right one is vital, especially when riders are going hundreds of miles in a single day.
In addition to the comfort of a Road Sofa, there are also a lot of options to make sure there’s a version to suit everyone. Optional backrests, Tour-Pak pads and sissy bar pads add more back support, and the extended seat is ideal for taller riders who want a little more legroom. That extended version is also available with the Tri-Gripper and Dragon Scale

stitch patterns. There are even heated Road Sofa seats for those who will be riding through cold climates.
Even without all the fancy extras, the Road Sofa provides incredible comfort. This is achieved through both the design of the seat as well as the materials used in its construction. In the design department, the Road Sofa has tall lumbar support and a wide driver seating area. This ample platform is combined with a streamlined nose, so reaching the ground is effortless. The seat is also designed to relieve pressure on the tailbone and back, so at the end of a long day of riding, getting off the bike doesn’t include a lot of aches or complaints.
Saddlemen’s Road Sofa seats with the Dragon Scale and Tri-Gripper stitch designs are available for 2023-2025 HarleyDavidson Touring models.
And, while off the bike, the included rain cover can be put in place to keep the elements at bay.
The real secret to the Road Sofa’s high level of comfort is Saddlemen’s proprietary Gel-Core Technology. It is used in both the driver and passenger seating areas, so passengers will be just as happy with the ride.
Gel-Core Technology features SaddleGel, which has a formulation that allows it to dampen, divert and deflect energy from the road. SaddleGel provides an expert blend of cushioning and stability, conforming to the rider’s body to reduce pressure points that could cause discomfort.
In testing, the Saddlemen team found that Gel-Core Technology provides a significant improvement in comfort for riders compared to a stock foam seat. A Saddlemen seat with Gel-Core Technology enables a rider to comfortably stay on the road up to 400 percent longer while generating up to 92 percent less road shock and 50 percent less road vibration.
In addition to Gel-Core Technology, each Road Sofa also utilizes Saddlemen’s Ultra-Foam. This foam is designed for comfort as well as durability, so riders can put on the miles without the seat’s shape or comfort level degrading. Plus, the foam is sealed from water and other elements thanks to a self-skinning process that occurs during the molding stage.
In addition to the Tri-Gripper and Dragon Scale stitch patterns, the Road Sofa is also available in a wide range of additional stitch options plus a smooth version. Riders who want even more creative control of their seat can customize a Road Sofa with Saddlemen’s Custom Seat Program. This program allows dealers to help the customer pick their seat, stitch style, stitch color and other elements, then easily order it via Drag Specialties. ■

Jesse Jurrens has two big milestones to celebrate this year. He just turned 50, and it’s the 25th anniversary of his company, Legend Suspensions. Like a lot of entrepreneurial success stories, Jesse’s own story has had its fair share of ups and downs, growth and refocusing.
For Jesse, success began with faith that the V-Twin industry would take a chance on air suspension. He was a 21-year-old back in 1997, and he wanted the ability to lower his Softail without sacrificing the ride quality. He’d seen air shocks in the hot rod scene, but no one was offering it for V-Twins.
The case for V-Twin air suspension was easy. “You could have it sit really low and raise it up with an onboard compressor,” Jesse explains. “You could adjust it to carry more weight or a passenger. You could adjust it at your fingertips to what you needed. You could set it to the way you liked it.”
Jesse got to work on the prototype in his parents’ basement. After a couple years, Jesse was ready to introduce L8 Softail air suspension to the world, and his business was formally founded in 2000.
As it turned out, developing the product was only the first hurdle. “You couldn’t get funding,” Jesse recalls. “We just weren’t a company that was financeable at a regular institution, and I didn’t want to bring on investors. We tried to be efficient.”
Not only was funding hard, but so was convincing suppliers and customers that air suspension was a viable option. “It’s a technology no one else had used in the motorcycle industry, so my suppliers were skeptical,” Jesse says. However, after racking up more than a million miles of testing, he was confident in his product, and he kept pushing forward.
That faith paid off in 1998, when Jesse got one of his first big breaks in the industry. Jesse had sent Hot Bike editor Howard Kelly an air suspension setup, and Howard was so impressed that it won the magazine’s “Most Innovative Product of the Year” honor.
The company began to grow, and in 2002, Legend Suspensions made its debut in the FatBook with four part numbers for Softail air suspension.
After creating a range of rear suspension products, Legend Suspensions turned its focus to a Harley-Davidson's frontend with the launch of the AXEO performance front suspension.
“They understand how Legend operates, our customer service and how we go out there and sell it with the reps literally every week.”
The new suspension products developed during this time garnered Jesse the title of “Black Hills Manufacturer of the Year” in 2011. Things were beginning to look up again.
The REVO and REVO-A coil suspension lines gained in popularity in the following years. New products were introduced, too, like the AXEO performance front suspension. And, notably, production time was improved, with lead times going from 8-10 weeks down to just 1-3 weeks.
At the same time, Jesse continued to earn accolades, including “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” from the Small Business Administration and “Best New Product of the Year” from Easyriders
After so much recognition, and the proven quality and reliability of air suspension, Legend Suspensions was finally on the map, and riders were loving the convenience, adjustability and comfort.
With the economic downturn in 2008, Legend Suspensions found itself in a tough time, like so many other V-Twin companies. Never one to give up, Jesse weathered the storm by downsizing his staff and making a strategic move to Sturgis, South Dakota, where the company is still headquartered today.
Jesse also refocused on the suspension that had gotten him off the ground in the first place. At the same time, Legend Suspensions also began getting to know their dealers better by sending staff along on rides with Drag reps. That’s still going on today, with reps covering both the U.S. and Canada.
“For 15 years we’ve ridden with every rep at least once a year, including dual reps and Parts reps,” Jesse explains.
Jesse was inducted into the Sturgis Hall of Fame in 2014, as Legend Suspensions continued to grow by making strategic decisions and building a talented team. During 2020, Legend Suspensions had an overall growth rate of 57 percent. Legend Suspensions also became one of the top five vendors with Drag Specialties.
Jesse continues to be the visionary for Legend Suspensions and monitors the industry for inspiration on the next innovative product. Most recently, AXEO Comfort front suspension was released, and UTV air suspension for utility use was introduced at the 2025 Louisville NVP.
Now, as the company celebrates its 25th anniversary, Jesse is optimistic about the state of the V-Twin industry. But, for him, focusing on his own business is most important. He wants to make sure Legend Suspensions is set up for continued success.
“We’re definitely investing heavily in the future, and we’re always mainly focused on continuous improvement for ourselves and our processes, and that translates to our products,” Jesse says. “We focus on quality and service. After 25 years, that’s really what we’re all about: continued improvement. That shows in our products and our customer service.” ■

While winter means many riders across the country hang up their helmets for the season, their local Drag Specialties dealers and retailers are using that time to get a jump-start on the sales season. That means getting the full scoop on all the parts, apparel and accessories that’ll keep the doors swinging when riding season officially kicks off.
And the one place to do that is the event that serves as the center of the powersports aftermarket universe just a few short months into the new year, the Drag Specialties Louisville NVP Product Expo. For two jam-packed days in January, Drag dealers, sales reps, and vendors from around the country streamed into the cavernous Kentucky International Convention Center for in-depth new product education and a hands-on look at the latest and greatest from top V-Twin brands.
The 2025 Spring show marked the fifth year of the expo and featured a diverse range of new products and brands, providing dealers with exclusive discounts and incentives. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with industryleading brand representatives and explore the latest innovations in the market. Notably, the event included E-bike demonstrations, E-bike sales, and a drawing on Sunday where two E-bikes were given away to dealers.
"The Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties NVP Expo continues to solidify its position as a premier gathering for industry professionals, innovation, and the exchange of expertise," said Paul Devine, Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
Dealers should note that before the doors ever opened to the showfloor, their Drag sales reps were undergoing two full days of intense team product training with such companies
as Alpinestars, Bel-Ray, BS Battery, Drag Specialties Seats, DP Brakes, Ciro, Custom Dynamics, Dunlop, Fat Baggers Inc., Feuling, ICON, Klock Werks, Kodlin USA, Magnum Shielding, Muc-Off, NAMZ, Nelson-Rigg, Saddlemen, SP Connect, Trask Performance, and Vance & Hines
The knowledge gained during these sessions translated seamlessly onto the expo floor, where the sales teams introduced new products to their dealers.
The energy was palpable from the moment the show opened and dealers and their reps poured into the convention hall in the annual ritual that kicks off the spring riding season. And, as always, the NVP was as much a homecoming and reunion of friends and colleagues as it was a business opportunity. With all that going for it, the show was a huge success.
On Saturday evening, participants gathered for the iconic Meet & Greet at the Sports & Social Club, located in Louisville's vibrant 4th Street Live Entertainment District. The event offered a blend of food, drinks, games, and live entertainment, fostering networking and camaraderie among the gathered industry professionals.
Looking ahead, the next NVP Expo is scheduled for September 6-7, 2025, at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Milwaukee aims to continue to accommodate a growing number of exhibitors and attendees, offering an expanded space for future events.
» Talk with your Drag Specialties sales rep for details about attending the show in Milwaukee.
Each NVP Product Expo is an immersive experience for Drag Specialties dealers and sales reps alike. Not only does the show afford a hands-on look at the latest V-Twin products, parts and accessories, the event also features intensive product training with key vendors. Before the show opens, Drag reps participate in two days of first-hand product presentations that give them targeted details and brand information. On Saturday, the dealers then got the opportunity to attend product training with some of the FatBook’s top vendors. Todd Olson and Dennis Johnson photos

Pause for a breather … After keeping things moving smoothly during Saturday’s
Racers and crews know how important the packing list is for a weekend at the track. Repairs sometimes have to be made on the fly, and having the right parts and tools on hand is a must to get everything done.
Luckily, Rob Buydos and Joe Houpt both have a lot of racing experience, so they went into the Louisville NVP with everything needed to build an entire race bike in just two days. They turned a stock 2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide into a competition bike ready for the Drag Specialties Bagger Racing League’s Super Street Class, all on the show floor. Every single product that went on the bike came out of the FatBook catalog.
The idea came about last August, during the Milwaukee NVP. Rather than a traditional display about the Bagger Racing League (BRL), why not build a bike that’s ready to roll onto the grid? That prompted months of planning to make sure the right parts and tools were delivered to Louisville NVP for a busy two days of building.
Houpt, who is the Vice-President for Suburban Harley-Davidson, already fields a team in the series, and he jumped in to provide the Road Glide and a crew of three to handle the build.
As the CEO of the BRL, Buydos wanted to show dealers and vendors alike that building a V-Twin race bike can be straightforward, as well as economical. Whether a dealer wants to field their own entry or help a customer prep for a race, it’s as simple as starting with the FatBook
“With Drag Specialties being our title sponsor since the very first race we ever did in 2020, everybody is really familiar with the FatBook and knows the companies in the FatBook are truly performance-based companies,” says Buydos. “They used only the catalog as they went through category by category.”
In fact, the real challenge of using the FatBook was deciding which vendor in each category to use. Once a wish list was compiled, Buydos and Houpt approached each vendor to ask if they wanted to participate in the project.
“Everyone was more than willing,” says Houpt. “Everyone puts in a little bit, and you come out with a really nice project.”
Companies like Alloy Art and S&S Cycle are no strangers to racing, and Houpt was quick to call on them for assistance. Bassani Xhaust is already a popular exhaust supplier for BRL competitors, making that company a natural fit. Drag Specialties was a big part of the build, too, providing a list of items that included brake lines and fork tubes.
Not surprisingly, the build drew a lot of attention on the show floor. In fact, Buydos says, repeat visits were the norm. “They would come back to see where we were at, then come an hour or two later,” he says. “That made it enjoyable for us because we could see the interest and the excitement. We finished it by noon on Sunday and every goal we had was accomplished.”
Using a Handy Lift for easy maneuvering, parts and products from 25 vendors were put on the Road Glide. At a glance, it’s easy to spot a lot of the upgrades, like the Bridgestone tires, Slyfox carbon fiber elements, RoxSpeed risers, ODI bars and grips, and Hoppe Industries bodywork. Up front, the BRLRace Bubble Windshield was crafted by Memphis Shades specifically for the series. The suspension got an overhaul thanks to Legend Suspensions and Arlen Ness.
Houpt notes that since all these products are available in the FatBook, dealers who are involved with the series can see an instant return on their efforts. “I can directly relate it to my customers,” he says. “We’ve built some streetbikes for guys that are developed through our racing, using the same products.”
With the continued popularity of Performance Baggers, that means the same engine mods that were made to the Road Glide are likely to wind up on customer bikes, too. Products like the Barnett and Burly Brand clutch components, Andrews pushrods, Cometic gaskets, Motion Pro hoses, Ultracool oil filter and Fueling oil pump are all performance upgrades street riders can appreciate. The Darkhorse Motor Company sprocket and Baker Drivetrain chain adjuster help deliver all that extra power to the rear wheel.
Those parts were designed to make a bike go faster, but precision stopping is a must, too. Galfer USA, Hawg Halters, Inc. and Performance Machine all lent their expertise to the Road Glide build.
Once the Road Glide’s transformation was complete, it was time to add BelRay lubricants, followed by a visit to a Dyno to get the Dynojet *(EMIS Code 3) tuning module dialed in.
Race fans can look for the bike at BRL races this season with its new owner, Lifestyle Cycles. Buydos expects them to have plenty of competition. He says, “This is year 5 for the BRL, and we’re really excited. So many dealers we talked to at the show mentioned they were also building a bike for this. We think we’ll see a nice surge in competitors in 2025.”
And, for dealers who want to support the series without fielding a bike, there are plenty of ways to help. “Come out to the races!” says Houpt. “Watch it on YouTube. Get involved with it, and share and like the posts online. Everything helps us get the momentum going.”

The High Performance Turn Signals have fitments for Dyna, Low Rider ST, M8 Softail, Softail, and Sportster models. These aggressively styled LED turn signals feature brilliant dual-density illumination. The bright white running lights and full-contrast amber turn signals are set behind a smoked lens, and they are housed in a gloss black or dark bronze metal housing. The plug-and-play design makes it easy to install these modern, durable and DOT-compliant signals.
One of the quickest ways to update the look of a V-Twin is to swap out the stock lighting. As one would expect from Custom Dynamics, the latest lighting solutions from the company blend visibility, technology and style to give riders brilliant illumination and a modern look.
Louisville NVP attendees were treated to a first look at three new Custom Dynamics lighting products for HarleyDavidsons, including high-performance turn signals, a taillight eliminator kit and a Tour Pak light.
Rob Malenfant, National Rep Sales Lead for Custom Dynamics, was on hand all weekend. “The response from dealers and reps at our booth was overwhelmingly positive. One dealer mentioned how much she loved the aggressive styling and bright visibility of the turn signals, and she was especially pleased with how easy they are to install thanks to the plug and play connectors,” Malenfant said. “Another dealer from Indiana raved about the Tour Pak Light, calling it ‘incredible’ and highlighting how the running light pipes add a modern touch, while the customizable turn signal modes are both practical and fun. We’re thrilled to bring these innovative products to market this year.”
The Taillight Eliminator License Plate Mount replaces the OEM taillight baseplate and gives the rear of the bike a sleek upgrade. An included wiring harness works with the OEM rear turn signal connections as well as the Custom Dynamics Radius LED Motorcycle License Plate Frame. A decorative Triangle Cover is a stylish way to cover the three-hole bolt pattern from the OEM license plate bracket. The cover is included in the Taillight Eliminator kit but is also available separately. Riders can choose either gloss black or chrome for the finish.
Custom Dynamics also introduced its redesigned LED Tour Pak Light at Louisville NVP. This bright, modern design features the company’s ProBEAM lighting, with light pipes that wrap around the Tour Pak edge. In addition to amping up the style of the bike, both rear and side visibility are increased, too. On the back, a center row of red LEDs illuminates as a brake light. On the sides, additional red LEDs act as full-contrast brake lights and customizable turn signals. There are three turn signal modes to choose from, plus a choice of red or smoked lenses. ■

Updating a classic motorcycle tire takes a careful blend of honoring its heritage while also introducing modern technologies, compounds and sizing. The work is worth it, though, when V-Twin riders are rewarded with a tire that has iconic looks and all the longevity, handling and stability available in a modern tire.
That winning combination is what Avon Tyres achieved with the Cobra Chrome tire. And, for riders who really want to lean into that old-school style, Cobra Chrome white wall tires are available in 14 different sizes.
“These white walls are very popular with our custom, cruiser and touring customers. Riders get the performance of our legendary Cobra Chrome design along with an enhanced style aesthetic,” says Don Argento, Manager Motorcycle Sales & Marketing North America for Avon.
The Cobra Chrome tire was designed to suit a wide range of motorcycles, from older V-Twins to fully loaded Baggers and even custom builds. That means there is an extensive range of sizes available. For the white wall options, there are five front tire sizes and nine for the rear.
In addition to the optional white wall look, the Cobra Chrome tire pays homage to the original, iconic Cobra tire by incorporating its snakeskin pattern. Underneath those

distinctive markers to the original Cobra tire, the Cobra Chrome’s tread and carcass design both enhance maneuverability, matching the capabilities of modern V-Twins.
Plus, riders can expect predictable, precise feedback and handling. One of the technologies found in the Cobra Chrome tire is Avon’s Enhanced Stability System, which reduces tire flex for a stable ride.
Stability also gets a boost from Avon’s Advanced Variable Belt Density technology in the rear tire. A densely wrapped belt in the center of the rear tire is paired with shoulder belts that are less densely wrapped, creating a larger contact patch and increased durability, too. Wear resistance also comes by way of the Force Following Grooves in the tread design.
While stability and durability are both hallmarks of a modern tire, so is confidence-inspiring performance in the rain. The Cobra Chrome tire was designed with Avon’s Enhanced Aqua Flow (EAF) design in the tread for optimal water dispersal. Between EAF and the specialized compounds, braking distances in the wet are improved compared to the original Cobra tire. ■

With their snakeskin-effect tread, Avon Cobra Chrome tyres certainly stand out. And with a 5% larger tyre footprint you can expect better traction and shorter stopping distances, even in the wet. Available in a wide range of sizes including WhiteWalls, Avon Cobra Chrome can help you make your mark.
YTHRASHIN’s new top and bottom triple trees fit the 2024
Road Glides and are not only great looking, but they also help improve front-end rigidity for better handling.
our customers love to customize their bikes by altering the style and modifying the ergonomics for a personalized fit. THRASHIN Supply is a go-to brand for components that check both of those boxes. THRASHIN’s premium American-made parts and accessories like handlebars and risers improve the look and comfort of your customers’ V-Twins, and now THRASHIN has beautiful, high-performance top and bottom triple trees to finish out those cockpit upgrades.
THRASHIN’s new top and bottom triple trees fit the 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glides and can be used individually or as a set. They provide two mounting points for the risers and will accept the factory ignition switch and steering lock. “We’ve been developing these for nearly 9 months,” says THRASHIN owner Lance Coury. “They’ve taken a lot of work, but it’s an innovative design that we’re really excited about.”
As they should be! These parts start life as solid slabs of American 6061 billet aluminum that are CNC milled into parts that could pass as industrial sculpture. While the stock, cast top triple is hidden under a boring plastic cover that’s meant to blend it with the dash, THRASHIN’s top triple deserves to be shown off as the centerpiece of your customer’s cockpit. Relieved for maximum weight savings, strength and visual appeal, the top and bottom trees are available in hard-anodized black and glossy triple-nickel chrome to match the look of your client’s bike.
Stunning appearance aside, these parts help improve frontend rigidity for better handling and also offer innovative
features that help riders refine the look and fit of their bikes. “With the top triple you get two mounting locations for your risers,” explains THRASHIN’s lead engineer, Juan Arceo. “You can bolt the risers in the stock position, or we’ve provided a second set of holes that are about an inch and a quarter back.” That gives your customers more options, whether their existing risers are straight or pulled back.
“Another piece of feedback we got from our customers is that they wanted to use the stock lock and key on our product,” says Lance. “With that in mind, we were careful to design the top triple to accept the factory ignition switch and retain the steering lock.”
The way THRASHIN’s top triple accommodates two riser locations and the OEM key – with a sleek aesthetic maintained in any configuration – is impressive. For starters, the kit comes with block-off plates to cover the unused riser holes. So, whether the front or back locations are used, the top triple has a unified, streamlined appearance. The radius and bevel on the covers match the machined lines on the top triple, so they blend right in.
The covers also conceal the bolts that secure the blockoff for the stock ignition switch. If your customers opt to relocate their ignition, the block-off keeps the top triple nearly seamless. With the OEM ignition installed in the recess, the riser-hole covers frame it on either side, covering the bolts so everything looks clean and tidy.
“The stock ignition is kind of this ugly green color that stands out,” says Lance, “so we went ahead and designed
a carbon fiber ignition cover to finish things off.” Sold separately, the cover is available in conventional twill or forged carbon fiber. “It’s real carbon, looks super good, and covers the lock nicely,” Lance adds.
Style and adjustability? Check. THRASHIN’s top triple also helps stiffen up that Road Glide’s steering with dual fork pinch bolts and a broader clamping surface. The stock setup has a single pinch bolt for each fork tube. It gets the job done, but isn’t ideal for more aggressive riding.
These stylish new parts are sold separately, so your customers can opt for just the top triple or go all-in with a matched set. If the bottom tree is used, the stock steering stem will need to be installed. “We definitely recommend using the top tree and bottom tree together since it’s
THRASHIN designed its new top triple tree to be adjustable, offering riders two mounting locations for their risers. Customers can bolt up to the stock location, or to a second set of holes about 1¼ inches back, allowing for fine tuning bar positioning.
going to improve the strength of the front end of your bike,” says Lance. That translates to improved handling, especially while braking.
This new top tree and bottom tree for the 2024 Road Glide expands THRASHIN’s lineup of triple trees, which already includes applications for the 2014-2023 Road Glide and Softails. The parts join THRASHIN’s existing range of premium, ergonomic-improving parts such as the High, Mid, and Low Bend Bars, a huge menu of risers, and a variety of foot controls. As always, everything is proudly made right here in the United States. ■

Many Harley-Davidson owners change their air cleaner and exhaust pipe as soon as they buy a bike, but if you have customers who haven’t upgraded yet, let them know about S&S Cycles’ Stealth air cleaner kits. These assemblies improve airflow for better power and throttle response, and are available for nearly every Harley model, from older carbureted bikes to late model Twin Cams and of course Milwaukee-Eights.
S&S Cycles is famous for its performance parts, and the Stealth air cleaner kits are one of the easiest and most effective mods your customers can do. The Stealth air cleaner systems help usher more air into the engine, which means more torque at the rear wheel. While stock air
For older bikes, S&S Cycle offers the Stealth kit with a Super E carburetor, a combination of two of the company’s popular products.
filters use restrictive paper elements with minimal pleating, the S&S Stealth kits use breathable fabric that features many more folds for a huge increase in overall filtering area. The air filters are also washable and reusable, and your customers have the option of upgrading to a taller element for even more area and flow.
S&S Cycles’ Stealth air cleaner kits are an easy and effective upgrade for those customers wanting to improve airflow for better power and throttle response.
Air moves fastest over smooth surfaces, so S&S equipped the Stealth system with a radiused inlet where it meets the carb or throttle body, plus a tapered stinger on the backside of the cover. Compared to the squared-off edges in the stock filter housing, these aerodynamic surfaces expedite airflow and reduce turbulence for a maximum intake efficiency. The result is crisper throttle response and more air into the cylinders. Better still, most Stealth air cleaner kits are 50-state legal.
Stealth air cleaner kits are available to fit a big range of Harley models and will accept a wide range of covers, including the stock part or S&S’s popular Airstream, Mini Teardrop and Air 1 covers. As far as power mods go, the Stealth kits are affordable and easy to install, so the performance-tocost ratio is off the charts.
S&S hasn’t forgotten the cool older bikes that are still rolling around, either. “Recently, S&S Cycle introduced Stealth kits that come with a *(EMIS Code 3) Super E or *(EMIS Code 3) Super G carburetor,” says Matt VandenHeuvel, content marketing specialist at S&S Cycles. “These kits combine our best carburetor with our best air cleaner system.” The Super E Stealth Kits are the ideal combo for your sub-100 CI Evo or early Twin Cam machine, while the Super G works best on engines over 100 CI.
Stealth Air Cleaner Kits include a performance polymer backplate, washable and reusable filter element, top cover, installation hardware, and instructions. They can be purchased as just the air filter assembly or kitted with any of 15 possible S&S filter covers. ■

When it comes to squeezing every ounce of performance out of a Harley-Davidson FL, the devil is in the details. Trask Performance knows this well, which is why the company engineered the Trask Titanium Axle Kit to deliver more than just strength – it’s about transforming your customers’ rides from the ground up.
Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, this axle isn’t just a lightweight swap, it’s a precision-engineered performance upgrade designed to reduce unsprung weight. Less unsprung weight means the suspension can react faster, improving handling, acceleration and braking. The result is a bike that feels sharper, more responsive and smoother whether your customers are carving through canyons, tearing up the track or cruising long stretches of highway.
Reducing unsprung weight has a domino effect on performance. It not only allows the suspension to work more efficiently, but also enhances cornering stability and ride comfort. Customers will notice quicker directional changes with less effort, giving them more control and confidence at higher speeds. The difference is subtle but significant. It’s the kind of upgrade felt in every twist of the throttle and every lean into a turn.
The Trask Titanium Axle is also built to withstand the elements, offering durability and corrosion resistance that outlasts traditional steel components. Titanium’s natural resistance to rust and wear means this axle performs just as well after thousands of miles as it did on day one.
Why titanium? It’s not just a material; it’s a performance philosophy. Titanium offers an exceptional strength-to-weight
ratio, meaning it delivers the durability of steel at a fraction of the weight. Plus, it adds a sleek, highperformance look that sets your Harley apart from the rest.
Riders who have made the switch to the Trask Titanium Axle Kit often report a newfound connection to the road. The bike feels more planted, with a tighter, more responsive feel that turns ordinary rides into extraordinary experiences.
The Trask Titanium Axle Kit includes the axle crafted from Grade 5 titanium as well as titanium axle nuts and a pinch bolt, all engineered for secure, reliable fastening with added durability. For added safety, tie wire provisions and tie wire are included to
ensure components stay locked in place under the most demanding conditions.
Designed to be a direct replacement for the stock axle, installation is straightforward. No special modifications are needed; just bolt it on and feel the difference. The precision machining ensures a perfect fit, maintaining optimal alignment and load distribution.
Trask Performance doesn’t believe in compromises. Every product the company designs is built with one goal in mind – to help riders go faster, ride harder and perform better. Their team consists of passionate riders and engineers who test their products under the most demanding conditions, ensuring they perform flawlessly when it matters most. ■

The Mission King of the Baggers will take on a European look in 2025 with both of the big players – Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle –bringing in riders from the other side of the pond to ride for their factory teams.
With former World Superbike, MotoAmerica Superbike and MotoGP racer Loris Baz being announced as the third rider on the Indian “Wrecking Crew” team for the coming season, another announcement came at press time that the HarleyDavidson/Dynojet Factory Racing team had a European rider of their own as Brit Bradley Smith will join the squad for the 2025 season.
Baz will join defending MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers Champion Troy Herfoss and 2020 King of the Baggers Champion Tyler O’Hara on the three-rider, Indian Challengermounted team.
Baz finished fifth in last year’s MotoAmerica Superbike Championship on a factory Ducati Panigale V4 R but was looking for a ride at season’s end when the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati team announced that they would run just one Superbike in 2025, and it would be ridden by defending Superbike champion Josh Herrin.
Baz was part of a tryout/test with Indian and he was fast. Thus, he will line up with Herfoss and O’Hara on the #76 Indian Challenger as the first Frenchman to take part in the V-Twin series.
When Smith, 35, lines up at Daytona, it will be for his MotoAmerica debut. The well-traveled Brit has competed in MotoGP, Moto2, MotoE, 125cc GP (now Moto3), World Supersport and the World Superbike Championship. He most recently served as a test rider for the BMW World Superbike effort.
Smith will join 2021 Mission King of the Baggers Champion Kyle Wyman and James Rispoli for the series opener at Daytona International Speedway before the team reportedly will slim down to just Wyman and Smith for the rest of the season.
RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson will field the same team as a year ago. The 2023 Mission King of the Baggers Champion Hayden Gillim will again be teamed with rising star Rocco Landers, who ended the 2024 season fourth in the series standings with two victories late in the season.
The Saddlemen Race Developments team will also stay the same for 2025 with Cory West and Jake Lewis set to ride the team’s Harley-Davidson Road Glides.
New to the class is South African Cameron Petersen. Petersen will see double duty this year as he will ride the SDI Racing Indian Challenger and will make his debut in the class at Daytona. Petersen will also ride a Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati Panigale V2 in the MotoAmerica Motovation Supersport Championship.
TAB Performance Racing will field Kyle Ohnsorg on an Indian Challenger with perennial privateer Max Flinders returning to the class on his Lyndall Brakes/M3 Harley-Davidson Road Glide.
Eight Harley-Davidson Road Glides and five Indian Challengers will be on the grid for the series-opening Daytona round. ■
There’s something special about getting an overwhelmingly positive reception to new products, especially when it happens in person. The team at Kodlin USA came away from the Louisville NVP feeling excited about the response from reps and dealers, who were enthusiastic about the company’s latest products. All weekend, attendees were treated to a look at the latest products designed with the distinctive Kodlin USA style and quality.
Among those new products were the Ascent Pro Pullback Risers and Aluminum Trackbars for Harley-Davidson Touring models, but those weren’t the only products that had show attendees talking.
“The positive response from the Drag sales team and dealers to the new products we launched at the Louisville NVP is simply described in one word – awesome!” says Holger Mohr, Co-Founder and President of Kodlin USA Inc. “Everybody seemed to be excited about the products we developed for the new Harley-Davidson Touring bikes. Besides our new Aluminum Trackbars and the Ascent Pro Risers, they all seemed to love the Water Reservoir Cover, Horn Relocation Kit, Master Cylinder Cover and Saddlebag Latch Covers; all unique in their respective categories.”
Len Kodlin designed the Ascent Pro Pullback Risers to have a clean look, with internal wiring, a 1¼-inch clamp size
and a 1½-inch pullback. The billet aluminum risers are CNC machined for a precision fit on 2024-25 Road Glides, 2023-2025 Road Glide CVO models and other Harleys with 3½-inch on-center handlebars. Plus, the machining features the “Kodlin Signature” lines for a distinctive style touch. Riders can choose between a black anodized or chrome finish, and both 8-inch and 10-inch heights are available.
For riders on Harleys with a round speedometer, such as the 2022-2025 Low Rider S, the Ascent Pro Pullback Risers pair well with a Kodlin Round Gauge Bezel Kit. For 2025, Harley-Davidson has moved to a round speedo for all their Softail models, so the Round Gauge Bezel Kit will also work with 2025 models like the Lowrider ST, Street Bob, Breakout and Softail Standard when switching to an Ascent Pro Riser. Kodlin also developed a Digital Gauge Bezel Kit for its risers to work with 2022-2024 Lowrider ST or 2018-24 Street Bob models.
Speaking of perfect pairings, the new Aluminum Trackbars are a great match with the Ascent risers or the Kodlin Fastback risers. Featuring 4 inches of rise and 4 inches of pullback, these aluminum bars are drilled and slotted for internal wiring, and the laseretched Kodlin Motorcycles logo is a subtle nod to the brand.
Like the Ascent risers, these trackbars come in choices of black or chrome to suit a rider’s style. Both 1-inch and 1¼-inch bar clamp sizes are available, too, making them compatible with the 1-inch Kodlin Fastback Risers and 1¼-inch Ascent Pro Risers. ■

WThe Pirelli DIABLO Powercruiser tire is designed to give V-Twin riders sporty performance as well as great styling and durability. They offer reliable grip and handling, even on heavier touring models.
ith V-Twin cruisers and Baggers continuing to make gains in performance, and plenty of riders looking to get the most out of their bikes with tuning and upgrades, it’s no surprise that tires for those bikes are upping the ante, too. The Pirelli DIABLO Powercruiser tire marks the debut of Pirelli’s new Custom-Touring line of high-performance tires for cruisers and Baggers.
The DIABLO Powercruiser is a sporty interpretation of a touring and cruiser tire, giving riders the best of both worlds. The tire was introduced at Louisville NVP before it made its public debut at Daytona Bike Week. Riders who stopped by Destination Daytona got their first look at the tire, which was showcased in the Pirelli display there.
“Hearing directly from excited riders about the new Powercruiser tire has been fantastic,” said Brian Davenport, Pirelli Tires. “The blend of performance and durability is what every rider wants, and we believe the technological innovations in this tire will set a new benchmark for what’s possible in this segment. We can’t wait for dealers to start selling and for riders to experience the new DIABLO Powercruiser on their bikes!”
The newest cruiser and Bagger models boast improved torque and handling compared to their predecessors, blending touring capabilities and sporty performance in a way that, up until recent years, had never been seen. The Pirelli DIABLO Powercruiser tire is designed with both of those styles in mind, giving riders outstanding handling characteristics as well as great V-Twin tire styling and durability.
The DIABLO name is one more familiar to sportbike enthusiasts, since that line of tires derives from Pirelli’s racing DNA. By combining the competition-inspired characteristics of the DIABLO line with cues from the V-Twin and custom bike segments, the DIABLO Powercruiser is a notable new kind of tire from Pirelli.
In all, the DIABLO Powercruiser offers sporty, reliable grip and handling, even on heavier touring models. Riders will be able to feel the stability during acceleration, braking and cornering, even at high speeds. A confidence-inspiring level of grip in wet conditions means even rainy rides are still fun, and mileage characteristics are in line with what riders expect in cruiser and touring tires.
One of the most obvious traits of the DIABLO Powercruiser’s racing DNA is the slick shoulders. This characteristic improves dry performance while showing at a glance that the tires are as capable as the bikes for which they’re designed. Pirelli’s iconic Flash design in the central part of the tread pattern is another hallmark of the brand’s sporty tires.
The DIABLO Powercruiser tire is available in all the main sizes for popular American Baggers and cruisers. ■

RKlock Werks' lineup of 14-gauge sampled steel fenders includes a model to match a variety of custom builds.
iders know their bikes are more than just machines, but rather statements of their passion, freedom and individuality. Motorcycles reflect unique style, and new fenders can not only change the look of a bike, but they can help deliver a new riding experience completely.
Known for building high-quality components for HarleyDavidsons, Klock Werks has developed a line of fenders in which style, function and strength work in harmony.
Pick up a Klock Werks fender and compare it to its stock counterpart – the difference is obvious. The 14-gauge stamped steel and US-construction delivers superior strength. The torsional rigidity between the fender mounts acts as a fork brace, enhancing both style and stability. Better handling through sweeping corners is always a win.
Before they land in your customers’ hands with a paintready, smooth finish, careful attention to detail is paid with precise laser cutting and E-coating for rust resistance.
“The advantage of our fenders is that they use a coldstamped steel forming process. That means they don’t just hold their shape, they’ve [also] got added strength and rigidity compared to heat-formed ones. Plus, they’re precision-fit for a clean, sharp look, so you won’t need to mess with any fabrication or alterations during install,” said Ryan Anderson, Klock Werks builder. “We’ve got sizes from 16 inches to 21 inches for front fenders, with a wide range of fitments. The E-coat gives them a rust-resistant finish that’ll hold up for years. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned builder, these fenders go on easy. Fit Kits are complete kits with mounting blocks for perfect spacing.”
Klock Werks offers fenders for a broad range of bikes, featuring styles from the Tire Hugger and Benchmark lines.
The Tire Hugger front fender line is designed true to its name, hugging the tire and mimicking its shape, as if the fender is an extension of the wheel itself and accentuating each motorcycle’s character to a custom level.
Additionally, Tire Hugger front fenders are available in various cuts and wheel sizes to complement the unique look of each customers’ bike. The range of models includes Baggers, Dynas, Softails, Sportsters, and more from Harley-Davidson across many model years, plus Indian Chieftain, Roadmaster and Challenger models.
More standout style comes from the Benchmark fender line. The natural forward motion of motorcycle design is amplified by these fenders with various length, shape and detail options. For example, Softail riders can fine-tune their custom look with three rear fender length options and various taillight integration styles, each designed to add a unique touch.
Benchmark fenders go beyond just Softail rear fenders, of course, offering the same design approach to front fenders and covering many models including Road Glides, Softails and Street Glides and many of their variations from the ’80s up to today. ■

For customers looking for a more aggressive look, the Magnum Mach 1.25 Moto handlebars are a short, mini-ape style available in 4-inch and 6-inch height options. Matt and Roxanne Cortez have spent the past 13 years building a successful service and performance shop in Anaheim, California with an ever-growing legion of customers via word-ofmouth by simply proving to them one thing – their honesty.
Check out the online reviews: “Hard to find a quality, trustworthy shop any more - save yourself some stress and come here for honest work and fair prices”; “This place is awesome, very friendly and helpful”; “A lot of mechanics I’ve met are rude and unapproachable, but they are super friendly and welcoming”; “Can’t say enough how awesome it is to deal with people you can trust and also know the work is professional”; “You can tell they really care about their clients here.”
All those accolades for the Drag Specialties dealership come with stellar online reviews – Google: a 4.9/5 score.
Yelp: a 4.9/5 score. Facebook: a 4.9/5 score – which are essential for modern customers, who often start their hunt for a repair shop or moto business with an online search.
“We pride ourselves for being straight-up with people and doing fair and honest work,” says Matt Cortez, owner of Matt Cortez Cycles - locally known simply as Cortez Cycles.
“We’re not going to try to bullshit you just to make a coin. We want you to be happy and your bike to be happy.
“We’re also really personalized. We’re a smaller shop, so most of the time when a customer comes in, they will be talking directly to me. So, it’s kind of unique to talk with the person who is working on your bike rather than just somebody at a counter that they don’t know.”
Unfortunately, many of the shop’s customers have ended up at Cortez Cycles after having a bad experience at another establishment. That’s Matt and Roxanne’s cue to earn a lifetime customer. “So, what we pride ourselves on is creating that loyal customer,” says Roxanne. “Like, in the summer, even if we’re three weeks out, they’re still going to wait for us and not go somewhere else.”
Matt got his start in the motorcycle industry soon after buying his first bike – a 1966 Ironhead Sportster – at the age of 19. After several costly visits to the dealership in an effort to keep the bike running, he came to a realization, “I finally noticed the labor was costing a lot more than the parts,” he says.
One year later he was attending the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. Then, upon graduation, he was hired by what was at the time, a family-run Fullerton Harley-Davidson. Not done learning, Matt then spent the next 15 years at the dealership taking advantage of any opportunity for further education that presented itself.
Eventually, he became a lead technician and through attending Harley-Davidson University became a Master of Service Technology, the highest ranking possible in the HarleyDavidson service program. “That was one of the highlights of my Harley career, making it to the complete top,” he says.
The family behind Fullerton Harley-Davidson eventually sold the business, creating the opportunity for Matt to depart the dealership and use his accumulated knowledge to begin his own venture in 2012. Recognizing Matt’s talent, many of the customers he had been working with at the dealership followed him to his new shop.
Aside from honesty and integrity, Cortez Cycle offers everything from the most basic motorcycle services to complete one-off builds, creating a roster of bikes that includes resto-mods like his ’55 Panhead, powerful performance Baggers, slick FXRs and Sportsters, and more. “Being able to do builds is the fun part,” Matt says. “The Performance Bagger market is huge out here in California and the FXRs are a dream to operate on these roads.”
Nowadays, Cortez Cycles’ customer base features everyone from new riders to experienced motorcyclists, and everyone in between. They also come into Anaheim from all over Southern California – and beyond. “Yesterday we had somebody come in from Arizona just to have his bike worked on by us because he couldn’t find a shop that he trusted out there,” Matt says. “He was a customer when he lived in California, so he came back just for us to work on his bike.”
Matt and Roxann credit the shop’s growth to that loyal customer base being happy with the work they do, and then telling their friends and family, who then spread the word even further. “But, it’s not just due to word-of-mouth,” Roxanne adds. “It’s also people who see us on Instagram and social media. Last week we had a customer come from Lancaster, which is probably [more than] an hour away, just to get his bike serviced.”
Cortez Cycles’ facility at 1114 E. Raymond Way in Anaheim is split between two sides. One side features the front desk and a small retail area offering service and performance parts, as well as Cortez-branded wearable merchandise. The other side houses the service area featuring six lifts, a couple of tire-mounting machines, diagnostic and machining equipment. The shop has an average of 10 to 20 bikes in for service at any one time.
“We’re primarily a small momand-pop shop,” Matt says. “It’s pretty small, but it works for us.”
Initially, the shop filled only a single storefront. In 2017 they expanded into a neighboring unit. “The spot next door opened up and we were busting at the seams,” Roxanne explains. “It was an easy move to just expand into the other side of the building.”
With space constraints, Cortez Cycles offers only a small selection of items for retail.
“It’s mostly a lot of performance parts - motor kits, suspension and braking - and ‘cool guy’ accessories like LED lighting, handlebars, grips and associated cabling,” he says, noting that many of the products come straight from the pages of the FatBook. In fact, Matt and Roxanne count on Drag Specialties as their primary parts supplier.
“They’re a top name in the industry for supplying us with all of those quality products in a timely manner,” Cortez explains. “They typically have everything we’re looking for - the performance parts, the normal items used for routine service and maintenance, and the cool guy stuff.”
Helping them with all of this is Cortez’s Drag Specialties sales representative, John Potts. “John’s very knowledgeable with all of the products, and if he doesn’t have an answer for us, he’ll take the time to research it and get us an answer,” Matt says. “He’s definitely also been around the industry quite a while as well and is a very smart guy. We love John Potts, and we look forward to seeing him every week.”
According to Potts, Matt and Roxanne make a great team for customers who trust them with their bike repairs and service.
“The Cortez family and their team take care of your motorcycle like it’s family,” Potts says. “Just one look at their shop and the bikes they personally ride, you know they are going to use and install the right Drag Specialties parts the first time. And they have a shop dog, Kilo, to entertain you while your bike is upgraded or repaired.”
Matt and Roxanne have been together for 29 years. While Matt was at MMI, Roxanne was at California State University, San Bernardino. They ended up graduating within a week of each other and subsequently moved to Orange County
together. Then, while Matt was at Fullerton Harley-Davidson, Roxanne was busy working in corporate sales.
When Matt opened his shop in 2012, Roxanne transitioned to working with him. “At the time, my kids – Drake and Devana – were ages seven and three and here every day,” Roxanne recalls. “Now they’re 20 and 16. So a lot of our customers have seen our kids grow up, and that’s also what really brings in that family aspect of the business.”
Another integral member of the shop is Matt’s righthand man in the service department, Rod Page. The two worked together at Fullerton Harley-Davidson, with Rod later joining Matt upon the opening of his new shop.
“When I first got out of MMI and joined the dealership, he was there and pretty much took me under his wing, basically telling me that he was going to re-teach me everything MMI taught me,” Matt says. “He’s been working in the industry for over 35 years, so it’s kind of cool having him working here with me.”
Engagement in the community is important to Cortez Cycles, so Matt organizes a few rides each year that attract his customers. His team also attends many big events, like Arizona Bike Week, Sturgis and the local Born Free Motorcycle Show, but he says it’s all for fun rather than business.
“In the first few years, we could never make it to events because we were always so busy getting everyone else out on the road,” he admits. “Ultimately, we wanted to have some fun, too, so now we take those times off to go to the events ourselves. We’re not out there to answer questions or do any work. We’re there to take a break and have fun, ride our bikes, and see some of our beautiful country!” ■
First impressions are always important. What’s the first thing your eyes gravitate to when you approach a custom motorcycle in a parking lot? Often, it’s the engine, especially if the bike in question features a classic big-inch American V-twin engine of practically any vintage. Starting at that classic piece of American Iron, one’s attention then likely shifts to the bike’s other features.
That’s pretty much what happened in May 2023 when then Drag Specialties’ sales rep, now Regional Sales Manager, Paolo Buell was on a routine visit to one of his assigned dealers. During that visit to A.D. Farrow Harley-Davidson in Columbus, Ohio, Paolo spotted a custom chopper on the showroom floor, an iconic Panhead engine tucked neatly in the bike’s classic Paughco straight-leg rigid frame.
It was good fortune and timing that had Paolo in A.D. Farrow’s historic showroom that day, a visit that eventually led to that Panhead-powered custom ending up in Paolo’s garage.
Recalling that fateful visit, Paolo revealed that his first impression of the chopper was a lasting impression, too. “I liked what I saw, and I especially liked its Panhead engine. It’s a 1958 motor, and it’s in good shape,” he said.

After owning the bike for two years now, Paolo has done what countless other Harley afficionados have done before him and will do forever; he made it his own. “I can’t keep anything the same, so I went and changed it,” he said. “I wanted to make the bike my bike.” Meaning, some of the custom parts that the chopper now features represent his vision of what a custom chopper like this should be. “Of course, as a Drag Specialties Dealer Rep I wanted many of those parts to come from either the OldBook or FatBook catalogs.”
Considering the bike’s vintage and previous history, many of the new/old parts that Paolo has put on the chopper originated not only from either of Drag’s two catalogs, they also were sourced directly from several Drag dealers that he routinely encountered on his sales route. Many of those dealers have their own prized old parts inventories that are reserved especially for older Harleys like the ’58 Panhead chopper that Paolo adopted.
That’s part of the attraction of the OldBook and the Fatbook. The parts contained within their pages keep old bike owners and builders thriving with suitable replacement parts for their older rides. Those old/new parts supplement what many old bike collectors otherwise are forced to chase down
online, spot at local motorcycle swap meets, or source from the deep network of vintage bike enthusiasts.
Paolo discovered this network firsthand while attending the 2023 Sturgis Rally as a member of Drag Specialties’ support team. One day during the rally while talking with Drag’s vendor relations expert Tom Motzko, their conversation turned to Paolo’s ’58 Panhead chopper. Paolo mentioned that he was on the lookout for an interesting cast aluminum finned primary cover that was originally cast by a company known as Imperial Casting Co.
Motzko suggested that fellow Hamster member and Drag Specialties dealer, Arlin Fatland of 2 Wheelers Motorcycle Shop might know where he could find a surviving cover. Sure enough, while visiting Fatland at his Sturgis shop (his main digs are in Denver) Fatland pointed Paolo in the right direction for the retro-styled primary cover. To complement the treasured find, Paolo also incorporated similar finned rocker covers from Custom Cycle Engineering.
More new/old parts followed from the OldBook that showed up at his doorstep. Among them was an Andrewsgrind camshaft, Drag Specialties 5¾-inch headlight and a 1970s-vintage Cat Eye taillight, to name a few. A full refurbishing was in order for the rigid frame’s rear disc brake, so he based the rear brake facelift on Drag’s rear caliper kit for rigid frames. He then packed the calipers with DP Brakes’ sintered brake pads.
The front fork experienced a complete rebuild, too. Legend Suspensions’ AXEO high performance system, mixed with Drag Specialties’ 39mm fork tubes, help smooth the ride. New rolling rubber consists of old favorites from the ’70s chopper crowd – an Avon Speedmaster front and a Dunlop D402 on the rear.
When Paolo originally acquired the chopper, it sported a black dual-saddle five-gallon gas tank. “Too big,” Paolo told himself, so he went in search of something more suitable. Jeff Hill, owner of Hill Performance, and a Drag Specialties dealer, answered the call with a similar three-gallon teardrop tank that tempered the chopper’s long and low profile perfectly. The new Drag Specialties chromed fuel petcock was an easy replacement that’s also easy to access on the bike.
Satisfied that the new gas tank offered the look he was after, Paolo opted for LePera’s sprung solo Cobra seat that nestles perfectly with the compact gas tank. He opted for a handlebar riser bushing kit by Alloy Art/Gooden Tight that helps to mount up a custom one-piece T-bar and provide a solid connection with the road. Biltwell hand grips matched with a single throttle cable, and S&S Cycles’ popular *(EMIS Code 3) Super E carburetor are period per-

fect items, and a Drag Specialties clutch lever assembly with 3/8-inch cable is positioned near the left hand grip.
Perhaps one of the Panhead’s more interesting features is the fabricated exhaust, a 2-into-1 system that’s a collaboration between Paolo and Drag dealer Nick Thomison, owner of True Love Speed Shop. The throwback exhaust system was inspired by an Alphabet Exhaust from the early ’70s that Paolo spotted when thumbing through a vintage FatBook catalog. They fashioned the system from a modified Vance & Hines High Output Race Replica collector box that now serves as the junction for the two header pipes that feed into the collector before flowing into a single oversize muffler.
But before Paolo’s Panhead chopper was road-ready, a few more minor issues were addressed by tapping into that vintage network, which included Drag dealer Mike Martein, owner of Wizard Cycles, who supplied the FX 4-speed transmission’s ratchet top and shift-drum mechanism that Paolo’s bike needed.
Indeed, Paolo describes his bike as a continuous work-inprogress. “The rabbit holes you make when trying to get the proper parts for these custom projects is amazing,” he said. He’s referencing, of course, the various parts that need to fit other parts that are all part of the build itself.
And so, the work and fun continue for Paolo Buell. Absolute satisfaction and justification will probably catch up with him and his Panhead Chopper when they both show up together at a future Drag Specialties Dealer Ride! ■

There was a time when the words “racing” and “Bagger bikes” weren’t heard together. These days, as V-Twins continue to be refined and Bagger racing gains competitors and fans at a rapid pace, it’s a lot more common to focus on the performance aspects of V-Twins.
That’s where a product like Motul’s TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil comes into the conversation. This high-performance oil is specially formulated for the high temperatures and extreme conditions found in big, air-cooled twins, and its triple-synthetic formulation is designed to keep a bike performing at its peak.
These bikes are demanding even in their stock configurations, but add in custom aftermarket engine components and fine-tuning to get the most horsepower possible out of the engine, and it becomes even more important to have an oil that can stand up to the operating conditions.
“Our Motul TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil is designed to withstand these added stresses, offering superior protection against engine wear, increased viscosity stability, heat resistance, and excellent friction reduction,” says Darwyn Yager, Motul Trade Marketing Manager – Powersports. “This ensures that high-pressure components like pistons, camshafts and bearings are adequately lubricated, preventing premature wear or engine failure.”
Ideal for use in M8, Twin-Cam and Evolution engines, the TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil begins with a premium base oil offering, combined with a superior additive package that assists in keeping engines clean, protected and performing at an optimum level. Motul uses molecular bonding technology, which allows the oil to cling to metal parts. This creates a protective film over the parts within the motor, which in turn provides proper lubrication on startup, reducing metal-to-metal friction, and thus helping minimize wear at startup.
“With the performance Bagger movement currently a trend within the industry, having an oil that can withstand the higher engine temperatures and added pressures that are being created is extremely important,” Yager says.
Motul relies on the toughest of proving grounds to refine its TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil: the racetrack. Motul uses its motorsports involvement to test its oils, and that results in reliable, high-quality products that customers know they can count on.
Yager says, “Our involvement as the Official Lubricant of the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series, while also partnering with championship-contending race teams such as Vance & Hines Racing, Saddlemen Racing Development and Roland Sands Design, has allowed us to test and develop a superior V-Twin engine oil that provides our customers the confidence they need while out on the road.” ■

Arlen Ness Enterprises has introduced new products for dealers to consider, including a new line of carbon fiber front fenders that provide HarleyDavidson owners with a factory-level finish and direct bolt-on fit without the need for additional brackets.
Since the brand launched in 1970, the Arlen Ness name has been synonymous with motorcycle customization. The late Ness’s passion for V-Twin motorcycles led to him building one-of-a-kind custom motorcycles, each finished in his signature painting style, eventually leading to his namesake line of custom motorcycle parts. The Ness legacy lives on under the leadership of his son Cory Ness, who today serves as President of Arlen Ness Enterprises.
The new line of Arlen Ness carbon fiber front fenders utilizes high-quality carbon fiber material and OEMquality tooling to deliver an exceptional final product. Each handmade fender’s rich, high-gloss polished finish includes a clear coat to resist UV light, improving structural integrity and extending product life.
Each of the three available fender shape options – Café (short), Pro Sport (double window design) and Wrapper (full-length) – is complemented by a unique window/ cutout design that not only looks good but also improves airflow. All three fender shapes are available for 19-inch front tires, with only the Wrapper shape available for
21-inch front tires. These 5½-inch-wide fenders also provide more clearance when mounting oversized brake rotors up to 14 inches in diameter.
More than just a visual piece, these fenders perfectly wrap the front wheel while reducing front-end weight. Arlen Ness Enterprises takes pride in making each fender by hand in its distinctly American style that captures the spirit of a Motorcycle Hall of Fame icon. “We’re extremely proud of our carbon fenders,” shares Steve Watkins, Director of Sales and Marketing for Arlen Ness Enterprises. “Our fenders are precisely manufactured to be perfectly straight for flawless fit and performance. The beautiful weave of the carbon fiber gives our fenders a luxury finish. We’ve worked incredibly hard to make fenders with uncompromising quality at a competitive price point that makes them accessible to a
Arlen Ness also makes the same fender shapes in 14-gauge steel versions for those who may not want the carbon fiber look. Whether your customer chooses carbon fiber or steel, the service department can rest assured that each install is a direct bolt-on replacement, with no additional brackets or mounting hardware required. Fitments include parts numbers for most 1999-up FL machines, including CVO, Road Glide, Street Glide and Touring models. ■

OLEFT: Khrome Werks’ new 4.5-inch HP-Plus slip-on mufflers Each are available in standard chrome and black chrome electroplated finish options. Exhaust tip options include Klassic (straight), Edge (slanted), and Race (performance).
RIGHT: Each dyno-tested 4.5-inch HP-Plus slip-on muffler set is engineered for optimal performance, maximum style and a more harmonic sound output.
ne of the more subjective choices when customizing a V-Twin motorcycle is choosing an aftermarket exhaust that meets each customer’s ideal decibel level, tone and performance. American-made exhaust manufacturer Khrome Werks seeks to make the process easier for dealers and DIY customers by offering V-Twin owners a range of sound options and finish choices with its new 4.5-inch HP-Plus® slip-on mufflers *(EMIS Code 4) for Harley-Davidsons models.
Khrome Werks has been a player in the V-Twin market since the brand was launched in 1990 by Jim Preisler. In the company’s words, Khrome Werks, “builds products that perform for the eyes, ears, heart and soul.” In the case of its exhaust systems, products that balance craftsmanship, performance, and style with a rich, ear-pleasing sound. Each Khrome Werks product is designed, engineered and manufactured in the USA.
Each dyno-tested HP-Plus slip-on muffler set is engineered for optimal performance, maximum style and a more harmonic sound output. Each exhaust is tuned to deliver more torque and overall power output for each model fitment, while providing Khrome Werks’ signature balanced sound that eliminates irritating high-frequencies. Although loud exhaust may get riders noticed in some traffic situations, if the exhaust has an unpleasant tone, it’s not only an annoyance during long days in the saddle but also invites unwanted scrutiny from non-motorcyclists.
Each HP-Plus 16-gauge slip-on muffler is constructed with a body diameter of 4½ inches in standard chrome
and black chrome electroplated finish options. Exhaust tip options include Klassic (straight), Edge (slanted), and Race (performance). Internally, an absorptive baffle is wrapped with a stainless steel mat and high-temp fiberglass for sound and heat absorption. Khrome Werks offers optional performance inserts that boost low-end performance and provide a more race-oriented sound. Each billet aluminum exhaust tip style rotates 360 degrees in 90-degree increments.
“Khrome Werks has built a reputation as an industry leader in fit, finish, performance, and long-term product quality,” National Sales Manager Travis Schmid explains. “Now, we’ve taken innovation a step further by engineering [a] fully customizable baffle insert system. With interchangeable inserts, dealers can fine-tune sound and performance to meet each customer’s preferences, with minimal cost and only minutes to install. Our mufflers are a true ‘one size fits all’ solution, and we take great pride in delivering this level of versatility and performance.”
Riders report improved torque and horsepower from the first twist hit of the throttle, with a rich, full-throated, yet balanced sound that’s loud but not overbearing. Current HP-Plus fitments include SKUs for 1999-2016 Harley Twin Cam and 2017 and later Milwaukee-Eight models. ■

FFat Baggers now has EZ Install Kits for installing taller handlebars on Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight models. The kits come in a black vinyl or stainless braided finish and include an upgraded upper clutch cable, a front brake line extension, a replacement wiring harness, rope, lube, and zip ties.
at Baggers has new EZ Install Kits for installing taller handlebars on Harley-Davidson MilwaukeeEight models. The new kits include an innovative clutch cable design that relocates the free-play adjuster next to the clutch lever assembly on the handlebars. The new cable also fixes known issues with plastic parts breaking on the stock cable, upgrading them to metal instead. These new kits include everything necessary for installing taller handlebars.
Fat Baggers has been in the aftermarket V-Twin business since 2004 when founder Gary Chipp launched the brand to sell his fat tire kits and custom parts for Harleys. Chipp recognized an opportunity in the V-Twin market for a line of easy-to-install motorcycle parts he dubbed “EZ Install.” Fat Baggers still manufactures 100 percent of its products in the USA, in-house at its Chariton, Iowa facility.
EZ Install kits come in a black vinyl or stainless braided finish and include an upgraded upper clutch cable, a front brake line extension, a replacement wiring harness, rope, lube, and zip ties. By not having to remove the exhaust or drain the transmission oil, these kits save valuable time for dealer service departments and DIY customers.
“When Harley released the new 2023-2024 M8 models, we immediately evaluated them at our Harley Dealership here in Iowa and realized that to install taller handlebars, a new upper cable and a complete kit would be required,” explains Alexa Dyer, Vice President of Operations at Fat Baggers. “We knew we wanted to make a complete cable kit that was easy to install and addressed the known issues with the plastic components on the OEM clutch cable, so we created a new cable with upgraded metal parts.
The clutch cable included in Fat Baggers’ EZ Install Kits features a clutch adjuster up near the lever for easy fine-tuning.
“However, we didn’t stop at that. We also wanted to make the cable more convenient to use and came up with the idea to move the clutch adjuster up by the lever instead of down by the frame so it’s more convenient for adjusting the clutch.”
Fat Baggers EZ Install kits, available to Drag Specialties dealers, include part numbers for installing 11-inch, 12inch, 14-inch, 16-inch, and 18-inch handlebar heights on 2023-2024 Harley M8 CVO, Road Glide and Street Glide models. These kits perfectly complement the company’s EZ Install line of handlebars, ensuring a seamless installation process. ■

Dakota Digital’s MLX-5000 series of universal gauges were created specifically for custom applications. They feature a big range of functions, come in two styles and in two finishes. Customers can personalize the displays from a choice of 30 lighting colors and styles.
When it comes time to upgrade the instrumentation on a Harley-Davidson, Dakota Digital is a name that comes to mind for many V-Twin builders and riders. The company has been in business in Sioux Falls, South Dakota since 1986 and now has tens of thousands of units on the road.
Regularly responding to customer suggestions regarding designing their products, Dakota Digital’s latest offerings include the MLX-5000 series of universal gauges, specifically the four found in the FatBook, the MLX-5200, the MLX-5200-K, the MLX-5400 and the MLX-5400-K.
“We were thrilled to have been honored with the Powersports Product of the Year at the 2024 SEMA Show a couple of months back with the MLX-5000 Series, recognizing the accomplishment of a small form factor instrument system with a long list of features,” says Scott Johnson, Dakota Digital VP Business Development.
Created specifically for custom applications, all four gauges share the same features and customization options in a small handlebar-mount instrument system.
Features include a 0-225mph speedometer, odometer and pair of resettable trip odometers, hidden indicator lamps, left and right turn signals, high beam, neutral, low oil pressure and check engine lights. Performance displays include a 0-60 mph timer, ¼-mile time and speed, service mileage and more.
Your customers will enjoy customizing their display thanks to the ability to choose from 30 lighting colors and styles. For ideal day and night visibility, the center TFT display has an auto-dim feature. Further, the gauges can be easily calibrated for any drive ratio, tire size or gearing. Once the gauges are installed, your customers calibrate them for their combination using a simple calibration routine from the front-mounted tactile pushbutton switch.
From a design standpoint, the four gauges are offered in two styles, Spiked and Oval, with a choice of chrome or black housings. The Spiked units have a width of 4½ inches, whereas the Oval units measure 3½ inches in length.
Built to last, Dakota Digital gauges are made of machined aluminum housings. All of the mounting points for the circuit boards are built into the machine work, and the circuit boards are internally coated for weather resistance.
To be mounted on any Dakota Digital handlebar or riser brackets, the gauges can be used on cable drive or electronic speedo applications. Just be sure to order the appropriate speed adaptor for the application when placing the order. Kits provide universal wiring inputs, allowing for compatibility with a range of bikes providing discreet signal inputs (but not suggested for use on CAN/bus models). ■

Riders like to consider every detail when it comes to how their bike looks and feels, and with Galfer USA’s custom rotor program, V-Twin riders can get performance brakes and a style upgrade.
Galfer’s iconic Wave® rotors are available with a choice of nine carrier colors and 11 button colors. You can get a custom rotor order form from your Drag rep, and the ordering process is easy.
Dealers appreciate that the custom rotor program provides them with an opportunity to offer their customers a true performance enhancement plus customization options, all without having to charge an additional cost.
In other words, riders get upgraded brakes without the upgraded price tag. Plus, custom rotors are made-to-order with a 24-hour dropship turn around, so dealers can deliver for their customers quickly.
The full-floating Galfer Wave rotor used in the custom rotor program is significantly lighter than stock, and while the design looks great, its goal is to provide enhanced braking characteristics.
“With heat being the biggest detriment to performance braking, the Galfer Wave rotor design used in our custom rotor program cools the rotor more efficiently, providing the rider with more consistent performance throughout the braking cycle,” says Andrew Strolin, VP of Marketing and Sales at Galfer USA. The improved heat dissipation and cooler rotor result in less fade, giving riders braking confidence and a big upgrade over a standard OEM rotor ■

pace on the showroom floor is precious real estate, which means it’s impossible to show off every option customers have when it comes to LePera Motorcycle Seats.
In addition to having a wide range of seat styles, LePera offers many of those styles in a Daddy Long Legs version for taller riders and an Up Front version for riders who want to be positioned closer to the controls. That doesn’t mean a dealer needs to stock all three configurations, though, to show the differences between each variation.
Bagger seats like the TailWhip and Maverick are available in all three configurations – standard, Daddy Long Legs and Up Front – but by stocking one standard TailWhip seat or similar, it’s easy to demonstrate the differences between them.
The TailWhip has a strip that runs up the sides of the driver back support area and across the top. This strip is about 2 inches wide, the same distance the Daddy Long Legs moves a rider back or the Up Front moves a rider forward. It’s an easy visual that helps riders picture the difference.
The seat design will remain mostly the same, but the driver back support will move either forward or backward by the same width as that band.
And, no matter which configuration a rider chooses, they can count on LePera’s handcrafted quality and comfort. ■

FFeuling’s 487 Reaper cam offers bolt-in power for the MilwaukeeEight.
euling stays on the gas developing new parts for your customers’ Harley-Davidsons, and the latest addition to the Drag catalog is an aggressive bolt-in cam for 2017 and up Milwaukee-Eight engines, the *(EMIS Code 3) 487 Reaper.
Ready to wake up that M8? The latest grind is the 487, which sits above the existing 405, 465, and 472 grinds but just below the 508. Why the half step? To keep it bolt-in.
“This is the biggest bolt-in for the 2017-2023 Gen 1 M8
engines,” says Justin Jones, Feuling’s Digital Media and Marketing Manager.
That means the 487 works with the stock valvetrain parts, allowing riders to upgrade without having to overhaul the heads. This is a great all-around camshaft for the 4½ inch stroke engines and has that popular nasty “chop” idle sound, while producing the broad power for which Feuling is known. “Our focus for our grinds is to give you the widest powerband possible,” says Feuling boss Luke Leatherman. The 487 is the latest way to get there, and is sure to be a popular mod.
The new Gen 2 Center Cooled M8 engines have updated valve springs that allow increased lift, and Feuling has had success with the 508 grind as a bolt-in into the Gen 2 117 engines. ■

It was a while ago that most people used home phones with long cords, which were followed by portable cellular phones, and now nearly everyone has smartphones. These devices are minicomputers at one’s fingertips. They have become practically ingrained into the lives of all who use them, helping with such tasks as finding local restaurants, navigation, health tracking, and, of course, texting and making calls. The need to memorize phone numbers has become obsolete.
Smartphone technology is constantly evolving in terms of capabilities and durability, and as the use of these phones grows, the methods for carrying them and mounting them must also advance. RidePower is dedicated to developing high-quality phone mounts for the powersports industry, with one such option being a metal construction phone mount that charges a phone while it is mounted. It features built-in vibration damping and a robust waterproof rating of IP67, which means it can really withstand the elements.
The RidePower Metal Inductive Mount includes additional features such as quick insertion and release, a quick disconnect cable, and compatibility with both iOS and Android devices. It can accommodate phones in cases up to 3-inches wide and ½-inch thick. RidePower provides a selection of mounting options – handlebar, perch and mirror mounts ranging from 7/8 of an inch to 1 ¼ inches. There are also handlebar mount kits for bars from 1¼ inches to 1½ inches. ■

Clutch function is critical to a motorcycle’s performance and riding experience, which is why clutch maintenance is crucial. Thankfully, EBC has expanded its trusted products to keep clutches tuned up.
“EBC now offers clutch kits for most Harley-Davidson, Indian and Victory applications, so the list is bigger than ever,” said Joshua Russell from EBC. “Customers can choose from several clutch kit options for different types of riding and clutch feel that a rider prefers.”
The EBC Standard CK Series clutch plates are ideal for general street, sport and touring riding, making them great for stock clutch upgrades that retain overall feel. This kit is supplied with a complete set of friction plates featuring EBC’s proprietary material designed to increase life and prevent slippage and drag.
EBC’s SRC series clutch kit offers more aggressive engagement thanks to heavy-duty clutch springs and purpose-built frictions that also improve heat resistance and clutch life.
Customers looking for a more comprehensive kit can opt for the SRK series clutch kits which include the upgraded frictions and springs, plus durable steel separator plates as well.
Perhaps your customers are just looking for more aggressive springs to complement power upgrades. EBC’s CSK spring kits are exactly what they’re looking for, including roughly 10 percent stiffer coil or diaphragm springs, depending on the model. ■

One look at Accutronix Motorcycle Products and you’ll find motorcycle eye candy for miles. However, one particular category is ready to slide right into the palm of your customers’ hands – grips.
For a personalized add-on that riders will see and touch every single time they ride, grips are a valuable upsell your customers are bound to appreciate. The conventional selection of grips from Accutronix are anything but, offering a wide range of styles and finishes that can complement the look of motorcycles with dual cable design throttles.
“Accutronix offers a variety of options with not just different looks, but distinct feels at the hand,” said Tyler Williams of Accutronix. “Unique profiles such as Knurled and Diamond feature varying contours and textures. Once your customers’ hands are wrapped around the right pair, the grips will do the talking.”
From the brass series, the Brass Knurled Custom Grips offer a clean, straight contour with a knurled texture. The Diamond grips feature a curved contour with horizontal inset grooves which shine in the chrome plated finish and
offer a dramatic look in the “Night Series” colorway with a contrast of black anodized and raw aluminum finishes.
Accutronix Conventional grips are compatible with 19842014 Harley-Davidson models with dual cables, as well as many custom and metric bikes. Grips are made from 6061 T-6 billet aluminum and are available in several finishes including brass, black anodized, chrome plated, polished billet aluminum and the signature Night Series. ■
