This month the projects are rising faster than your dinner rolls. As the season of stretchy pants and second helpings approaches we want to hammer home what we’re most thankful for: our incredible team, loyal customers, and the fact that buildings and bridges don’t build themselves. This newsletter is stuffed with all the goods. Grab a fork and a forklift - it’s time to dig in.

Ever wonder what happens to your ESOP when you retire, leave, or just start dreaming about your next big adventure? This month we are talking about Forms of Distribution! Think of how your slice of the company pie gets served. Depending on your balance and the situation, you might get your payout in one satisfying lump sum (like grabbing the whole pie at once) or in steady, predictable installments (a slice at a time).
We will also cover Diversification, your ESOP’s version of “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” The longer you are a part of the ESOP, the more control you gain over your future. It’s your chance to balance loyalty with a little financial freedom!
OWNERSHIPOUTLOOK ESOP
FORMS OF DISTRIBUTION
Participants receive a single lump-sum payment of their vested balance upon Death, Disability, or Normal Retirement (age 65). However, you can also receive the vested portion of your accounts in the Plan if you are terminated for reasons other than Death, Disability or Normal Retirement.
How Your Benefits Will Be Paid:
If your vested account balance is $7,000 or less your entire vested balance will be paid to you as a single lump-sum payment.
If your vested account balance is more than $7,000 you will recieve your vested account balance upon reaching normal retirement age 65 in substantially equal installments over a period of 5 years.
DIVERSIFICATION
Diversification is offered to each qualified participant over a six-year period. In each of the first five years, a participant may diversify up to 25% of his or her stock balance, less any shares previously diversified. In the sixth year, the percentage changes to 50%. Participants who elect to diversify receive a cash distribution of the applicable amount. If the participant decides to receive it in cash rather than roll it over into another qualified retirement plan, it is subject to income taxes and separately it is subject to a penalty if they are not at least age 59.5+

DERBY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
The Derby Wastewater Treatment Plant is nearing completion of Phase 1. Startup and commissioning of the wastewater equipment and the odor control system are scheduled throughout the weeks of November. Currently, crews are leak-testing the Anaerobic Basin prior to backfilling. Dondlinger’s utility division is installing underground process piping and recently completed pouring the chemical building’s foundation walls. They will soon begin the under-slab mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in work.
The Derby WWTP receives approximately 2 million gallons of wastewater per day. The recently completed Anaerobic Basin alone consists of about 700 cubic yards of concrete.
A key aspect of this project is working closely with plant staff to coordinate and complete construction while maintaining a fully operational treatment facility, requiring extensive planning and collaboration. This project is just getting started, and there’s plenty more exciting things to come… well, as exciting as wastewater can get, at least!
LIFE IN THE SLUDGE LANE
What really happens when you flush?
Surprise... it involves bugs - and not the creepy kind!
When you flush the toilet, a secret army of microscopic cleanup crews gets to work. These tiny heroes are called microbes, and they are natures ultimate recyclers. Their job? Chowing down on the leftover “food” in the water, aka organic waste, to help break it all down and zap pollutants.
So... who are these unsung water-cleaning legends?
Bacteria: the first responders, breaking down big messes.
Protozoa: Bacteria hunters! They gobble them up like snacks.
Rotifers: Tiny munch machines that love leftovers.
Copepods: Little mixers, keeping things flowing.
Worms: Earth’s wiggly composters, even in water!
Each has a special role in the wastewater symphony. Without them, our water would stay nasty and polluted... and that’s bad news for public health, the environment, and well... anyone who enjoys clean water.
So, next time you flush, give a silent shout-out to the microbe squad for keeping our water (and planet) clean!

The Red Bud Trail bridge was erected starting at 9 pm on a Saturday and continued through the night until set. This bridge is a hefty 160,000 lbs and 200 feet long. It was in 4 pieces and our team assembled it on site! Along with this projects normal Superintendents, Carlos Silva and Jeff Burnham also lend a hand to help the setting go smooth!

A THEFT and REPORTING THEFT
Safety by choice, not by chance. Safety Quote No. 9
ll theft whether Dondlinger, Allied, or a sub needs to be reported! Please call in and get a case number then call Safety and report the theft along with the case number, date of the theft and any other important information pertaining to the theft.
All thefts need reported to the police because items pop up over time and we have been notified by the police saying that they found an item that was reported stolen. Someone from the company goes to identify it. If it is Dondlinger’s or Allied’s then the stolen items are returned. Also, it helps the police know patterns if the hot items are catalytic converters, carburetors, or something else.
Everything stolen needs to be reported!
