After a remarkable debut last year, we are thrilled to once again gather with Singapore’s vibrant and passionate wine community to celebrate the world of fine wine. Your enthusiasm and curiosity have made this event a special place for Decanter in Asia.
This year’s Encounter brings together more than 50 renowned wineries from across the globe, alongside three exclusive masterclasses and a special tasting of the Decanter World Wine Awards Gold, Platinum and Best in Show winners. It’s an extraordinary opportunity to meet the people behind the wines while sharing the joy of tasting and discovery.

The JUDGING PROCESS BRONZE, SILVER & GOLD All wines entered in the competition are evaluated in categorised, regional flights in the initial stage of judging. Regional Chairs oversee their panels, address any scoring discrepancies and ensure consistency by re-tasting all Silver and Gold winners. Co-Chairs conduct a final re-tasting of wines scoring 94 and above for final endorsement. This means that Silver winners are tasted at least twice, but up to three times, while Gold winners undergo a rigorous tasting process of three evaluations. This meticulous approach guarantees a thorough assessment of each wine. Notably, winning entries in the Price Band A category can be marketed as ‘Value’ wines, such as Value Gold.
86-89 POINTS
A well-made, sound and satisfying wine within its category.
90-94 POINTS
A high-quality wine of excitement and personality within its category.
95-96 POINTS
An outstanding and memorable wine within its category.
PLATINUM Gold-awarded wines are re-categorised and re-tasted by a panel consisting of Regional Chairs and Co-Chairs. The wines are judged according to their origin. There is no limit to the number of Gold winners that could be promoted to Platinum.
BEST IN SHOW Best in Show is the ultimate accolade at Decanter World Wine Awards. In another re-tasting, the CoChairs evaluate all Platinum winners to determine and elevate the top 50 to Best in Show.

TRUSTWORTHY results A competition is only as good as its judges, and Decanter World Wine Awards prides itself on recruiting the world’s greatest wine palates, including merchants, sommeliers, critics, wine writers, educators, Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers.
We recruit judges who have an intimate knowledge of a specific region, which we believe is crucial for recognising typicity and quality. All wines are tasted blind as part of our unique and specialised judging process.
CATEGORISATION FOR JUDGING The success of Decanter World Wine Awards rests on its unique judging process, with wines evaluated on a regional basis in carefully organised flights by country, region, colour, grape, style, vintage and price band to ensure they’re judged against their peers.
